(CONTENT WARNING. This is a meme about death and may deal with suicide, depression, extreme violence, illnesses, etc.)

This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die.

CAUSE OF DEATH

1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligence, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or injured and are now in your last moments. This covers all kinds of accidental deaths--strangulation, drowning, car accidents, unintentional beheadings, whatever you can think of.

2 - Murder. Somebody really didn't like you. Enough to kill you, it seems. You're now dead by someone else's hand. (Maybe even the person replying to you?) As with accidental death, this covers all types of intentional, malicious murder, regardless of method--so poisoning, stabbing, shooting, etc., all work here. Same with all the below options: any possible variation you can think of on it will work!

3 - Suicide. There is no hope for you, and no way out. You've reached the absolute bottom pits of despair, and the only recourse you have is to take your own life. Someone shows up to stop you... but they're too late to help you now.

4 - Terminal illness. You have cancer, or tuberculosis, or cholera back when people got cholera. The doctors have done everything they could and it wasn't enough. The only thing to do now is give your loved ones the bad news.

5 - Starvation. So thirsty. So hungry. Maybe you've been traveling in the desert for hours, or maybe you're just really poor. Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because you're slowly wasting away until you're nothing but skin and bones.

6 - Death in battle. You've died a hero's death, and gone out in a blaze of glory. Or maybe you were a coward who got shot for deserting? Either way, you're now a casualty of war. Will you be honored with a parade or scorned as a traitor to your country?

7 - Natural causes. You've lived a long, happy life, and now your story is at an end. In a warm bed, surrounded by your family and friends, you peacefully drift off. Just make sure that you've made a will somewhere, or at least use your deathbed to set the record straight. Otherwise, who knows what kind of squabbles might errupt after you leave this world?

TIME LEFT

1 - A few minutes. You're fading fast and you don't have much, well, any time left. Better tell the person with you that you love -- or despise -- them with your last breath, because you'll never have the chance otherwise.

2 - A few hours. You haven't got much time left. Is there someone you still need to kill? To kiss? Better do it quick. (Note: last kisses not recommended for people dying of highly contagious illnesses.)

3 - A few days. The doctors have given you the news, and it's not very good. You've only got a couple days left to live. You should start trying to make peace with people and saying your final goodbyes with the days you have left.

4 - A few weeks. Take that vacation you've always wanted to go on but never had the chance to. Go do that thing you've never thought you'd be any good at. You've got only weeks left to live. Don't waste them.

5 - A few months. While you aren't quite on death's doorstep yet, your lifespan has still dwindled considerably from what you probably thought it would be. How are you going to spend your last few months on Earth? Making the world a better place and telling your family you love them? Or raising as much hell as possible?

RELATIONSHIP

1 - Lovers. This is your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, mistress, whatever you call them they were the person you wanted to spend your life with. Too bad you don't have much of a life to spend with them anymore.

2 - Siblings. Your beloved little or older sibling is just standing there, watching you slowly waste away before their eyes. Can you say anything to comfort them? Note that it doesn't necessarily have to be interpreted literally; adopted siblings and friends so close they might as well be siblings work too.

3 - Parent and child. Nothing is worse than a parent having to bury their child... except, maybe, a young child now alone in the world after losing their parent. As with the sibling prompt, this can be expanded to include parental figures and people who are LIKE a father/mother to you as well as actual biological parents.

4 - Co-workers, teammates or classmates. You were fighting for the same side. Or you worked together in the same office for years. Or they sat behind you in biology all semester. However you met, how do your react when you find out someone who used to be a fixture in your life is going to die?

5 - Friends. You're the best of friends! You go everywhere together, know all each other's secrets, and are never seen apart. At least, you didn't use to be. Now one of you is dying and the other one is left alone in the world. Or maybe you're dying together. Wait, is that better or worse?

6 - Bitter enemies. You hate, hate, HATE this person. In fact, maybe you killed them. Or they killed you. Or maybe nobody killed anybody and they're just bitter that Mother Nature got to you before they did. Regardless, they want to confront you one last time before you bite it, if only to rub your nose in your imminent demise and their ability to outlive you.

[ So he made the right decision. Interesting he still has so much in common with his other self. She has to wonder what about her personality will finally turn him away. She has never pretended to be a good person no matter the circumstances.

Why is she even thinking about this as if she'll see him often? ]

You hope? [ A snort. ] He is a murderer. [ So is she but he doesn't know all the details. Besides, why miss out on the opportunity to pick apart Yu's mind? ]

I know.

[ A soft, fond smile came to his face. ]

But he's still a friend, and family. I believe in him, and I believe he deserves another chance.

[ That was just the kind of person he was. He knew he could have been like Adachi, very easily at that, just as much as he knew Adachi could have been like him. He saw the Hope that was in him, however, and he wanted to see him find it for himself. Was that so wrong? ]

[ He nibbled thoughtfully on his cookie, peering at her curiously. ]

...the two of you have a lot in common. You're both kind people, though you don't like to show it.

