trust ONLY you Intimacy is wonderful, no doubt...but you just can't. For you, you can't let someone in like that, can't let your guard down, or just don't want to. There's also the possibility that you actually cannot be close and candid like that, unless you want to risk their safety and yours. It could, however, be a much more normal case: you were burned in the past by someone, and you don't want that to happen again, or no matter how much of an open book you are in all other aspects of your life, sexuality makes you clam up and retreat. You just can't be with someone - at least not just anyone. Until the right person comes along, then everything changes. Their strength, their kindness, or their trust in you makes you trust them; finally, there's someone you can be honest with and be comfortable enough with to explore a side of you that's had to be locked up. Whenever you have an urge, you can turn to a partner who can give you relief. Whether your tastes be a kink you've always secretly had or just a vanilla, consensual connection, don't be hesitant to let go. Yeah, and it's not as easy as it looks.

[ He jostles back lightly. Sam's no technical genius, but he knows his wings and has made it a point to know every nook and cranny. He can't afford to have a weapons malfunction during a mission. ]

( being an assistant working with tech sounds good. doing anything normal that lets scott think less of where they are and how they're in hiding is good.

[ Besides, he'd be supervising but Sam can see where Scott was going with this. ]

( scott pauses just to let that sink in, and then clears his throat. )

... like now? Like after you finish your cold coffee now?

[wingmans]

[ Oh, Scott. Sam takes another perfunctory sip. ]

Now is good. Let's go.

[tictacs]

( scott's happy to deposit his mug on the counter in the room (with some quiet promise to himself that he'll wash it later, seriously!) and bound up behind sam, hands shoved into his pockets. )

You sure you're not gonna finish that cold coffee?

[wingmans]

Coffee can wait another day, man.

[ Sam heads down to the weapons locker. He promised T'Challa he wouldn't use it around Wakanda, but they could access their weapons any time. Sam has never been so relieved when Steve came to get them - along with their gear. ]

But I worked so hard--

( yeah, okay, no use in bitching. scott inhales, pulls his pants up, and quickly makes his way after sam with a bit more hop to his step. )

[wingmans]

[ Sam activates it via thumbprint and the locker pops open. Sam takes a moment to appreciate the wings. It had been easy - almost too easy to put them on again and take to the skies. Sam had it lucky. ]

Feast your eyes on some fine wings.

( oh, man--it's way different seeing tech up close and personal outside of a combat setting. hell, it's probably one of the most beautiful things scott could ever witness outside of cassie doing anything.

Very little of it. I mean, I tried my hand at the drawing board but the army is what made it work.

[ He smiles down on it fondly. ] This is probably the only test version left.

Special set of wings for a special guy, I'll say. ( nudge, nudge. wink, wink. scott's pretty good at ruining sentimental moments, now being no exception. ) How do you tune her up the--oh, crap, is this where I get the toolbox?

[wingmans]

[ Sam raises his brow at that, but doesn't succumb. ]

This is the part where you get the toolbox. Know where that is, Mr. Handyman?

Have a little faith in me! I'm not that hopeless.

( except... maybe he is. it takes opening several compartments before scott finally finds what he needs and returns to sam's side, looking for all the world like a scavenger. )

Didn't, uh, take long at all.

[wingmans]

[ Sam claps him on the back. ]

Thanks, Scott. Okay, so see the wiring here? It needs to be connected to the wings at all times. But the folding makes them weak. Easy to break.

[tictacs]

( comrades or not, scott is still basically ready to go 'oh jeez' when sam's hand touches him. heroes! he's in the company of heroes! in hiding, but with heroes!

he swallows that horribly embarrassing part of himself down and peers at sam's tech instead. )

You ever try finding a way to strengthen the outer covers?

[wingmans]

No. Couldn't figure out a material durable enough to withstand the strain. Why, got any ideas?

[ He means that honestly. Sam doesn't look down at Scott. He's seen first-hand what the man can do. ]

For the covering you'll definitely need to melt some plastics... but if you're looking to try making new wires in general, something with silver, I was thinking, for the basic idea of it.

( scott crouches, his eyes now on level with the wings as he regards it. he wants to take the compartment off and poke at its insides, but he'll wait for permission--if it comes. )

Pure silver is one of the most malleable, durable metals out there. 's why they're worth so much as jewelry and why they can make so many things. If you made silver wires you wouldn't need coverings any more... theoretically.

You'll only need to add some other metal in to counter against silver's high thermal conductability. Don't want your pretty wings over-heating, after all.

Huh.

[ He follows Scott's gaze as he considers this alternative. ] We'll never get enough silver for all of them.

[tictacs]

That's why I said alloy. Or maybe we could figure out some other chemical composition similar to silver... I mean, if we'll be in Wakanda a long time, might as well put it to use.

( the corner of his mouth tugs up in a smile. ) Or you can show my how those wings fold and unfold and we'll see if we can figure out which wires're at the most risk. If she's lasted this long I'm sure she can't be at too big a risk.

[wingmans]

Maybe T'Challa will lend us a hand.

[ Though Sam isn't leaping at the chance to talk to him. The King of Wakanda is fairly intimidating. Still, he cracks a smile, pleased. ]

Let me slip them on so you can get a better look.

[tictacs]

Aww, hell yeah! ( scott doesn't even bother hiding how excited he is; university might've been something his parents decided for him, but time usually gets anyone to love anything. )

Will you let me open it up? Yes? No?

[wingmans]

Go ahead.

[ He hangs back, leaning against the wall. ] You make it sound like it's Christmas.

[tictacs]

I'm not gonna lie, I don't usually flaunt the whole electrical engineering graduate thing around, but there're just some things that stick, and since the last time I jumped into her--

Well. ( a smile. ) It stuck.
