the death meme

the death meme
(CONTENT WARNING. This is a meme about death and may deal with suicide, depression, extreme violence, illnesses, etc.)
This is it. The final curtain. You're at the end of your life, and there's someone here you really, really need to say something to before you die.
CAUSE OF DEATH
1 - Accidental. Nobody meant for this to happen, but it doesn't matter now. Due to negligence, arrogance or just plain bad luck, you've become gravely ill or injured and are now in your last moments. This covers all kinds of accidental deaths--strangulation, drowning, car accidents, unintentional beheadings, whatever you can think of.
2 - Murder. Somebody really didn't like you. Enough to kill you, it seems. You're now dead by someone else's hand. (Maybe even the person replying to you?) As with accidental death, this covers all types of intentional, malicious murder, regardless of method--so poisoning, stabbing, shooting, etc., all work here. Same with all the below options: any possible variation you can think of on it will work!
3 - Suicide. There is no hope for you, and no way out. You've reached the absolute bottom pits of despair, and the only recourse you have is to take your own life. Someone shows up to stop you... but they're too late to help you now.
4 - Terminal illness. You have cancer, or tuberculosis, or cholera back when people got cholera. The doctors have done everything they could and it wasn't enough. The only thing to do now is give your loved ones the bad news.
5 - Starvation. So thirsty. So hungry. Maybe you've been traveling in the desert for hours, or maybe you're just really poor. Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter, because you're slowly wasting away until you're nothing but skin and bones.
6 - Death in battle. You've died a hero's death, and gone out in a blaze of glory. Or maybe you were a coward who got shot for deserting? Either way, you're now a casualty of war. Will you be honored with a parade or scorned as a traitor to your country?
7 - Natural causes. You've lived a long, happy life, and now your story is at an end. In a warm bed, surrounded by your family and friends, you peacefully drift off. Just make sure that you've made a will somewhere, or at least use your deathbed to set the record straight. Otherwise, who knows what kind of squabbles might errupt after you leave this world?
TIME LEFT
1 - A few minutes. You're fading fast and you don't have much, well, any time left. Better tell the person with you that you love -- or despise -- them with your last breath, because you'll never have the chance otherwise.
2 - A few hours. You haven't got much time left. Is there someone you still need to kill? To kiss? Better do it quick. (Note: last kisses not recommended for people dying of highly contagious illnesses.)
3 - A few days. The doctors have given you the news, and it's not very good. You've only got a couple days left to live. You should start trying to make peace with people and saying your final goodbyes with the days you have left.
4 - A few weeks. Take that vacation you've always wanted to go on but never had the chance to. Go do that thing you've never thought you'd be any good at. You've got only weeks left to live. Don't waste them.
5 - A few months. While you aren't quite on death's doorstep yet, your lifespan has still dwindled considerably from what you probably thought it would be. How are you going to spend your last few months on Earth? Making the world a better place and telling your family you love them? Or raising as much hell as possible?
RELATIONSHIP
1 - Lovers. This is your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, mistress, whatever you call them they were the person you wanted to spend your life with. Too bad you don't have much of a life to spend with them anymore.
2 - Siblings. Your beloved little or older sibling is just standing there, watching you slowly waste away before their eyes. Can you say anything to comfort them? Note that it doesn't necessarily have to be interpreted literally; adopted siblings and friends so close they might as well be siblings work too.
3 - Parent and child. Nothing is worse than a parent having to bury their child... except, maybe, a young child now alone in the world after losing their parent. As with the sibling prompt, this can be expanded to include parental figures and people who are LIKE a father/mother to you as well as actual biological parents.
4 - Co-workers, teammates or classmates. You were fighting for the same side. Or you worked together in the same office for years. Or they sat behind you in biology all semester. However you met, how do your react when you find out someone who used to be a fixture in your life is going to die?
5 - Friends. You're the best of friends! You go everywhere together, know all each other's secrets, and are never seen apart. At least, you didn't use to be. Now one of you is dying and the other one is left alone in the world. Or maybe you're dying together. Wait, is that better or worse?
6 - Bitter enemies. You hate, hate, HATE this person. In fact, maybe you killed them. Or they killed you. Or maybe nobody killed anybody and they're just bitter that Mother Nature got to you before they did. Regardless, they want to confront you one last time before you bite it, if only to rub your nose in your imminent demise and their ability to outlive you.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Post your character and preference
2. Respond to others.
3. Tell the person what you need to tell them before you bite it.
4. Have fun!

I promise I have most things under control.
[ Death obviously cannot be controlled otherwise she might have figured that out already. Of her own volition she kisses him this time. ]
You seem so carefree.
no subject
I think the cookies are helping me relax.
[ That, and the dancing was something familiar, and helped put him at ease. And the company he was keeping at the moment was definitely a calming one as well, especially as she seemed more at ease after the small cry she had. ]
I try to keep positive. After everything that's happened, it's important to me.
no subject
Here she finds herself following, even as she leads the dance. There isn't anything wrong with how he changed when he made the decision he so desired. She just now feels as if she doesn't deserve him.
Her skin might be flushed and her eyes a little red from her own pain but she maintained a smile. ]
I mean you just seem happier, is all. [ A beat. ] Not that staying positive is a particularly bad thing.
[ No, it just reminds her too much of her brother and living in the shade of his greatness. She has a type and those are broken souls like herself so she has an excuse to think the way she does with her altered memories from the Mind Stone. ]
It's just....different.
no subject
[ After a moment, he stroked her hand gently with his thumb, as if quietly reassuring her. ]
I guess... me at my worst would be drastically different from me at my best.
[ Again, there was that soft smile, the kind that seemed to make his eyes light up with his happiness, and it was aimed right at her. ]
But if you could love me then, isn't it only fair for you to have a chance with me now?
no subject
If she seems disarmed by his smile it has everything to do with it not being offered so freely before. He is stunning. She has always thought so. She really should stop staring considering she even stopped midstep in the dance. ]
You're so handsome when you smile. [ She mentioned as an afterthought only to blush about it indignantly. What a stupid thing for her, of all people, to say. ]
...No, it isn't. At least then your sins matched up with mine. [ Mostly. ] Even if I said I wouldn't see you because of that I already know that would only last a day. [ If that with it being months since she last saw him alive. ]
no subject
Well, if it helps, I want to see you.
[ So they were even. No arguments to be had, right? ]
1/2 also timeskip
Then I'll keep you to your word.

