The Walk Into A Bar Meme!

The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.
2. Hit RNG for a number between 1-15.
3. Tag someone else using that number as your character's reason for coming to the bar.
4. Profit!

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, they don't seem to be anywhere to be found...

5. Poolside Pleasure - There's nothing like being on vacation in a tropical paradise, is there? And what better way to soak in that tropical vibe than to swim up to the Tiki Bar for a relaxing fruity drink with a paper umbrella?

9. Shaken, not Stirred - To everyone else, this is a regular bar, but not to you. You know you're here to meet a clandestine contact, an enemy informer or a secret spy. Better play it cool and keep your eyes open...

10. Sunken Pirate Ship - You've been out on the high seas for months, and finally made it into port with your pockets full of gold. What're you going to do first? Drink that gold away or buy some company for the evening? You can do both at the bar...

11. Punch in the Rain - You're the bouncer of this bar and you think the guy sitting next to you has probably had too much to drink. Maybe it's time to cut them off. Hopefully they'll go easy, huh?

He turned to face Eames, arching a brow. "What happened between that boy and this man? What changed? Was it the dreamsharing or something else?"

Eames purses his lips. "Combat. I did plenty of missions before I did dreamshare. Not to sound old but something changes the first time you watch someone die and the first time you kill someone."

Arthur's spine jerked a bit at that, nodding as he leaned forward a bit. "Everything changes in that moment," he agreed. "Rarely for the better but you learn how to move on and live, how to continue on despite it all."

"It is quite a defining one," Eames finally said, rubbing two fingers along his forehead. He had seen how Arthur had reacted to his stating it. "For me it became the status quo for a while. Dreamshare was what finally broke it up and got me to think." That and his mother's death.

That was an interesting say on it because while dream share meant he killed less, it still put him in the position of having to consider it. Not to mention the death of projections that while not human, represented a side of us that was protecting all we were.

"Scary bit of thought that you I aren't all that different in some things."

Killing projections was never simple. Purely now it was done to survive. Kill or be killed, a bit like a savanna. That was the only way Eames handled it without going bonkers.

"More alike then you thought, hmm?" The question didn't have the right tone of teasing to it that it should have.

Arthur caught that tone and tried not to tense. It shouldn't have bothered him that he wasn't teasing and Arthur knew most wouldn't see what he had been through to be the war zone that it was.

"Just an observation," he said in a low voice.

"Thought that was my job," Eames murmured as he raised his fingers to rub at his nose, leaning back in his chair finally. He glanced back over to the dancers on the floor, considering the new information he had about Arthur - and the information Arthur now had about Eames.

"I feel I should be worried about you tracking down my past," he admitted. "I admit this. I haven't changed my name."

"I'm not going to," Eames admitted in kind. "I wouldn't ask about that kind of thing just to try to find out more. You're not a mark."

He considered that. "I tend to gather information on most people. Just to know," he admitted. "It was what I was best at for the man I worked for back then."

Eames smirked. "Admit it, you did it with me too when you met me, didn't you?"

He didn't answer right away, looking Eames over slowly. "If I had looked up information on you, for work or other reasons, I might have ran into quite a few roadblocks in doing so."

Which was, truthfully, a resounding yes but he hadn't gotten far.

Eames' smirk widened, hearing the unsaid answer and also at the fact that Arthur had hit a few roadblocks.

"Those roadblocks were put there for a reason," he teased lightly. "I imagine you are much the same. But I don't have an interest in a dossier printout. I like to learn people myself if I can."

"Obviously to aggravate me and cause an outpouring of more money than I wanted to," he said with a light chuckle. "Sometimes though it is a place to start, especially with those that hide their true selves. Like I think we both do. At least in a way."

"You spent money on me? And didn't tell me? Darling," Eames clucked his tongue teasingly. "Yes, but paper doesn't tell you anything about a person aside from random facts. I'd rather learn it."

Arthur rolled his eyes, fixing Eames with one of his typical looks. "And watch your ego swell more," he asked with a snort. "I think not."

That last comment brought silence, considering. "Sometimes that has to be enough for you to get through to the next level." Or, in Arthur's case more often than not, never try and move on.

"But my ego would have enjoyed it," Eames said with a shake of his head, grinning.

"Vetting against information is necessary but - frankly sad," Eames offered gently. "I'm not saying it's not a good idea, you never know when one is off his nutter but still."

"Is your ego enjoying it less for having learned now rather than then," he challenged, definitely amused by the turn of the conversation.

"Are you saying you're a bit mad," he asked, arching a brow but shifting to lean forward, one elbow balanced against his knee.

"A bit," Eames said, and then looked straight at Arthur and smiled. "Oh, we're all mad here, aren't we?"

"Poor thing," he said, sounding like he meant anything but.

"You're missing a hat."

"Could find one," Eames says, glancing at the dance floor. "Might be a stupid beanie."

"I think it well fits a mad forger," he said with a smirk.

"Not a beanie," Eames scoffs. "I'd take a fishing hat over that. It seems we'll have to visit a hatter at some point," he smirked.

Arthr glanced at him, trying not to smile. "Do try and not take the mad forger reference to heart. Especially if you wish to turn it about on me."
