trust ONLY you Intimacy is wonderful, no doubt...but you just can't. For you, you can't let someone in like that, can't let your guard down, or just don't want to. There's also the possibility that you actually cannot be close and candid like that, unless you want to risk their safety and yours. It could, however, be a much more normal case: you were burned in the past by someone, and you don't want that to happen again, or no matter how much of an open book you are in all other aspects of your life, sexuality makes you clam up and retreat. You just can't be with someone - at least not just anyone. Until the right person comes along, then everything changes. Their strength, their kindness, or their trust in you makes you trust them; finally, there's someone you can be honest with and be comfortable enough with to explore a side of you that's had to be locked up. Whenever you have an urge, you can turn to a partner who can give you relief. Whether your tastes be a kink you've always secretly had or just a vanilla, consensual connection, don't be hesitant to let go. Well, you haven't started squeaking yet, so I'll give it a pass.

[ Sam grins. Scott's enthusiasm was infectious. ] Just don't wear yourself out. And then we'll work you up to saying Steve's name.

I like how you think I need training for this kinda stuff.

Because... it's true. You can't see it, but I'm crying a little inside. ( he laughs, ducking his head to get back to work on the pack that might've started it all--and maybe to hide the small smile tugging at his lips, too. ) I mean... having you for a friend just made this whole fugitive thing a lot easier to deal with.

And I know, I know--that's sappy. Gross. Who says shit like that?

[ Sam softens a little. In a way, he didn't have a lot of friends either. Sure, he was easy going. Personable. He certainly never made anyone feel like an outsider, but there were times he preferred it that way.

But times were changing. He had changed without realizing it. ]

( screwdriver between his teeth, scott bends and squints to make sure he'd put the wires in correctly. ) No worries, though--I mean, I'm ant-sized, so y'won't need much room to begin with.

I mean, it kind of makes sense? Usually I'm doing recon work, and when I do recon work I talk to ants to help me out.

I'm also the size of an ant, so that probably comes into it.

For the record, I wanted Pocket Paladin.

[ Sam can't resist the teasing grin that spreads over his face. Scott might never live this down. ]
