Tohsaka just yanks his sunglasses and sets them atop her head. Resting on her crown like a stolen tiara rather than actually wearing them.]

[ He blinks a few times at the sudden brightness. That move was actually really cute. A very 'girlfriend' thing to do. He gets a silly grin on. Enjoy that view of his cute face again, Tohsaka! ]

No, you're pretty much stuck with me now. Especially wearing my shades like that.

[Well, that was certain a gigantic mistake. His much easier to deal with and push around with the shades on. Because they she doesn't have to see his expression. How soft he can be, and how human he is. A part of her wants to frantically slap them back on his face, but... that would be too obvious.]

It's cute. Kinda like when a girl will wear her boyfriend's jacket when she's cold, even though it's way too big for her.

[ He might slowly be realizing how whenever she blushes around him, it's always without the glasses on. ]

[Ugh!!! A part of her wants to grab the shades and toss them on the ground, but. She's not a toddler. Sure, she may act out, but — Tohsaka huffs, and folds her arms across her chest defensively.]

[ In one surprisingly smooth motion, the sunglasses are plucked from Tohsaka's head and replaced with his baseball cap. ]

You can wear that instead!

I — I don't want this!

[She already hates the indignant yelp she made when he slapped it on her. An embarrassment!]

It messed up my hair!

[She pulls it off and immediately tries to smooth down all the hair standing up from static.]

[ He'll purposefully (?) fold his glasses up and hook them on the neck of his hoodie. Can't go covering up those eyes again. ]

It would have been fine if you left it on. You looked cute in it!

My hairstyle isn't the best for it either.

[And even if she looks more "mature" with her hair down she's reluctant to favor that style. After all the ribbons she wears always remind her of her sister. The last gift she gave to Sakura was a ribbon before her father gave the girl away to the Matou family.

Tohsaka frowns, but it's not as angry or frustrated as one would expect from her protests.]

Why do you wear this stuff? Don't like seeing yourself?

[ He takes the cap back, replacing it on his own head. She had told him her ribbons were important to her when they first met. Maybe he shouldn't have covered them up like that. ]

I think I look pretty cool in it.

[ It's not uncommon attire for the type of people he hangs out with. But there's more than that. ]

But, I guess it's also a comfort thing.

You find comfort in... being practically anonymous?

[Tohsaka will now take the time to let her hair out of the ribbons just so she can finger comb her thick waves before putting it back up.]

Not anonymous. More like a way to avoid scrutiny...

[ He shakes his head, unhooking his glasses from his shirt so he can slip them back on. There's obviously a deeper meaning behind that, but he doubts she cares. Much less that he wants to think or talk about it. He deflects to a more literal reasoning. ]

It's warm, too. I don't like being cold.

I don't see why you would hide yourself. You aren't exactly ugly.

[In her opinion a guy with too many layers and sunglasses on attracts more attention than not.]

[ Though he does sound a little bitter. ]

Yes, you're "nothing special" when you cover yourself up like that. However — take this from someone who knows what their own appeal — you are cute. Something you under-utilize because... hm. Inferiority complex? You complain about being outshined a lot.

I don't have an inferiority complex, either! I'm fine with how I am! Everyone just has to go and do better than me at everything! No one else thinks I'm good enough since I'm not absolutely "perfect!" And I was made to feel like shit about it my whole life!

[ By 'no one', he means his family, people back in grade school, girls. The guys in his gang might tease him over his imperfections, but it doesn't effect their bond.

Also, his pettiness made him completely overlook the part where she admitted she thinks he's cute. ]

[Oh he sure did overlook her compliment.]

Perhaps caring that much about other people's opinions is bad for you.

[Him, specifically, as he throws this mini-tantrum.]

[ He leans heavily against the closest wall, arms crossed over his chest. He's quiet for a bit, stewing over his anger and her advice before finally speaking up again. He didn't expect her to be sympathetic, but her dry commentary doesn't help any. ]

Yeah, no shit.

[ At this point, he's so unused to receiving approval that he's not sure how to take it when it does happen. ]

If you're so angry with all of them why do you stick around?

[Is it that he feels he's even less without them? Is it that he clings to them with a glimmer of hope that doing so will mean a bit of their greatness will rub off on him? Or is it something else entirely?]

I didn't. I left home at 16 so I wouldn't have to hear it anymore. At least with HOMRA, even if I'm not perfect, I know they got my back no matter what.

And yet you get bitter if I might even look at a reflection of your friend.

Shouhei's a completely different thing, alright?

[ Sigh. ]

Look, I'm not oblivious. I know I'm petty and that I overreact a lot. I know you two wouldn't wanna run away together the moment you saw each other. He wouldn't do that to me, and you're not even interested in that type of thing. But I get the idea in my head and it bothers me.

[ Maybe he's afraid of just being alone. Literally or emotionally. That never fully occurred to him until now. ]

And if it were the other way around? If I stole you away? Would you leap at the chance or insist on staying with them?

[Tohsaka thinks she knows the answer. There is absolutely no guaranteed benefit of running away with someone who acts like you're a complete bother. Not only that, but when he's not being a petty brat he really seems to care about his fellowship.]
