(CONTENT WARNING. This is a meme about death and may deal with suicide, depression, extreme violence, illnesses, etc.)

This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die.

CAUSE OF DEATH

1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligence, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or injured and are now in your last moments. This covers all kinds of accidental deaths--strangulation, drowning, car accidents, unintentional beheadings, whatever you can think of.

2 - Murder. Somebody really didn't like you. Enough to kill you, it seems. You're now dead by someone else's hand. (Maybe even the person replying to you?) As with accidental death, this covers all types of intentional, malicious murder, regardless of method--so poisoning, stabbing, shooting, etc., all work here. Same with all the below options: any possible variation you can think of on it will work!

3 - Suicide. There is no hope for you, and no way out. You've reached the absolute bottom pits of despair, and the only recourse you have is to take your own life. Someone shows up to stop you... but they're too late to help you now.

4 - Terminal illness. You have cancer, or tuberculosis, or cholera back when people got cholera. The doctors have done everything they could and it wasn't enough. The only thing to do now is give your loved ones the bad news.

5 - Starvation. So thirsty. So hungry. Maybe you've been traveling in the desert for hours, or maybe you're just really poor. Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because you're slowly wasting away until you're nothing but skin and bones.

6 - Death in battle. You've died a hero's death, and gone out in a blaze of glory. Or maybe you were a coward who got shot for deserting? Either way, you're now a casualty of war. Will you be honored with a parade or scorned as a traitor to your country?

7 - Natural causes. You've lived a long, happy life, and now your story is at an end. In a warm bed, surrounded by your family and friends, you peacefully drift off. Just make sure that you've made a will somewhere, or at least use your deathbed to set the record straight. Otherwise, who knows what kind of squabbles might errupt after you leave this world?

TIME LEFT

1 - A few minutes. You're fading fast and you don't have much, well, any time left. Better tell the person with you that you love -- or despise -- them with your last breath, because you'll never have the chance otherwise.

2 - A few hours. You haven't got much time left. Is there someone you still need to kill? To kiss? Better do it quick. (Note: last kisses not recommended for people dying of highly contagious illnesses.)

3 - A few days. The doctors have given you the news, and it's not very good. You've only got a couple days left to live. You should start trying to make peace with people and saying your final goodbyes with the days you have left.

4 - A few weeks. Take that vacation you've always wanted to go on but never had the chance to. Go do that thing you've never thought you'd be any good at. You've got only weeks left to live. Don't waste them.

5 - A few months. While you aren't quite on death's doorstep yet, your lifespan has still dwindled considerably from what you probably thought it would be. How are you going to spend your last few months on Earth? Making the world a better place and telling your family you love them? Or raising as much hell as possible?

RELATIONSHIP

1 - Lovers. This is your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, mistress, whatever you call them they were the person you wanted to spend your life with. Too bad you don't have much of a life to spend with them anymore.

2 - Siblings. Your beloved little or older sibling is just standing there, watching you slowly waste away before their eyes. Can you say anything to comfort them? Note that it doesn't necessarily have to be interpreted literally; adopted siblings and friends so close they might as well be siblings work too.

3 - Parent and child. Nothing is worse than a parent having to bury their child... except, maybe, a young child now alone in the world after losing their parent. As with the sibling prompt, this can be expanded to include parental figures and people who are LIKE a father/mother to you as well as actual biological parents.

4 - Co-workers, teammates or classmates. You were fighting for the same side. Or you worked together in the same office for years. Or they sat behind you in biology all semester. However you met, how do your react when you find out someone who used to be a fixture in your life is going to die?

5 - Friends. You're the best of friends! You go everywhere together, know all each other's secrets, and are never seen apart. At least, you didn't use to be. Now one of you is dying and the other one is left alone in the world. Or maybe you're dying together. Wait, is that better or worse?

6 - Bitter enemies. You hate, hate, HATE this person. In fact, maybe you killed them. Or they killed you. Or maybe nobody killed anybody and they're just bitter that Mother Nature got to you before they did. Regardless, they want to confront you one last time before you bite it, if only to rub your nose in your imminent demise and their ability to outlive you.

[ Had this been the Yu who had grown to know him he might have recognized the sheer panic in Loki's eyes. The full emotion doesn't quite reach his face. He manages to stay neutral even if it took him a little too long to answer the question. No, instead he was staring like an idiot. ]

You. . .

[ He simultaneous hated Lucille and cherished her for this but-- ]

You have belongings here you will probably want.

[ His voice wavered a little but he had to take a second to step to the side and motion that Yu could come in. Maybe he shouldn't have invited him in. He isn't thinking about the pictures that could be anywhere or the touches of decoration that are so distinctively Yu and Fayt's style. ]

Including a cat.

