The Walk Into A Bar Meme!

The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.
2. Hit RNG for a number between 1-15.
3. Tag someone else using that number as your character's reason for coming to the bar.
4. Profit!

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, they don't seem to be anywhere to be found...

5. Poolside Pleasure - There's nothing like being on vacation in a tropical paradise, is there? And what better way to soak in that tropical vibe than to swim up to the Tiki Bar for a relaxing fruity drink with a paper umbrella?

9. Shaken, not Stirred - To everyone else, this is a regular bar, but not to you. You know you're here to meet a clandestine contact, an enemy informer or a secret spy. Better play it cool and keep your eyes open...

10. Sunken Pirate Ship - You've been out on the high seas for months, and finally made it into port with your pockets full of gold. What're you going to do first? Drink that gold away or buy some company for the evening? You can do both at the bar...

He smiled despite himself, eyes rolling up and considering that. "I might be bribed by a hat, yes."

"Good to know," Eames hummed, glancing around and running his hand over the front of his shirt.

He kept walking though paused a half a step to look at Eames. "What kind of hat are we talking," he asked, unable to help himself. He shouldn't be encouraging him and yet he was.

"I can't see you in a bowler. A Trilby, maybe?" He asks, still looking around as if to find a hat.

"Perhaps. I suppose that would work. Though I think you're cheating that a trilby would be a lot easier to find."

"Do you have a better suggestion?" Eames queried, turning slate grey eyes onto Arthur.

He glanced at him, considering. "What if I said a Victorian topper?"

"I don't think anyone's going to be wearing one of those. Is that your way of asking for a gift instead?" Eames grins.

Arthur laughed, shaking his head as he did it but he laughed. "A hat I might wear once. If that? No. But would be curious to see if you could find one on the streets."

"I'll have to give it up right now, since I'm fairly assured that no one will be out in one," he says with a shake of his head. "But where is this bar of yours?"

"Just this way," he said, veering suddenly. The neighborhood changed a bit. That edge of upscale where the young up and comers made their home. A velvet rope kept many against the wall. Arthur avoided them, walking for the bouncer.

"Mister Todour," he said with a nod, moving the cord for them. "Good evening."

Looking smug, he glanced at Eames and stepped inside.

Eames kept the mildly impressed look off his face, managing a distinctly bored look as he followed Arthur inside.

"Todour," he murmured as he caught up to Arthur, "Should I call you Mister too, then?"

Slipping past those loitering so they could best see and be seen, he glanced to Eames with an amused look. "For you it can be just Todour, or Arthur. It's a name I use in a city or two. Mostly for those few hours I take off.'

"And here I thought you'd take advantage of the chance to have me calling you formal names," Eames says, glancing around. "And I'm still waiting to be surprised, Arthur."

"Oh no. I'd rather wait for you to do it out of respect and desire, Mister Eames," he said, heading for the bar. "I suspect even if I did surprise you, you wouldn't admit it."

"Oh, I'll admit it," Eames said, still looking around. "But first you have to do it."

As for desire, well; Eames had wanted to call him plenty of things out of desire.

"What are you drinking," he asked, raising a hand for the bartender. He nodded, pouring a double of scotch from a bottle on the back of the bar.

"What for your friend, Mister Todour?"

He glanced at Eames. "Another of the same and have them brought back to the lounge," he said, nodding to the back of the room. Another glance at Eames and then heading for the velvet roped VIP lounge at the back of the room. "I do love this town when I can be here."

"They know you and your drink by name," Eames said as he followed Arthur after the display at the bar, "And you've got the VIP room. Darling, it's like you're trying to impress me."

Taking both glasses, he glanced back at Eames with a definitely smug smile. "And if I was? I admit, not even Cobb knows about this place. At least not in relation to me."

"I'd tell you you don't need to bother trying to impress me," Eames said honestly. He tried to say it with a flat tone, but it was the honest truth.

Arthur slipped past the rope, moving to take a seat on an overstuffed loveseat. He set the other on the table. For a long time he stared up at Eames and then took a drink. Then a second, deeper one.

"Then have your drink and forget the attempt," he said, looking out over the room but his gaze higher than the people.

Eames didn't respond to the statement, indeed taking a drink of the scotch - a long drink - and then setting it down, licking his lips.

His gaze was drawn to the people dancing, since he couldn't bring himself to look at Arthur again yet.

He wasn't sure where he'd been going with this, or why he'd tried. Why had it mattered?

A couple of people walked by, nodding at him, and Arthur ignored them all. Instead he took another drink, shifting to sit primly on the edge of the loveseat.

"If there's a type of place you'd rather be, I'm sure I can find it."

"I'm not particularly picky. Just wanted to get out of where we were before," Eames admitted, gaze falling to the DJ towards the back of the club.

"Then you're all set," he said with a nod, crossing one leg over the other. He took another drink, realizing he should have the bottle brought to him.
