And, she wants to get to know him better.
"I guess, but you guys are heroes," she points out, taking a seat at the table.
It's the first night she's been able to stay after dropping off her treats, and she wants to make the most of it.
"Especially since you saved those puppies from the pet store," she adds.
She reaches over and starts unpacking the basket. It's sandwiches, and potato salad, all things she's gotten from the deli. There is also cupcakes from the bakery. Sadly, Audrey has no time to actually cook everything she's been bringing in.
"I asked at the deli what your favorite sandwich is," she explains while sliding it over to him. "That doesn't make me a stalker, right?"

Even when he's not on a job, he's happy to see her whenever she comes around. Especially when she brought food along.
"I don't think that I'll ever get used to hearing that. I just want to help people, so if that makes me a hero, I guess I'm gonna have to accept the compliment, right?" He chuckles, shrugging slightly. "They were awfully adorable."
The gesture is incredibly sweet, even if the treats weren't homecooked - not that Miles needed anything homecooked to prove that Audrey's intentions weren't fully real and true. He happily accepts the sandwich and offers an even wider smile in response. "Nah. You're only a stalker if you hang out around the bushes near my apartment. You don't do that, right?"
no subject
She unwraps her sandwich, and then uses the plastic spoon to spoon some potato salad on the paper plate the deli gave her. Looking up, she laughs and shakes her head. "No, I don't even know where you live, Miles," she tells him, her eyes ful of amusement.
Audrey knows she could use one of the computer terminals at the department to look up his address, but she's not that type of woman. If Miles wants her to know where he lives, he'll tell her.
After taking a bite of her sandwich, she washes it down with a sip of soda. "So, are you busy this weekend? I thought maybe we could go to the Autumn festival together," she says, a hopeful look.

He follows along, suddenly starving, although he waits for her to take her first bite before he allows himself the pleasure of taking his. Miles remembers his manners, after all. "Well, then, I have nothing to worry about on the stalking front, do I?"
The way his smile widens should be a hint as to how amused he is by the whole conversation. He wouldn't be averse to sharing his address - after all, he's not always here. What if she brought snacks at another time and he missed out? That just wouldn't do.
"As far as I know, barring any other fires or other emergencies, I am completely free. And I'd really like to go with you, Audrey."

Audrey knew it had been a very long time since she'd been on a date. She wan't even sure if she'd asked right, but when he answered, saying he wanted to go with her, a bright grin spread over her lips. She couldn't believe he'd said yes!
"Good. I have to work until six that night so we can meet up around eight?" she suggested.
Not that it took her that long to get ready, but sometimes she needed some time to relax before running out again.
no subject
It's been a while for Miles, too, but he likes Audrey, and he's not nervous in the slightest. If they can have fun while eating, he's certain that an actual date will go just as well.
"Okay - I can definitely meet you at eight. At your place? Mine? Somewhere else?"
no subject
After washing her food back with a drink of water, she pressed her lips together in thought. "How about mine?" she said as she reached over to grab a napkin.
A second later, she had a pen out and was jotting down her address on it. She then pushed it over to his side of the table and smiled. "No hiding in the bushes,": she laughed.
no subject
He takes his time chewing and swallowing, as this was, like she said, his favorite. But she makes the suggestion and he swallows, nodding in agreement. "I can do that, yeah."
He's just about to ask about her address, but she beats him to the punch, sliding that napkin over to him, and he smiles all the wider, making sure to tuck it safely into the pocket of his shirt. "I promise I won't be creepy and hang out with the hydrangeas."
no subject
Once he had her address, Audrey put her pen away and went back to her food. When he made his comment, she laughed.
"I wouldn't mind, but the next door neighbor is an old, nosy woman, and she'd call the cops on you. I mean, I am a op,, but I can't promise you won't be arrested. And if you do, I'll have to bring you picnics in jail," she said before taking a bite of her sandwich.
no subject
He chuckles, fork poised above his potato salad. "Well, I'd hate to get the cops called on me for loitering, much less forcing you to visit me in my cell, or, you know, starting gossip around town about us. I'll be good when I come to see you, I promise."
