(CONTENT WARNING. This is a meme about death and may deal with suicide, depression, extreme violence, illnesses, etc.)

This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die.


CAUSE OF DEATH

1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligence, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or injured and are now in your last moments. This covers all kinds of accidental deaths--strangulation, drowning, car accidents, unintentional beheadings, whatever you can think of.

2 - Murder. Somebody really didn't like you. Enough to kill you, it seems. You're now dead by someone else's hand. (Maybe even the person replying to you?) As with accidental death, this covers all types of intentional, malicious murder, regardless of method--so poisoning, stabbing, shooting, etc., all work here. Same with all the below options: any possible variation you can think of on it will work!

3 - Suicide. There is no hope for you, and no way out. You've reached the absolute bottom pits of despair, and the only recourse you have is to take your own life. Someone shows up to stop you... but they're too late to help you now.

4 - Terminal illness. You have cancer, or tuberculosis, or cholera back when people got cholera. The doctors have done everything they could and it wasn't enough. The only thing to do now is give your loved ones the bad news.

5 - Starvation. So thirsty. So hungry. Maybe you've been traveling in the desert for hours, or maybe you're just really poor. Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because you're slowly wasting away until you're nothing but skin and bones.

6 - Death in battle. You've died a hero's death, and gone out in a blaze of glory. Or maybe you were a coward who got shot for deserting? Either way, you're now a casualty of war. Will you be honored with a parade or scorned as a traitor to your country?

7 - Natural causes. You've lived a long, happy life, and now your story is at an end. In a warm bed, surrounded by your family and friends, you peacefully drift off. Just make sure that you've made a will somewhere, or at least use your deathbed to set the record straight. Otherwise, who knows what kind of squabbles might errupt after you leave this world?

TIME LEFT

1 - A few minutes. You're fading fast and you don't have much, well, any time left. Better tell the person with you that you love -- or despise -- them with your last breath, because you'll never have the chance otherwise.

2 - A few hours. You haven't got much time left. Is there someone you still need to kill? To kiss? Better do it quick. (Note: last kisses not recommended for people dying of highly contagious illnesses.)

3 - A few days. The doctors have given you the news, and it's not very good. You've only got a couple days left to live. You should start trying to make peace with people and saying your final goodbyes with the days you have left.

4 - A few weeks. Take that vacation you've always wanted to go on but never had the chance to. Go do that thing you've never thought you'd be any good at. You've got only weeks left to live. Don't waste them.

5 - A few months. While you aren't quite on death's doorstep yet, your lifespan has still dwindled considerably from what you probably thought it would be. How are you going to spend your last few months on Earth? Making the world a better place and telling your family you love them? Or raising as much hell as possible?

RELATIONSHIP

1 - Lovers. This is your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, mistress, whatever you call them they were the person you wanted to spend your life with. Too bad you don't have much of a life to spend with them anymore.

2 - Siblings. Your beloved little or older sibling is just standing there, watching you slowly waste away before their eyes. Can you say anything to comfort them? Note that it doesn't necessarily have to be interpreted literally; adopted siblings and friends so close they might as well be siblings work too.

3 - Parent and child. Nothing is worse than a parent having to bury their child... except, maybe, a young child now alone in the world after losing their parent. As with the sibling prompt, this can be expanded to include parental figures and people who are LIKE a father/mother to you as well as actual biological parents.

4 - Co-workers, teammates or classmates. You were fighting for the same side. Or you worked together in the same office for years. Or they sat behind you in biology all semester. However you met, how do your react when you find out someone who used to be a fixture in your life is going to die?

5 - Friends. You're the best of friends! You go everywhere together, know all each other's secrets, and are never seen apart. At least, you didn't use to be. Now one of you is dying and the other one is left alone in the world. Or maybe you're dying together. Wait, is that better or worse?

6 - Bitter enemies. You hate, hate, HATE this person. In fact, maybe you killed them. Or they killed you. Or maybe nobody killed anybody and they're just bitter that Mother Nature got to you before they did. Regardless, they want to confront you one last time before you bite it, if only to rub your nose in your imminent demise and their ability to outlive you.

[ The police academy isn't too far of a walk. A lot like those present in other realms, there are plenty of different buildings. Some look like small airplane hangers and others are more elaborate. Getting a tour isn't hard either when magic can track what others are doing and if they go off the path of the tour. ]

The one in Eros is larger but, over there. [ She pointed just off to the right. ] They run all the soon to be officers through different scenarios. Active shooter, and the like.

[ It's a little strange to be explaining this when she had it explained to her. Her Yu did not become a detective but he did plenty of research. She often wondered if something was holding him back. ]

[ Yu hung on her every word, trying to look around at everything at once. He finally paused when she stopped talking, turning a curious gaze to her. ]

...did the other me join law enforcement?

