Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you.

How to Play:
* This is a shipping meme for more tender, soft moments, but a little more serious than your usual "fluff." It's for people who've been broken down by their experience and those who wish to heal them.
* Comment with your character/your preferences. You may also want to specify whether your character will be the one "cared for" or the one doing the "caring" + pertinent information, but for most effectiveness, it's best to be open to both.

[The train ride back to District 4 is smooth and quiet. Finnick doesn't know where Mags is, but that doesn't particularly bother him at the moment. Instead, he keeps letting his gaze drift back to the girl on the seat across from him. Annie, a victor, a survivor. He glances away again, staring out of the window.

A fluke, they called it. The dam breaking and drowning the other tributes still left alive.

He's quiet in a way that Finnick doesn't usually act in front of other people, but he figures... He figures that he can be himself in front of her. Who is she really going to tell anyway? He glances back with a small smile.] We'll be home soon. Are you ready for this?

[It had started out as a beautiful day. Chris had talked Fluttershy out onto a boat, to explore a nearby reef for a few scuba lessons. Things had been going well, and after a while she seemed to be doing well enough that the two of them drifted apart to explore different areas of the habitat.

This had turned out to be a mistake when a shark appeared, skimming through the coral for food. It had taken to Fluttershy as a curiosity and approached from behind, with all its millions of years' worth of predatory stealthiness.

Chris was interrupted in his work as a scream crackled over the comm line opened up between the two of them. He was off like a shot, swimming for the last place he had seen her, bringing him within view of what looked like a shark biting his girlfriend's arm off. The sight had chilled him cold but an instant later firm resolve kicked in, and he looked around hurriedly, mind working.

Passing dolphins had proved the answer. The pod, attracted by the activity and the curious boat, swam within touching range of Chris as he drew nearer himself, pushing a disk into the front of his power suit. A glancing sweep of his fingers across the skin of one swimming past and he disappeared in a flash of green light, soon barreling down on the shark with his own dolphin transformation.

The attacker, for what it was worth, had been more curious than hungry and had simply mouthed Fluttershy, now attempting to let her go. But unfortunately the rigging of her breathing apparatus had gotten caught on its bottom jaw and it was whipping around, trying to get free. Suddenly a bottlenose beak rammed into its side, jarring it loose at the same time it knocked it back. Another shot and then another, and the discouraged fish swam off. Chris wasted no time in swimming under Fluttershy and carrying her up to the surface, where he deactivated.

As carefully as he could he lifted her up onto the deck of the boat, laying her out on her back. He checked for a pulse on her wrist while leaning to see if she was breathing. The heartbeat was there but the pulse wasn't. Tilting her head back he started mouth-to-mouth, pinching her nose shut and breathing into her. Every five seconds he glanced at her anxiously before doing it again.]
