they are the hunters, we are the foxes - and we run

Sometimes, these things happen. Sometimes, you're in just the wrong place at just the right time, or you've made the wrong (or right, depending on your intentions) person mad. Sometimes it's better for everyone if you just go. Sometimes there isn't time for good-bye.
You've managed to lose yourself somewhere out there, for whatever reason it was. Maybe you took someone with you (willingly? not?), or you found someone else who needed to disappear as badly as you did. You're in your car, or a cheap hotel, or a house by the side of the road. What else can you do but watch, and wait?
It could have been as simple as being glimpsed at the 7-11. Your phoneline wasn't as secure as you thought. You locked eyes with the wrong person across the room. Now the house of cards is collapsing, and maybe not just your life, but the lives of everyone you love could be in jeopardy now. The walls are closing in, and your arms are giving out.
- post with your character's name and canon. if you have an on-the-run AU, or scenarios you might want to play out, mention them here.
- find others. tag them.
- and then, run.
Morrigan | Dragon Age
sometime during origins okay with you?
She holds her stave aloft, casting Winter's Grasp on the nearest darkspawn, then risks a glance over at Morrigan to make sure she isn't in need of healing. ]
Nothing like darkspawn ruining a nice stroll.
absolutely!
Did you insult their mother? [ It would be a lie to say there is no thrill in combat, no overwhelming feeling of being alive in so flirting with death and destruction. Even so, this is starting to seem ridiculous. ] They are endless.
no subject
I have no idea. How do you insult a darkspawn anyway? Tell it that it smells of flowers?
[ She casts Stonefist, knocking a weakened genlock back. It doesn't get up and her eyes scan for the next enemy. ]
no subject
I volunteer Alistair to try that.
no subject
[ But she happens to like Alistair. Very much, in fact, which makes it twice as frustrating when the three of them are traveling together. It's like dealing with a couple of children the way they bicker, but it's not like telling them to stop will accomplish anything. It would probably make it worse. ]
Come on!
[ It's yelled in challenge to an archer, safe on the top of a ridge. Well, it thinks it's safe. Her mana is depleted, so she fires off a few basic attacks from her stave, interrupting his firing of an arrow. ]
This is only going to get worse as the Blight goes on.
[ Obvious, maybe, but it drives home the fact that they don't have much time to gather an army. ]
no subject
[ A snort at her back makes her spin around in surprise. ]
Behind us!
[ Darkspawn have no business being stealthy. She quickly pulls herself together and focuses, energy swelling up over her to blast the assassin back just before his blades meet flesh. ]
no subject
[ And truly surprising at this point in their journey. ]
Do you need healing?
[ As far as she can see, Morrigan looks like no one got a hit on her, but she may as well offer as her own mana regenerates. ]
no subject
[ For now she remains unhurt. Still, her heart is in her throat. As she swallows it back down, she holds her position and eyes the half-crumpled darkspawn assassin warily. Several basic but brutally well-aimed bursts from her staff ensure that it will not rise to finish its job. ]
Nothing is so wounded as my pride.
no subject
I think that's the last of them.
[ Though she does hold her breath, waiting, listening for one to appear. When there's nothing but the rustling of a breeze through the leaves, she turns around to start searching the bodies for anything useful. ]
Though I doubt we'll get back to camp without encountering at least a dozen more.
no subject
Wariness can only serve us well.
[ As Neria begins looting, Morrigan advances on the fallen body of the assassin and very carefully searches it. Their experience thus far tells her that many darkspawn are not rigidly discriminating when it comes to arming themselves, but the weapons do tend to fetch coin. ]
'Tis a shame the Warden who recruited you is not around to share his knowledge.
no subject
It is. He was very wise and practical. But compassionate too. I can only hope to follow in his footsteps.
[ Alistair doesn't really want to be the leader here, so she'll take the reins, but that doesn't mean she's anymore comfortable with the task than he would be. She just tries to hide it better. ]
no subject
Neria is not as objectionable as Alistair, thankfully, but she still feels a very healthy resentment for having been pushed upon these Wardens at all. ]
Wisdom and practicality are certainly in short supply.
[ Walking toward Neria, she raises an eyebrow. ]
May I ask what he did manage to pass on? Or is that shrouded in secrecy?
no subject
[ There's surprise to her tone. From the mysterious way both she and Flemeth act, one would think they know far more than Neria does. ]
no subject
There is only so much I truly wish to know about being a Warden. I would not allow myself to be conscripted any more than I would allow myself to be bound by templars and taken to one of their cages. [ She pauses, hands falling to her sides. ] But I wonder how much we fumble in darkness here, armed with little more than treaties.
no subject
[ She stands, moving to the next darkspawn. Nothing on him. Or it. Whatever they are. ]
But we have to try. The threat of the Blight must be met with action.
no subject
[ Regardless of her personal feelings, the Blight spells death and doom for a great many people. She would not have chosen to join the fight like this, but she would prefer to see this all ended sooner rather than later. For a moment she merely watches Neria move to the next corpse. ]
Does it invade your dreams? The Archdemon?
no subject
Yes. It's like he can see me, as I see him. It's unnerving.
[ Or terrifying. But she won't admit to that. She has to act like she's in perfect control here and not like she's floundering around with no idea what she's doing. Thankfully she's been able to fake it so far. ]
no subject
I believe you have a gift for understatement.
no subject
[ It's coupled with a wry smile before she rises from her search, placing her stave on her back. ]
Are you ready to head back? The others will probably come out looking for us soon.
no subject
[ Not disarming just yet, she smirks her amusement and turns herself back in the general direction of their camp. ]
Let us hope that if they do there is no running and screaming involved.
no subject
[ She moves forward until she's standing beside Morrigan. ]
Though I imagine Leliana would be trying to herd them while telling everyone to calm down.
no subject
I am convinced this will happen one day. Such is the danger when the most sensible members of the group leave.
no subject
[ But okay, enough idle talk. It's time to start back, and they should both stay alert in case of trouble. ]
[ ooc: feel like we're at a good place to end it? ]