It's the middle of December by the time he even bothers to seek out Yu first and it for something entirely innocent. Too bad Loki still used it as an excuse to see Yu. He knocked lightly on the guest room door, slipping inside. ]
I need your help with something, if you don't mind.
no subject
[ Yu was busy pouring over some books when Loki entered his room, scribbling information down in a notebook. Just because he wasn't going to school, didn't mean he wasn't using his time learning, and he was giving himself homework and study sheets on the history of the place he had ended up in. It was a moment before he looked up at Loki's entrance, tilting his head curiously. ]
I don't mind. What do you need?
no subject
Loki glanced down at the books briefly, wondering if Yu had picked those up from the library that now took up most of the spare room. ]
I have an obligation to Lucille and I thought it only fitting if you tag along since this requires someone else.
[ Vaguaries are just easier when it comes to Lucille's assignments which are often sexual in nature or ardently violent with crime. ]
I have to meet Emilio. Apparently, he summoned you--with the ritual the witches use to bring people here. [ Which means the Maeve wants something from him that he doesn't want to give. ]
no subject
[ Yu paused at that, a surprised look coming to his face. He had read enough about the sisters to know that wasn't something they would just let go by with a slap on the wrist. That was invading their territory, and he had a feeling he knew what this was going to involve. ]
[ He leaned back in his chair, studying Loki's face intently, as if he was expecting the next words out of his mouth to be a lie. ]
Are you being sent to kill him?
no subject
No, I'm stripping him of his bond with you which could kill him.
[ He keeps a straight face despite the scrutiny. ]
I have to transfer your bond to Lucille.
[ And despite Emilio being a better person since violence is strictly prohibited in Onsra, he'd rather stick with the evil he knows how to handle. ]
no subject
[ Yu paused, tilting his head thoughtfully. ]
...is there a way to make him willingly transfer that bond? Would it not kill him if he did it willingly?
[ Because if there was one thing Yu wanted to avoid, was having blood on his hands. There always had to be a peaceful option... even if said peaceful option lead to scaring the ever living shit out of someone. ]
no subject
[ Getting Emilio to agree isn't something he can accomplish with all the charm in the world unless he offers him something--
Loki frowns. ]
Alternatively, I do own something he might be interested in but I suspect that thing is what the Maeve want.
[ He waves a hand. ]
That option isn't on the table.
[ Considering him and the Yu he married tried to steal an Infinity Stone from Loki's timeline only to figure out someone was protecting the stone dedicated to time--
He wasn't keen to be face to face with people who actually gave him a run for his money in magic a second time in a row when they both barely escaped with their lives. ]
no subject
[ Yu stood up then, an earnest expression on his face. He pressed a hand to his heart, before dipping forward in a formal bow. ]
Please.
[ He peered up at him after a moment. ]
If it doesn't work, then I will turn an eye to whatever happens as a result.
no subject
Loki crossed his arms over his chest, looking away. ]
That's fine. [ He conceded, unwilling to argue, but he couldn't place why. ] I just can't assure you it'll go well. Either way, I won't be seeing him until later in the week so I suppose you have time to come up with something convincing.
[ A beat. ]
I'll help, I suppose.
no subject
Don't worry. I already have an idea.
no subject
What are you plotting? [ There might be a little derision present in his tone. ] This isn't a game.
[ Not when Yu is directly involved, anyway. In any other circumstance Loki wouldn't feel compelled to comply at all. ]
no subject
[ Yu's expression immediately shifted, and it couldn't be any more obvious that he was taking the situation very seriously, despite his response. ]
I know how to treat situations like these. Please don't think I don't.
[ It was a moment, before the smile was back on his face. ]
Besides, if I fail, you can handle it however you want.
no subject
I can't--[ He cuts himself off and immediately dismisses the thought. Maybe it's only been a month or so but he has gotten better at separating this Yu from the one he knew. Maybe he can't lose him again, but this isn't the same person.
He has no right to even act slightly protective. They aren't dating and probably never will.
Loki just shrugs. ]
I can leave you to your studies then. [ A very bad sort of exit phrase but he needed an excuse not to say anything else he doesn't mean to. ]
no subject
...you don't have to leave.
no subject
[ He put on a practiced smile, but he doesn't shake him off.]
I don't want to interrupt longer than I have to.
no subject
[ He paused a moment, before he let out a breath. ]
But... I want to learn more about you, too.
no subject
[ He was tempted to be difficult and answer in the most complicated fashion possible, but he kept his sarcasm to himself for now. ]
You'll have to be patient. [ He carded a hand through his hair. ] From my perspective I often forget you don't know as much as. . .another version of you did about me.
[ A tilt of his head. ]
You can ask whatever you like. [ And he might answer depending on the question. ]
no subject
How did you fall in love with the other me.
[ There was literally no subtlety with Yu. ]
