[She tenses a little at his words. She hadn't expected them, after all. Spending so long with their other brother, she's forgotten almost what a true apology sounds like.]

It's not like you could help it. After what happened with Katerina...you were not given much choice. And I chose to stay with him. [And she chose to stay in Mystic Falls, even after he had snapped her neck. What does that say about her?]

Will you make the same choice now? [The look he gives her is almost pleading. He's tried before to persuade her to leave Klaus. She never has.]

No. Nik made that choice for himself when he decided to disown me. Such words cannot be taken back lightly.

No, they can't. [He'd say that was crossing a line if Klaus hadn't crossed so many already. They will not be reconciled.]

So, Klaus has his grand plan. What do you say we do about it?

Well, as he and Stefan seem to be content to decide for Elena whether she gets cured or not, perhaps we should inform her what's going on, to start with.

[Excellent idea.] I agree. No doubt Elena will have something to say to Stefan about that too.

I imagine so. And as he had no problem helping Niklaus manipulate and dagger me I see no reason why he should not be punished for it as well.

[negotiates]

Did he? [Elijah's opinion of Stefan is rapidly going downhill.] I can think of a few ways to do that. And Niklaus too.

It seems Nik convinced him if I was left alone, I would tell Elena and everyone else of their plans. [A pause.] To be fair, I probably would have. Why give Nik his ability to make hybrids back? Let him be alone for a while, see how it truly feels. Perhaps he'll learn something.

[negotiates]

You would have had every right to. This cure, if it exists, affects all of us. Every vampire... [He pauses. He's thinking out loud, but of course this is much bigger than their revenge plan against Klaus.] Whomever possessed it would hold power over all of us.

Assuming it still exists. Or ever did at all. [After all, Alexander had only told her about it. She never saw it. For all she knew, it had been just a way to get vampires to expose themselves.

She realizes that now, nine hundred years later.]

I have my doubts. [It's true. They never saw it. But Klaus obviously thinks there's something in it, so they have to take him seriously.] But the sword and the... tattoos? They must mean something.

It's the first time we have heard of the Five in nine hundred years. There must be a reason why they've resurfaced now.

Maybe Mystic Falls is just that special. [No, srsly. Why is everything happening in Mystic Falls.]

[She actually laughs a little at that. Because seriously why does so much happen in this tiny town.] It's entirely possibly.

When this is done... [And who knows when that will be.] Do you want to stay?

I'm tired of running, of having no place to call a home. [But on the other hand, everyone here hates her.]

[She gives his hand a small squeeze in response.] We can track down Kol. [All of them. Except Klaus. He can be alone since he can't appreciate family.]

He'll be happy to see you again. [Yes, except Klaus. They will be together and he will be alone with only his hybrid minions for company. Perhaps then he will learn to appreciate his family.]
