sick day meme

RULES
► Post with your character, name and fandom in the header.
► They are now, for some odd reason, sick (headache, fever, runny nose, cough, whatever you want).
► Another character replies and is struck with the sudden urge to take care of them (bringing them soup, extra blankets, Sudafed, sexual healing, what have you).
► Go from there!

He paused, "Do you feel that someone else can come in here? I will stay and make sure they don't hurt you."

He's certain with Gilbert's dehydration that an IV will be necessary and he's not looking forward having to hold his brother down while a nurse tries to poke him with needles.

When the nurse enters in response to Ludwig sticking his head out, she is this absolutely tiny slip of an Omega, barely five feet tall, and beginning to show signs of a pregnancy of her own. Clearly the doctor's thought process was to find the least threatening nurse in the entire hospital, because she doesn't seem like she could hurt a fly, much less a grown man. "Hi! I'll be taking care of you today Mr Beilschm- Oh! Oh my. You're an Omega?" She blinks at Gilbert in confusion. "Gosh, you're big! Um, sorry. Anyways, I need to take your vital signs and draw some blood. Is that okay? If you need, it's perfectly okay for your mate to hold you." As she talks, the nurse is busy setting out everything she'll need to check his stats and get the blood sample. It appears the doctor neglected to tell her that the healthy Mr Beilschmidt is the patient's brother.
Gilbert just... Stares at her. Wait. What. She... Oh. Medical procedures. Well, okay, since she's not a threat to his health or bond with his mate. "That's... fine?"

See, he's not going to leave you, Gilbert, you're safe. Just let the nice lady take some blood and check your vitals.
He doesn't speak out loud, just provides a comforting silent presence. Or he hopes it's comforting.

When he sees the needle as she turns around, almost all bets are off. Except he goes with flee first, so... Ludwig, have fun getting your brother off your back. Even the reassurances from the nurse that she usually works neonatal and is used to difficut, tiny veins doesn't help.

He's trying to get his brother off his back so he can hold him properly.
"Gilbert, she needs to draw blood to find out what is wrong. Calm down," he's trying to use his gentlest command voice possible, hoping the sound of his voice will penetrate through the panic. At least his brother wasn't heavy.

The nurse keeps back, out of the way.

With a sigh he attempts to sing this, much to his embarrassment, in hopes that the song will at least get his brother's mind off the needle.

He's prepared to grab Gilbert and hold him back if necessary.

Even as weak as Gilbert was from illness, its remarkable how strong he still is and is difficult to hold onto. He's reciting the parts of a VW Beetle in a soothing voice.

The nurse is, understandably, very nervous. On the one hand, she is pretty certain she can't stick Gilbert if he says no. On the other hand... Ludwig is a terrifyingly large and strong Alpha, and her first instinct is to do as he says. And the doctor did order the bloodwork to be done quickly, so it must be very important... "I... I'll be done before you know it, Mr Beilschmidt. It won't hurt. I promise."
no subject
So, yes, the nurse could draw the blood, since it was required to find out what was wrong with Gilbert. He is not looking forward to the IV that he knows will come when they realize just how dehydrated his brother is.

He hopes the nurse chooses to do so, as his plans to calm his brother down involve showing affection of the non-brotherly sort, and while she is confident that they're mates and not brothers. He'd fill better if they aren't discussed around the water cooler.

Gilbert calms down some as soon as the nurse leaves, but he is still a tightly wound springcoil of tension restrained in Ludwig's arms. He huffs, glaring after the nurse's retreating back. "She is not sticking me, now or ever! And you're a liar because it is too against the law! We call it assault where I'm from; but I guess going after someone with a sharp object is perfectly legal in stupid knothead land?!"