How noble. [ Noble like someone she could name easily but it has been nearly a century since she last saw Thor. ]

Kind? [ She barely choked back a laugh, too beside herself with that joke. ] Kindness isn't what I'd call anything I do.

Perhaps, affectionate. Maybe, loving, but not kind. [ She shakes her head. ] Being kind entails I have emotions to give away freely and I don't.

[ Yu didn't answer right away, only because he was pausing to finish off the first cookie. He could feel a little warmth under his collar once he got to the black part of the black and white cookie, but nothing that was weirdly out of place. ]

Maybe, but you're lying more to yourself than you are to me.

[ Sorry, Loki; he's told off three gods by now. He's not afraid to do the same to you. ]

Besides, I don't think you'd have even invited me in if that were remotely true.

I invited you because you look and act like a dead...[ pause ] friend, not to show you around Eros in exchange for nothing.

[ How is he--? ]

That's not kind, that's selfish.

[ There was that mysterious smile on his face, one that Loki was probably familiar with. It was a smile that, even though the next words out of his mouth would be agreement or giving in to her words, he was still calling her a liar. ]

Sure.

[ He paused again, nibbling on his next cookie, glancing out at the street as he did so. There was a lot more he wanted to explore, and he really wanted to do it with Loki. ]

...is there somewhere we can go dancing?

[ That... might have been a slap to the face. Getting Yu to dance previously was like pulling teeth; he was incredibly shy and awkward about it, and would usually restrict himself to one dance, maybe two if alcohol was involved. And here he was again, bedecked in a stage version of his school outfit, asking her to dance. ]

[ Typical she looks frustrated with him, but the look really isn't for him. It's the subtle annoyance that always pops up no matter how or why Yu always sounds so condescending when he agrees with her. No wonder she got used to telling him the truth. ]

. . .Yes, there are plenty of places this time of year during the winter festivals.

[ She should feel so offended. She liked dancing. It was fun when she could manage to get Yu to do it, but . . .

Why did she have to try so hard to get him to open up before, and now he's all but taking the reigns? How much has changed between the two different timelines? ]

I thought you disliked dancing. [ Okay, fine she can't resist bland diatribe on this subject. He deserves it. ]

I used to.

[ Yu paused, and Loki was treated to his face pinking in a blush. ]

A friend of mine convinced me and our other friends to be her backup dancers in her comeback performance. That's... um... why I'm wearing this.

[ He reached up, tugging slightly at the collar of his outfit. ]

[ She resisted saying Rise was the friend but then she can only pretend to not know so much. Loki leaned back against her chair, crossing her arms over her chest. ]

I really can't imagine you on stage for anything.

[ A small smirk broke through her annoyance. ]

I figured that wasn't yours Mr. Tall, Dark and Grey.

I couldn't either until I ended up there.

[ He ducked his head shyly, tugging at the outfit again. It was certainly comfortable, as it was tailored specifically for him. None of his school uniforms had ever fit so perfectly. ]

[ After a moment, he peered up at her again, an excited light in his eyes. ]

I'll have to show you how good at it I got.

[ Loki can't believe she agree to this. A part of her hoped he had absolutely no skill if only to soothe her wounded spirit over him barely being convinced to do most anything in a different timeline. While Loki isn't ignorant to dancing, obviously seeing as she is royal. Warring race or not they've had enough years of peace where she had to learn for social events.

If Eros has anything, it's swing music. Upbeat and easy to catch onto. ]

Are you ready or will I have to drag you onto the floor?

[ By the time they got to a place, Yu had finished off his cookies, and the heat that had been creeping under his collar had full on blossomed. He wasn't sweating from it, but looking at Loki had been hard as they got to where the music was piping through the air. A strong sense of desire hit him every time he did, and it was obvious in his eyes when he looked at her now. ]

[ Whatever; he could still work through this. ]

[ He smiled at her jibe, reaching over for her hand and tugging her along with him. Granted, he hadn't been leading a dance yet, but he could figure it out easily enough. It was basically the same as he had been doing, and he was determined to prove that. ]

Think you'll be able to keep up with me?

[ He pulled her against him for a moment, feeling a little bolder after the effects of whatever was in the cookies he had eaten. It didn't last long as he was pushing her off, pulling her into the swing of the music with him. ]

[ She didn't have time to answer his question before she found herself falling into step with him, easily keeping up. She did mess up once, unused to swing steps but it was only minor.

But the whole affair put her in a good mood, even if she couldn't help a slight tinge of odd jealousy sweeping through her. Why did her husband never want much to do with such things? ]

I had no idea you were so good at this.

