Sometimes, these things happen. Sometimes, you're in just the wrong place at just the right time, or you've made the wrong (or right, depending on your intentions) person mad. Sometimes it's better for everyone if you just go. Sometimes there isn't time for good-bye.

LOST
You've managed to lose yourself somewhere out there, for whatever reason it was. Maybe you took someone with you (willingly? not?), or you found someone else who needed to disappear as badly as you did. You're in your car, or a cheap hotel, or a house by the side of the road. What else can you do but watch, and wait?

FOUND
It could have been as simple as being glimpsed at the 7-11. Your phoneline wasn't as secure as you thought. You locked eyes with the wrong person across the room. Now the house of cards is collapsing, and maybe not just your life, but the lives of everyone you love could be in jeopardy now. The walls are closing in, and your arms are giving out.

See, the thing is, significant others aren't supposed to know about the MI-6 thing until after you're married, because (as Q had surmised and M had confirmed) by then it's too late, they're stuck with you. Q has been miraculously good about keeping it from Rachel for as long as he has, considering she's a reporter and he's got an overconfident streak as wide as the Thames.

All good things have to come to an end. Q just wishes it weren't necessarily in a diner just outside of Scranton, of all places. He'd recognized the second-in-command of an international smuggling ring as they'd been ordering, but he didn't think he'd be recognized in return. The Quartermaster is behind walls of security and layers of anonymity. Only a few people in MI-6 even know he has a name beyond Q. But somehow, some way, he'd been compromised.

They'd made it out of the diner, barely. Guns had been drawn (including his own) and their car had been shot at. Q keeps glancing in the rearview mirror, watching the road behind them, one hand on the wheel and one on his gun.

"Check to see if there are hotels within walking distance of each other," he says, glancing over at her. "We'll need to get rid of the car."

yet still, it's been weeks, and she hasn't made contact. he goes home and waits. and waits. he will wait for weeks. for...ever, if he must. raven is everything to him, if he must admit it. more than erik, even. and after everything that happened, he just wants the opportunity to talk. with his powers refound, he waits, always leaving the doors unlocked and the refrigerator stocked with her favorite foods. ]

(I've always had a view that post-TWS she went to ground for a bit to get her head together. Or that somewhere between leaving the KGB and becoming one of SHIELD's best she might have disappeared to work out if it was really what she wanted. Natasha is good at disappearing but happy to have her found. Also happy to play out any AUs where someone runs with her.)

(So I read your thing, and it occurred to me that SHIELD exploding would make Bruce nervous as hell, and probably make him use the resources of Stark to poof off grid, but that, not ever having had such a group before, he would be reluctant to lose it.

Maybe somehow there is a way they can all find each other, off the normal grid?

And either these two end up randomly meeting, or she comes looking for a medical doctor who can both be trusted and defend himself if people come looking for her at the same time? Y/n?)

[ This sort of thing is becoming familiar at this point. It seems they can't walk five feet without darkspawn, bandits, giant spiders, or Maker knows what else descending on them. And it's not like Neria doesn't know that the taint plus being a mage attracts these darkspawn, but is a little breathing room so much to ask for?

She holds her stave aloft, casting Winter's Grasp on the nearest darkspawn, then risks a glance over at Morrigan to make sure she isn't in need of healing. ]

Izumo hadn't actually been looking for Clint, per se, but he had been keeping an eye out. He'd heard about the implosion of SHIELD - impressive, if only for the sloppy hiring - but had been very busy at the time. A minor war between factions and a small upriding and re-election of political leaders, both ninja and not, had kept him understandably busy. Izumo was on his way back to the States, through Europe, when he ran into his favorite superhero archer on the street.

Literally, as he was cussing out a taxi driver and not paying attention to where he was waking.

"My fuckin' grandma drives faster 'n that an' she's been dead fifteen years! Overcharge someone else, you cross-eyed bitch-bred sister-fucked son of a syphilitic monkey! You shou-oof!"

the airport bustles, and somehow that only makes him more nervous. everything he'd just left behind clung to him, static electricity that makes his hair stand up. and his team have skills like he's never seen before.

but he has nim, and he knows she'll help him keep them safe by keeping him away from them. or at least he can hope. hardison jams the bluetooth into his ear. ]
