[It's easy to keep a deal when you're compelled to do it. Amy's not allowed to reveal the terms of their arrangement or even mention that Elijah exists to anyone else. They're on better terms now and his visits are more frequent, but he hasn't taken away any of his previous compulsion.

He sits down on the couch and glances at her.]

Has anyone been asking questions?

[She sits back, taking a drink of the wine she has.]

Nothing. I'm not particularly close with the neighbors, and you come late enough for none to ever notice you.

[negotiates]

[He'll join her in that. Elijah appreciates his wine.]

Nothing? So the vampire who moved in a few doors down is a coincidence, then.

[His raised eyebrow says everything. He doesn't think it's a coincidence.]

[waitedlongenough]

Will is a vampire? [She tilts her head in surprise.]

No way.

[negotiates]

You've spoken to him.

[waitedlongenough]

I took out the trash a few days ago. He was doin' the same. [She shrugs. How did he even know this?]

[negotiates]

[Hmm.] What did he say?

[waitedlongenough]

Just asked about the complex. Nothing important. Where to get the stickers for the garbage, that sort of stuff. [She shrugs.]

Why?

[negotiates]

Because he may try to gain access to your apartment. [He leans over, nudging her shoulder lightly.] You wouldn't want to invite in any vampire but me, would you?

[waitedlongenough]

[She raises a brow.] I didn't even want to invite you in. But now I know what to look for.

[Another sip.] So how do I protect myself from him? Or will you-- know if I'm in trouble or something?

[Vampire rules, she has no idea.]

[negotiates]

[He puts his glass of wine down, and reaches inside his jacket pocket to draw out a jewellery box: a small slim box that looks like it contains a watch or bracelet, something of that sort.]

Take this.

[He presents it to her. And this time he's entirely serious; this is no frivolous gift.]

[Always and forever. That kind of promise isn't made lightly. But Rebekah's only been able to take so much from Niklaus, and all finally standing up to him has done for her is get another dagger driven inside of her.

And now she's stashed away somewhere in the Salvatore Boarding house, waiting to be undaggered and helped.]

yes! Elijah needs to undagger his sis immediately

[negotiates]

[Niklaus wasn't the only one who made that promise, and right now he isn't the one who deserves it either. To see his sister dead at Klaus's hand yet again fills Elijah with rage.

It is with tender care, however, that he removes the dagger from Rebekah's heart and carries her up to the living room, cradling his sister in his arms until she awakes. The dagger he tucks in his jacket pocket; he will be rid of it soon enough.]

[Minutes pass by and slowly but surely her body begins to reanimate. It takes her a moment to realize where she is. The last thing she remembers is Niklaus and Stefan ganging up on her. She hadn't even had the strength to try to stop it. So instead she had just goaded her brother to do it.

And he still couldn't look her in the eye.

As she reorientates she realizes who had rescued her, who's still cradling her in his arms. He had pulled the dagger out of her after Elena had put it in her too (since Niklaus had been too much of a coward to, that time).

At least she has one brother she can count on, still.]

every episode I'm like... Elijah could fix this :(

[negotiates]

[He gives her a small smile. How many times will they have to keep doing this?]

You're welcome. [He'll help Rebekah to stand up, give her a blood bag, make sure she's okay. At least they have time to recuperate. And Elijah came prepared.] What excuse did he have this time?

right :( as soon as it happened I was like where is Elijah he needs to fix things

[They really need to destroy that jar of ashes Klaus carries around someday.

But for now she'll take a long drink from the blood bag before answering.]

He was afraid I'd blab his next big plan to people before he and Stefan could find the cure for Elena. [She pauses and then adds.]

The Five apparently still exist. He used to Stefan to find out where I had buried Alexander.

exactly, ugh

[negotiates]

[That's a big enough revelation to make Elijah draw in a surprised breath.]

The Five... Where are they?

I really hope he ends up being the one to actually undagger her

[easily]

One of them has been here in Mystic Falls [She has no idea Connor's died, or that Jeremy took his place.]

[negotiates]

[His gaze sharpens. Now they may have a lead.] Who?

[easily]

His name is Connor.

The tattoos are hidden now though. The only one who could see it is Elena's brother, Jeremy.

Nik wants to use the map to find the cure. So he can fix Elena and make more hybrids.

[negotiates]

[He exhales.] He's been busy.

[Then, looking again at Rebekah. His baby sister, so horribly mistreated by Klaus. His primary concern is to make sure she will be all right. And then he'll make sure that this never happens again.] Feeling better?

Of course. Anything for his precious hybrids.

[If her words sound bitter...it's because they are. She's stayed by Nik's side for so long and for what? To what end? She's just tired now.

She takes another long drink from the blood bag, nodding a little.]

A little.

[negotiates]

[He doesn't smile, but he's glad when she nods. Whatever happens, they will recover. Klaus has never been able to break Rebekah's spirit.]

Rebekah... [Okay, now this is difficult. He clears his throat.] I owe you an apology. My absence gave Klaus free rein to dagger you again. When I promised to stay with you a thousand years ago, this was... not what I had in mind.