[ She forgot again, seeing as at the end of the dance she left her arms wrapped around his shoulders and her body pressed against his. ]

It's cute.

[ Yu? Yu made it look easy. It was obvious he wasn't a natural at dancing, and it had taken a lot of practice to get to the point he was at. But after everything was said and done, he was clearly enjoying himself. ]

[ He didn't seem to mind Loki's closeness. If anything he was relishing it, his hands resting comfortably on her hips like they were supposed to be there. ]

Thanks.

[ ...hell with it. Yu leaned forward, pressing his lips against her softly, his heart still pounding from dancing and the slow burning aphrodisiac that had been in those cookies. ]

[ Even so, he had enough of a handle she couldn't tell.

Loki caved to returning his kiss, briefly, before she pushed back with a frown. ]

I was wondering when those cookies might set in since you had a few. [ She needed to catch her breath, but she couldn't afford to look affected. Is everything going to happen in opposites between them? Wasn't she the one who kissed him first? ]

Drink some water. It'll help. [ She took his hand to guide him away from the their spot on the dance floor trying very desperately not to look back at him. What the Hel is she doing? ]

[ It was hard to miss the disappointed look on his face when she pulled away. There was clearly a, "But I wanted to do that!" hanging on the tip of his tongue, but he didn't let it out. Instead he let out a faint sound of agreement, holding her hand tight as he tagged along after her, accepting the water when it was offered to him and drinking deeply. ]

[ Had she any sense she might leave him here and save herself the grief of wading through this process twice.

He kissed her.

Why did she get the same feeling in the pit of her stomach as she did with her husband? Loki let out a sigh. ]

I'm sorry. [ She said finally. ] I can't let you kiss me. I don't think that's fair to you.

Why?

[ He gave her an innocent over the lip of his cup, tilting his head slightly. She was... scared, he could tell that much, and he felt a little bad that he hadn't done much assuage her fears. After a moment, he reached for her hand again, giving it a squeeze. ]

I don't do anything I don't want to do.

[ She could chose not to believe that, but he was never anything but honest. ]

[ He is as selfish as she is and it gets a few snickers out of her. He's always thinking about her well being and she is always thinking about herself. It's selfish considering their priorities.

Loki allowed herself the pleasure of threading their fingers together out of habit. ]

Because I do not think you realize what you're doing. [ She may as well be frank with him. ] If you did you'd be a lot more considerate.

Sorry.

[ He did mean that, even if he didn't sound very sorry. It wasn't really very fair that he didn't have a full grasp of his previous relationship with her, other than it must have been intimate enough that he stayed with her until he died. He could see why, though. ]

You're charming.

[ And fun to be around, and... well, even if it was more the cookies than himself thinking it, really attractive. ]

No, you're not. [ She stepped closer to him just to place a kiss on his cheek. Innocent and chaste for the time being. ]

Thank you.

[ She has a feeling it's all from the aphrodisiac so she makes sure to keep her hands to herself for the time being. ]

Even if you don't mean it all on your own.

Maybe not, but I can see why I fell in love with you once already.

[ She could be innocent all she wanted, but he didn't want to be. He pulled her close again for another kiss, lingering as much as she would let him. ]

[ Whatever forces are at work to demand she see Yu again, they're vastly overestimating her ability to maintain a normal facade. It's so easy to kiss him, lean into his warmth and let her lips linger against his when she speaks. ]

You've been here for a day, love, and you've had aphrodisiac. [ She smiles. ] Don't say things you're going to regret.

[ Because she hasn't finished grieving him and she can't say she isn't crazy enough to fall in love with him all over again. ]

Mm... technically, aphrodisiacs work by enhancing sexual craving, not pull attraction out of thin air.

[ He was still in high school, he could get away with saying things like that. Besides, since she hadn't moved very far away from him, he wasn't exactly willing to part from her. His hands were resting gently on her hips, his thumb gently stroking her side. ]

[ He could tell he was craving her, and that was very much due to the aphrodisiac, but the attraction? Nah; that had started pretty much the moment he laid eyes on him. It was weird to admit that, considering he never had that reaction to someone before, but he wasn't going to argue it. ]

[ Loki isn't one for tears. They sting every time they threaten to come up but somehow him just saying he's still attracted to puts a lump in her throat. She remembers the very last second she heard his voice, the last heave of his chest, and the stillness of his body against hers. She remembers lighting the pyre and vowing she'd never even consider his dying wish.

And here she was kissing a familiar face, clinging onto some desperate hope she would keep it together long enough to show this version of him around just to satisfy the guilty pleasure of being able to see him again. ]

I've missed you so much. [ She whispered as she just rested her head against his shoulder and managed to calm herself. ] And you don't even know why.

[ It's a momentary slip up triggered by intimacy she craves, but she quickly sobers up squashing those emotions down with a practiced smile. ]
