The Walk Into A Bar Meme!

The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.
2. Hit RNG for a number between 1-15.
3. Tag someone else using that number as your character's reason for coming to the bar.

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, they don't seem to be anywhere to be found...

5. Poolside Pleasure - There's nothing like being on vacation in a tropical paradise, is there? And what better way to soak in that tropical vibe than to swim up to the Tiki Bar for a relaxing fruity drink with a paper umbrella?

"What are you drinking," he asked, raising a hand for the bartender. He nodded, pouring a double of scotch from a bottle on the back of the bar.

"What for your friend, Mister Todour?"

He glanced at Eames. "Another of the same and have them brought back to the lounge," he said, nodding to the back of the room. Another glance at Eames and then heading for the velvet roped VIP lounge at the back of the room. "I do love this town when I can be here."

"They know you and your drink by name," Eames said as he followed Arthur after the display at the bar, "And you've got the VIP room. Darling, it's like you're trying to impress me."

Taking both glasses, he glanced back at Eames with a definitely smug smile. "And if I was? I admit, not even Cobb knows about this place. At least not in relation to me."

"I'd tell you you don't need to bother trying to impress me," Eames said honestly. He tried to say it with a flat tone, but it was the honest truth.

Arthur slipped past the rope, moving to take a seat on an overstuffed loveseat. He set the other on the table. For a long time he stared up at Eames and then took a drink. Then a second, deeper one.

"Then have your drink and forget the attempt," he said, looking out over the room but his gaze higher than the people.

Eames didn't respond to the statement, indeed taking a drink of the scotch - a long drink - and then setting it down, licking his lips.

His gaze was drawn to the people dancing, since he couldn't bring himself to look at Arthur again yet.

He wasn't sure where he'd been going with this, or why he'd tried. Why had it mattered?

A couple of people walked by, nodding at him, and Arthur ignored them all. Instead he took another drink, shifting to sit primly on the edge of the loveseat.

"If there's a type of place you'd rather be, I'm sure I can find it."

"I'm not particularly picky. Just wanted to get out of where we were before," Eames admitted, gaze falling to the DJ towards the back of the club.

"Then you're all set," he said with a nod, crossing one leg over the other. He took another drink, realizing he should have the bottle brought to him.

"With a good view," Eames said after a moment, looking over at Arthur with a little smirk.

Despite the smirk, Arthur looked at the dancers. "Oh? Which one?"

"None of them," Eames said, looking back out onto the floor. "Just a bunch of sweaty, grinding kids."

A small frown tugged at the corner of Arthur's mouth. "Got me now. What view," he asked, honestly allowing himself to show a bit of confusion.

Eames turned and looked at him, grinning with all his teeth on display now. "Just a good view I have, that's all."

"A good..." He paused, considering. "Oh." He looked away, grinning though. "I suspect I need another drink if you're going to keep that up," he said, though he leaned back a bit, arm along the back of the couch.

"You need alcohol to deal with flirting?" Eames asked, tone taking a coy turn, still grinning as he looked at Arthur. "Can't say I'm not dying to see you intoxicated at some point, but..."

He rolled his eyes, not entirely certain what to think of this. "I need alcohol to deal with a coworker who enjoys picking me apart in his own verbal way begins flirting," he corrected, shrugging as if to dismiss it. "Not entirely where I expected you to go after the thing about overdoing things with this place."

"You could have taken it like I don't need all the fuss to be impressed, but then I wouldn't want to give you that impression," Eames said slyly, taking another sipo of his scotch.

"You've known me long enough to know the man and chose to flirt if you wished," he pointed out, watching Eames as he turned his gaze once more away from the dance floor. "Besides, there is the option that I had the desire to impress you for my sake and not your own."

"It could be I have been flirting and you've just been too dense to notice it," Eames said archly, and then shrugged slightly at the second part. "In which case you would be quite shallow, which is something I didn't think you were."

Arthur actually paused, considering that seriously before allowing himself a nod. "I can not deny that might well be the case," he said softly. He shook his head.

"Not how I meant it exactly. For my sake in the idea of trying to show another side of myself and therefor catch your attention because I've been too dense to notice you flirting."

Eames let his lips curl up, looking away. "You should know that this type of thing doesn't catch my attention, then. People do, not posturing."

Arthur downed the last of his drink, pushing to his feet. "Yet you've only seen half me as a person and I suppose that's how it needs to be," he said, jerking his head towards the bar. "I'm getting another drink."

And if he was lucky, he could be drunk before he stopped cursing himself over how stupid the entire idea of opening up had been.

Eames reached out and caught Arthur by the sleeve of his lovely jacket.

"Are you really telling me this is the other half of you? Going to swank clubs and drinking scotch?"

He stopped instantly, not trying to pull away. He looked down at Eames. "Sometimes. Sometimes it is. Mostly because it was a life I could have without Cobb. Besides, it reminds me of home. I have all this because of my dad and I appreciate that, even if it isn't entirely me," he said, thinking of Vegas and the hours he'd spent as a child in places just like this while his dad worked.

"Not half, no, but deep down it reminds me of things I can't ever have back, and a lot of things I never want back."
