Arranged Marriage Turned More To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them. Much less love them... Still, things can change. You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you, they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least, an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection. Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love. Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste? how to play. - Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes! - Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff. - Reply to others. - IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

[Perhaps they'd been lucky in that they'd known each other and come to trust each other implicitly on the battle ground long before a marriage was ever on the table for them. It made the pomp and ritual of an arranged marriage much easier to deal with, at least for Azura.

In the end, if it had to be someone, Azura felt she could have done worse than Xander. He was an honorable man, and did the best he could for his people—Azura had been able to see that, thanks to all they had been through together. It was why she stood where she did now, in front of the door that lead to his chambers.

Honey I'm home seemed like the wrong thing to say as he came through the doors to find his new husband. The arrangement has been awkward at best. A deal struck between families to settle a debt.

Since the night of their wedding he has given Adam space. Only sleeping in the same room to keep rumors from spreading. The house staff was sworn to silence but that has never stopped the rumor mill from being fed.

His boots are muddy and he smells of sweat. An expression of exhaustion stains his face. One of the cows had given birth. Ronan was responsible for their care. Which meant he had been woken in the middle of the night when the cow was showing signs of distress, returning now nearly twenty hours later.

He was bleeding from a gash over his eye and two of his fingers looked a little crooked. The first time mother had panicked. And Ronan grit his teeth through the pain and soothed her through it all.

Now he was ready to collapse.

"Can someone start a bath?" He called out as he stripped down in the mud room.

[ When Rey arrives on the First Order's new flagship Judgment, the Resistance has been crippled beyond the resources to recover itself, buts its ideology has spread. Left unchecked, unaddressed, that ideology will be like a cancer that causes discord throughout the systems. It had to be addressed. It begged to be addressed.

The terms were struck in a room of ten, among them the Last Jedi, the Supreme Leader, the new Commander of the Resistance, the First Order's preeminent General, and others. General Organa and the defector Finn had been left behind as a peace offering, one that appeared keenly redundant when it became apparent that this was not about compromise and concession.

The Resistance had been invited here to negotiate the terms of their surrender.

Poe was furious. He hadn't the diplomatic skill to navigate it, and he'd pulled his blaster on Hux at one point. It was Rey who knocked it out of his hands and shoved them both back into their seats with the Force. Leia's presence deserved to be respected, and by the sound of it, it was the first time Ben received confirmation that she had survived the attack on the Raddus.

Great.

Needless to say, tensions were high when it finally came out that the Supreme Leader had already offered to negotiate a compromise, and the Last Jedi had rejected it on behalf of all the Resistance.

She'd defended herself, of course. Pointed out that it was no peace treaty, but a condemnation of the Resistance and all it stood for, a desperate effort to recruit her to his cause. That was about the time they realized that, in fact, that was all that could happen here. It was a symbolic treatise.

And when General Hux supplied that political marriages were quite common between governments that were surrendering to invaders, well— ]
