Trust Only You
![]() Intimacy is wonderful, no doubt...but you just can't. For you, you can't let someone in like that, can't let your guard down, or just don't want to. There's also the possibility that you actually cannot be close and candid like that, unless you want to risk their safety and yours. It could, however, be a much more normal case: you were burned in the past by someone, and you don't want that to happen again, or no matter how much of an open book you are in all other aspects of your life, sexuality makes you clam up and retreat. You just can't be with someone - at least not just anyone. Until the right person comes along, then everything changes. Their strength, their kindness, or their trust in you makes you trust them; finally, there's someone you can be honest with and be comfortable enough with to explore a side of you that's had to be locked up. Whenever you have an urge, you can turn to a partner who can give you relief. Whether your tastes be a kink you've always secretly had or just a vanilla, consensual connection, don't be hesitant to let go.

Because... it's true. You can't see it, but I'm crying a little inside. ( he laughs, ducking his head to get back to work on the pack that might've started it all--and maybe to hide the small smile tugging at his lips, too. ) I mean... having you for a friend just made this whole fugitive thing a lot easier to deal with.
And I know, I know--that's sappy. Gross. Who says shit like that?
But it doesn't make it any less true.
no subject
But times were changing. He had changed without realizing it. ]
Well, if we're being sappy and true - I'm in the same boat.

Got some room in your life left? I'm asking 'cause I latch pretty damn good when it comes to making pals, and even when we're back home you're probably gonna have to deal with me every once in a while. ( screwdriver between his teeth, scott bends and squints to make sure he'd put the wires in correctly. ) No worries, though--I mean, I'm ant-sized, so y'won't need much room to begin with.
no subject
Enough for one decently sized guy.

And it's Ant-Man, which... doesn't even sound better than Ant-Guy, but still.
no subject
[ He chuckles. ] Who came up with that anyway? Was it you?
no subject
I mean, it kind of makes sense? Usually I'm doing recon work, and when I do recon work I talk to ants to help me out.
I'm also the size of an ant, so that probably comes into it.
For the record, I wanted Pocket Paladin.

Pocket Paladin?

It sounds noble! Come on!

Seriously, don't tell anyone. They'll laugh their asses off.

You did way better than me at the landing strip, that's for sure. I'm just the rookie.
no subject
We're all rookies. It's a brand new world and things just get bigger. Seriously, it's like every other person has a superpower.
Us normal-ish guys need to stick together.

A lot has happened, though, yeah. And most of it while I was in prison, too. ( scott finally finishes, but he offers his work sam's way just so he can check on it. ) Different worlds? Different universes?
I don't know how to process any of it.
no subject
[ Except for what is shown on television and what Steve has told him. Aliens? Gods? Magic? Okay, sure, just point Sam to the guy he needs to punch.
He looks over the wiring, his fingers brushing over the wires carefully. This was his asset. It's not what made him useful, but what made the most of him. It doesn't bother Sam, being a man among titans. Because all titans are men too. ]
I just sort of assume everything is beatable.
no subject
( scott smiles a bit at that, his hands resting on the edge of the table as sam peruses his work. )
I'm not a fighter to begin with--just a thief. Seeing the stuff that happens on the news tells me they aren't really places for thieves to mess around in.

[ He closes the panel quietly. ] That was a choice and now you chose differently. It's not who you are.
no subject
I don't know... if you guys asked me to stay, there'd be a huge part of me that'd say yes. If there's any way I can help, I want to help. That kind of thing.
But I don't want to just be Ant-Man and not Scott Lang any more.
no subject
[ But something Scott says catches his attention. ]
Uh. Scott. You do realize we roped you and you're here to stay, right?
