He almost felt like this was 'playing house'. Not that his commitment to Charlie wasn't there, especially now. But how long would this last? He tired not to let it weigh overly much, focusing instead on balancing the bags of groceries as he nudged the door open with a gentle kinetic push.

"Charlie? Where are you?" He knew she was home - but he didn't know if she was awake - so he didn't call too loudly.