No. I suspect he never thought he was good enough to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

[ Or rather he felt too guilty. She never asked for specifics. It wasn't her place to pry. ]

I knew he was interested by no amount of my encouragement could change anything. Then again I suppose it would be hard to be a detective when you're dating a god who has a reputation for committing war crimes.

[ Yu let out a faint noise at that, shaking his head. ]

Yeah, I imagine that would be difficult for a detective's career.

[ ...he was still smiling despite that, however. ]

I don't pretend to be who I am not.

[ A chuckle. ]

You'll be fine, I'm sure. You'll find it's very hard to investigate crimes I'm involved in.

[ She winks. Is she serious? Hard to say but she will let him guess. ]

[ He smiled faintly, almost fondly at her. ]

...yeah, I can see why it would be.

[ It's pretty clear he's not talking about how devious she is. ]

Careful, you might fall in love with me before you can meet anyone else.

[ She is teasing, but almost serious. Loki waved for him to follow so they could head into one of training areas. It's one of the more spacious ones that had a focus on building field skills rather than purely deductive reasoning. ]

There is a shooting range in here open to the public, if you want to test it out.

[ Yu murmured something that may have been, "Too late for that," but it was hard to tell. He followed behind her, peering into the shooting range. ]

I don't know... I've never used a gun before.

[ He flashed a sheepish smile at that. ]

I'm better with swords.

[shapesifs]

[ A brow quirk. ]

You can use a sword?

[ Color Loki surprised. ]

That seems a bit medieval as far as Midgard is concerned. [ Where did he ever learn how? ]

[ Yu pinked slightly, running his hand through his hair. ]

I ah... I used it in the TV world and afterwards. It started as teaching myself, but when I got back home to the city, I joined my school's kendo club.

[shapesifs]

[ Well, well so the hero has a sword with him when he chooses differently. She isn't entirely shocked. Actually, it's rather attractive. ]

Do you have it with you back at the house?

[ A small smile. ]

I want to see how well you can use it.

[linefacingforever]

It's actually in my things.

[ He paused, flushing slightly. ]

...old habits die hard.

[shapesifs]

Were you planning on slaying a dragon or two?

[ She laughed. ]

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I don't go anywhere without my daggers.

[linefacingforever]

No; they're sacred.

[ ...it's hard to tell if he's being serious or if he's being playful. ]

I'm just used to having it on me.

[shapesifs]

Not here they aren't.

[ Actually, most of the ones here are complete and utter assholes unless you happen to be royalty. Loki just lucked out. ]

I was being facetious.

[linefacingforever]

I was joking.

[ He flashed her a smile at that, even his eyes seeming to smile at her. ]

If you want, we could spar later.

[shapesifs]

[ She looked almost disappointed for a moment. That's not fair. It took her Yu quite a long time to actually get her to fall for simple tricks. ]

I don't know if you're prepared to spar with me, but I promise I won't use anything lethal against your sword.

[ A chuckle. ]

[ Well, if there was anything this Yu had, it was confidence. In spades. ]

[ Clearly she wasn't used to such a thing, and he'll only catch it in the way she laughs. She lead them into the gun range, handing Yu the gear he needed. She used the same, even if the noise wasn't enough to damage her hearing, the few minutes of ringing she had were always annoying afterward. ]

Have you ever used any other projectiles?

[ Yu paused a moment, considering... ]

Does throwing a wrench at Yosuke count?

[ Not really, but... ]

[shapesifs]

Wrenches do not have enough kick back to sprain your wrist.

[ Though it is sort of comical imagining Yu, of all people, throwing wrenches at someone. She loaded the handgun and offer it up to him. ]

At any rate you'll need to hold it with both hands. Your good arm is used for aiming and you're going to use your other for stabilization. [ A sly smile. ] Aside from that, they're pretty easy to use.

[ It was totally an accident! ...sort of. ]

[ Yu nodded patiently, raising the weapon like Loki instructed, but... he seemed to freeze up for a moment, like something just sprang to the back of his mind. He hesitated, before lowering the weapon. ]

Ah... maybe not. Sorry.

Why ever not?

[ It's going to be very difficult for him to work as a police officer if he can't shoot a gun, especially on Mokosh. ]

[ Yu was quiet for a moment, before he let out a sigh, shaking his head like he was reprimanding himself. ]

...I had tried to talk to Adachi-san alone, when we realized he was the one responsible for the murders back home. He fired his gun at me.

[ He smiled sadly, letting out a faint laugh. ]

I guess it bothers me more than I thought it did.

[shapesifs]

[ It isn't so much that Loki doesn't understand. She has spent enough time around humans to know they have particularly delicate sensibilities but she takes the gun from his hand.

If he isn't going to use it, she will. Using the shooting range isn't free. ]

And are you expecting the Academy to pity you when you tell them that?

[ Maybe it's heartless to say, but she doesn't wait for his answer. She isn't as good with firearms, but good enough to drop someone after two or three shoots. It isn't as if she uses these regularly, but the fact that her main skill is projectiles helps. ]
