sick day meme

RULES
► Post with your character, name and fandom in the header.
► They are now, for some odd reason, sick (headache, fever, runny nose, cough, whatever you want).
► Another character replies and is struck with the sudden urge to take care of them (bringing them soup, extra blankets, Sudafed, sexual healing, what have you).
► Go from there!

He stayed silent, while the doctor spoke and was surprised that Gilbert only had one question. He had a thousand questions, but he would allow Gilbert to ask first. And turned to him.
no subject
Actually trying to think of relevant questions is enough that he wants to panic at the thought, possibly with yelling about how he's not ready.
The doctor does, at least, affirm that he will have his own room -only because of his history of violence, mind; they wouldn't normally allow it for such a mild condition- but that any extra pillows will have to come from home. Although, ideally, he will be home by the weekend, so it may be best to just try to make do with what is available.

He turns to the doctor to start his questions and decides that the best questions to ask would be, "Do you have an estimate of the delivery date? How does that occur?"
no subject
The doctor explains how they calculate the date based on when the Omega's last heat occurred, but given the circumstances with the medication Gilbert is on, it would probably be difficult to say for sure until the foetus was a bit bigger and they coul- "Two weeks ago Saturday," Gil interrupts. At the doctor's puzzled look, he explains. "Last time I was fucked. So that's when it happened."
After that, the doctor is able to give an approximate date, with the caveat that the baby could be ready to come out sooner or stay in a bit longer.
no subject
He took a deep breath and tried to control his embarrassment. "And the other question?"
no subject
Gilbert looks extremely uncomfortable by the time the doctor is done explaining how birth can occur. If he could hide, he would. As it is, he's just glad his nausea has abated.
no subject
He wants to keep his brother and their child safe and secure. He doesn't want there to be any problems, but he'll worry endlessly. Gilbert will probably be babied more in the next nine months than he'll be able to stand.
no subject
Although Gilbert would ordinarily be grateful the doctor isn't giving Ludwig more reason to baby him -because if Ludwig tries that shit, he will suffer for it- he's presently worried by that line of questioning.
no subject
He's taking in all information he could get and finally asks, "What are some good books on the subject?" Yes, he was planning to go to the library and start reading.
no subject
Gilbert just looks back and forth before he finally growls, a little annoyed with how they're talking over him like he isn't there and can't handle himself and needs someone to look out for him. Sorry, Ludwig, he loves you but just let big brother fix this. "Excuse me. One: I don't have a mate. Two: I don't appreciate you talking to my baby brother like that when he's obviously worried. Three: I want to go to sleep, so can I please have an actual room now?!" At this point, he doesn't care if the doctor thinks he's being hormonal.
no subject
So, Doctor Know-It-All, get his big brother a room so he can rest.
no subject
As soon as Gilbert is certain the doctor is out of range, he looks up at Ludwig. "So... Uh. Surprise, I guess?" He rubs the back of his neck idly, glancing away, before laughing softly. "Shit. I was expecting a few more months to get used to the idea."
no subject
He reaches over and squeezes Gilbert's hand lightly. "Besides pillows, is there anything else you'd like from home?"
no subject
Gilbert will explain a bit more once he's actually in his room and settled in. Until then, he's aware the orderlies will show up any moment, and that the emergency department lacks privacy regardless.
no subject
He wants to ask a dozen questions of Gilbert and knows they need to talk more. So he plans to do so when they're alone, or at least given privacy.
no subject
The orderlies come in, then. After some discussion and preparation, they get Gilbert up on the transport and move him to his room.

He tries to move around quietly to allow Gilbert to sleep more.

"Hey, you feeling better now?" he pulls up a seat and sets the backpack on the floor next to the hospital bed.

"In here is everything I need to fill out for you to have rights to your kid without me saying anything that will get you arrested and me sent to psychological counseling." Gilbert sifts through the papers until he finds the one that summarises the law in question. That one he hands over. "Technically that law was never intended for a situation where the Omega deliberately intended to sign over parental rights, but the law doesn't specifically prohibit it. I'd need to talk to a lawyer to know how to phrase things to make the process as quick as possible, but..." The only question is, would Ludwig even agree to the idea? Gilbert genuinely would rather, if only one of them can have parental rights, it be Ludwig. If their positions were reversed, for instance, Gil would have only thought to bring exactly what he was told. (Of course, Ludwig likely would have provided a complete list, but that's another point to why his brother would be the better parent!)

He blushes because he wants Gilbert involved.