[ ...he had things here? That was the last thing he expected to hear, but more importantly... ]

A cat?

[ Because that was clearly the most important thing to be concerned with. Yu clearly didn't changed much between his different selves. ]

[ Surprisingly, the same cat Yu had a while ago but Fenrir appears youthful and healthy still. After all, these were cats Gloria unleashed on the house and they all have extended lifetimes to make the witch's taste. Fenrir seems far too excited to see Yu and instantly pads over and rubs up against him.

Loki decides to ignore this little fact for now. He isn't so receptive when he finally plucked up the resolve to pack things away. ]

He's yours. His name is Fenrir. [ He cards a hand through his hair, only marginally frustrated because he just don't know what to say. ]

You can take him if you like.

[ ...oh. ]

[ ...oh that wasn't fair. He was so plush and soft and grey and he had such lovely eyes and--! Yu couldn't resist; he crouched down and gently started petting the adorable little ball of grey floof. He was so cute, he couldn't help but talk to him instead of Loki for a moment. ]

Hi there, Fenrir. You're so cute, aren't you?

[ A loud, pleased purr came from him as Yu lightly stroked his fingers along his head. Oh gosh he was so cute! ]

[ Priorities started shuffling themselves in the right order in his head, and he finally looked back up at Loki, a curious expression on his face. ]

How is he mine?

[ He didn't mind Yu temporarily paying attention to the cat. It gave Loki a moment to cast a simple illusion over the boxes he had been moving. Best not to let on they're labelled Yu's things when he...well this version of him has been here before at all.

The question provokes a mischievous smirk. ]

Magic. [ Maybe not an outright lie, if only a little vague. ] He likes you anyway. Always has.

[ ...Skipping right over that. ]

I gather you might also want the Compendium? [ And to further pad that: ] The Maeve bring people's belongings over with them, sometimes.

[ It feels weird lying to him when he wouldn't normally. ]

[ Mention of the Compendium really got Yu's attention. He barely paid attention as Fenrir tried to worm his way up onto him, absently wrapping his arms around the happy ball of fluff as he stood up. ]

H-how... how do you know about the Compendium?

[ That was an important part of his powers; it was weird that someone not from the Velvet Room know about it... unless he was, and they just had never met? He didn't look like someone Igor would employ though... ]

...who are you?

You're not the first person to come here from your world.

[ He did meet Souji at one point. Then Adachi, briefly, and whoever that girl was who didn't seem to like him much at all.

He had to laugh and it's a strange sound considering how he feels about having to provide his name again to someone he married. ]

You can call me Loki. I assume you're Yu Narukami?

[ A part of him hoped it was Souji but that felt like more of a slap in the face on Lucille's part. ]

You look like how they described. [ One lie after the other. He makes it looks easy. ] You have a sword too, if you want it.

[ He bought it as a joke years back not realizing the irony of it. ]

Mmhmm...

[ Yu nodded as he said his name, looking at him in confusion. This was Loki? The real Loki? But he... ]

...you're taller than I thought you'd be. And less blue.

[ Because what was even more of a gut punch than that? ]

[ .... ]

Excuse me?

[ He gives him a flat look. ]

Did you just say--

[ He scoffs. ]

[ Loki crossed his arms over his chest, lips pressed into a contempt line. ]

Glad to see time has absolutely no effect on your sense of humor.

[ He can't even be upset enough to cry. He's just frustrated. ]

You're cruel as always.

[ But one good thing came out of Yu being entirely predictable; he got Loki to admit he's lying indirectly. Something Yu has always been good at. ]

And for the record I'm very blue, thank you. I just don't like it.

[ And he never will nor show it often. ]

[ He was wondering why he seemed so tense. ]

So you... knew me?

[ That seemed like a weird thing to ask, but how else was he supposed to interpret what he said? He didn't recall ever being in this place -- it would be hard to miss a place where he was expected to have sex because some witches called on him to support their powers -- so he of course could not recall Loki himself. This was... so weird. ]

What's going on?

A cruel prank, as it were.

[ He doesn't confirm or deny knowing him. He just scolds himself for it. Scolds himself for that incessant pain in his chest, for how hard it is to even have this much conversation with Yu after watching him die, and for actually being happy to see him. ]

I didn't know you. I knew someone else who looked like you. Time isn't really a linear concept. So yes, a version of you has been here before.

I... see.

[ Well, the concept of alternate worlds wasn't lost on him, that was for sure, but the way he was acting... The fact that he had a cat that belonged to him, and his own Compendium. ]

Did... we...?

