| THE LIST! 01] baby Suddenly, there's a new addition to your family! Are you expecting? Adopting? Struggling to find the perfect name for your child? Or maybe you're up at a ridiculous hour in the morning because they're crying like crazy. 02] just married Congratulations! You and your loved (?) one are about to start a whole new life together! It's time for the honeymoon... 03] house hunting Are you seeking out an apartment? A dream house? Or just any old place, as long as you're with your other? Make sure to weigh your options very carefully... 04] household chores It's time to clean/cook/garden/take care of something! Mostly because pain. It feels like half his body is broken and another half is burnt and it's overlapping so like the remaining fifth that is neither broken more scalded has been scraped raw. He's plugged into a machine that's monitoring his vital signs, and another that he assumes is providing morphine but doesn't seem to really be working.
He turns his head, ignoring the screaming protestation in his neck, and sees Filly dozing in the chair by his bed, Max in her lap. It's the best thing he's seen, and a sight he didn't think he'd ever see again. He tries to speak, managing a rasped "Bray".

She shifts a little, eyes needing a few moments to focus and it's obvious that she isn't aware at first that it was actually the sound of Chuck's voice that woke her up.
It's been almost impossible to pry her away from his side since he ended up in this hospital bed, and the only thing that has kept her eating and sleeping at lest somewhat properly is the fact that every now and again people remind her that she needs to think about the baby too.
Now she gives Chuck a sleepy little smile, and then it hits her like a ton of bricks that he is looking at her. He's awake.
Her eyes widen, and without letting go of the dog in her arms she leans forward a little to put a hand on the edge of Chuck's bed without really touching him, since she doesn't know where she can do so without hurting him.
"Chuck?"

"Yeah," he croaks, grinning crookedly. "Kaiju tried its hardest. Guess my head was too hard." He wants to ask after Stacker, after Mako and Becket, after the breach, but there's another question that he has to ask before any of that.
He pulls her closer, presses his lips against her knuckles. "Filly, when they let me outta here, lets get married, yeah?"
We could blame the morphine but the drip might not be working.

In this exact moment, however, none of these opinions really matter to Filly. Chuck isn't exactly in a position where giving him a political lecture would be in any way helpful, and getting engaged just seems like such a lovely, ordinary thing to do. Something people with peaceful lives not overshadowed by the bloody end of the world do. Something normal.
She smiles back at him, tears stinging her eyes because only now when he is with her again can she admit to herself that she hadn't thought he would ever wake up.
"I'm about to put on a shitload of weight, and you think this is a good time to ask me to put on a fancy dress?"
Since the drip might be working after all, Filly isn't entirely sure that Chuck is actually going to remember this proposal next time he's awake, but she's going to give him an answer anyway, because she wants to.
She lets Max down and gets to her feet so that she can lean over Chuck's bed and give him a careful kiss on the lips.
"Sure. Let's get married."

"You can wear whatever you want," he says seriously. "But if you're that worried we can do it now. Or in a year. Whenever." He leans up to kiss her again, smiling wide enough to split his face in two.
"No take backs when I'm out of here?" Chuck mumbles against her lips. If he forgets he asked her, he'll just have to propose again so she can say yes all over again, oh nooo. There's really an impressive amount of pain that he's in right now, so he's holding onto the nearest good thing about his life for as long as he can. "Let Max up, let's tell him the good news."
He doesn't care what the nurses told you, Filly, he is hugging his Dog. Even if that dog is going to step on things,

"Charles Hansen are you out of your bloody mind? That dog is heavy as shit."
She doesn't even know how her crazy ass ranger can manage all these smiles and kisses considering what a mess he's in.

"Or you could get up here." Now he's just being a cheeky fucker, there's no way for her to get on the bed and for them both to be comfortable.
"I love you," he mumbles against her mouth. He's shaking a little, partly from pain, partly from shock, partly from sheer relief. "...did it work?" He'd marry her in a monster-strewn world if he must, but he'd prefer it not be so...monstery.

"Yeah, it worked."
She pulls back a little so she can smile down at him, fingers gently combing through his hair.
"You did it, baby. And I love you too, so much."
She temporarily sits back down in the chair so that she can haul Max up in her lap again.
"Look boy, daddy's awake again."

...but maybe he keeps looking at Max when he does, because he's afraid of the answer.

She saves Mako and Raleigh for last, wanting to at least end with telling him that some people other than him made it out alive.