[ He couldn't really finish that question. It was a hard question to even imagine, especially since he was meeting this Loki for the first time. Either way, he could feel his face steadily going pink as his brain went down paths he wasn't sure it should be going. ]

[ Someone make it stop.

Yu blushing like a school girl after years of getting used to his fetishes? This is hilarious. Yeah, Loki is definitely laughing at his expense. Oh and the seductive drawl he puts on his words. Really, he can't help himself. He is a trickster, after all. ]

Wouldn't you like to know. [ An impish smile. ] Anyway, I'll go grab some of your belongings. I've an extra bag laying around somewhere I'm sure.

[ He needed a second to breathe anyway so he heads toward the staircase before Yu can say much else. Clothes and other items such as that he put in boxes but most other trinkets were scattered between Loki and Yu's bedrooms. He can focus on these objects he's packing instead of the dizzying confusion of all this. A part of him was a little torn. He didn't want to just give these away. He liked having bits and pieces around, but then it is his fault for getting so sentimental in the first place.

It's times like these he remembers just how long it has been since had been anywhere near Asgard and how much he adjusted to a more. . .regular life. Semi-regular. ]

[ Yu's face was entirely red by the time Loki disappeared into the house, and let out a faint noise as he peered in after him, not sure if he should follow. He finally carefully slipped inside, with Fenrir relocating himself so he could drape happily across Yu's shoulders. He absently reached up to pet him, his head turning around and trying to look at everything at once. This place was... just amazing; he actually lived in a place like this? That was insane...! ]

[ He found himself drifting through the foyer, pausing a moment when... he realized there was straps half hidden behind a railing. There was a thick layer of dust on them, like someone had forgotten about them a long time ago. His face turned entirely red all over again. ]

G-geeze... what did we do?

[ He didn't even realize he said that out loud. ]

Those weren't yours.

[ Okay technically they were for him but it wasn't his idea to tie Yu to the bannister. That was all Fayt. Best not to tell him too much anyway. Yu did warn him about timelines differing by way of one decision. Besides, Loki had been seeing someone recently. This is just reopening the wound. ]

If it makes you feel better. [ He offered Yu the bag once he was all the way down then fished for a necklace from his pocket. The same amulet he gave him as a wedding present. Loki didn't see a reason for him not to have it regardless of circumstances. ] Here.

[ Yu squeaked at being caught staring, jumping back and away and staring up at Loki like a child that just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He shuffled away from the staircase, for a moment not looking sure if it was really okay for him to reach out and take the bag. The amulet really made him pause, and he stared at it in surprise. ]

It's... it's beautiful.

[ That was... his? How? He glanced up at him, uncertain. ]

That... was 'mine'?

[ Stop being cute. ]

M'hm. [ He agreed. It even still had traces of Yu's previous aura to it. He has to wonder if this one will be able to tell. ]

Yes, and it's very valuable so don't lose it. Maybe you'll adjust better if you have a few things already to start with. The Maeve aren't exactly experts when it comes to acclimating their . . ."guests".

[ Loki should probably know by now, it was impossible for Yu to stop being cute. ]

[ He stared down at the amulet. He could feel... something? It felt like residual traces of his own power, but it was different at the same time. It was definitely more powerful than his current power... actually, it felt something more like what an attendant in the room would feel like. ]

[ ...how long had he been with Loki? ]

Yeah... I noticed.

[ This was really awkward, for example. He wasn't sure how to take in any of this, or how he should even react to Loki himself. Should he be more... open with him? Were the Maeve expecting him to... uh... take his own place? ]

Um... thank you.

[ Awkward was one way to put it. Loki still wasn't sure how much he should handle this. He knew he desired to kiss him, touch him, and it's those feelings that remind him no matter how hard he tried in the last few months to just forget like he used to in Asgard, it wasn't working.

He sighed. ]

. . .You don't have to stay if you don't want to.

I... admit, I'm not sure what to do.

[ Yu paused a moment, glancing over at Fenrir happily purring in his ear, before turning back to Loki. ]

I just appeared here, and I was told to come to this place, where someone I've... already been with is.

[ Or some version of him. He wasn't sure how to take it at all. ]

...I see why, but. It's still a lot to take in.

Lucille is very straight forward if not a little meddlesome.

[ Not that it was a secret they were together but she had an odd amount of information on people and their sex lives. ]

You'll get used to it. Half the reason I don't live at Lilith's Crossing anymore has much to do with the sisters' penchant for parties.

[ Yu made a face at the mention of parties at the manor. Well, at least some things never changed; Yu was still as shy as ever. ]

[ He hesitated a moment, before glancing up at him again. ]
