Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you.

How to Play:
* This is a shipping meme for more tender, soft moments, but a little more serious than your usual "fluff." It's for people who've been broken down by their experience and those who wish to heal them.
* Comment with your character/your preferences. You may also want to specify whether your character will be the one "cared for" or the one doing the "caring" + pertinent information, but for most effectiveness, it's best to be open to both.

[Once the water was completely removed from her body, the cough eased into a heavy breathing, trying to regain the oxygen that had been absent for longer than it should have.

Then with a groan, she stirred slightly, her eyes fluttering open.]

Fluttershy! [He leaned over her, being sure to give her breathing room but wanting to be close all the same.] Are you alright??

[She glanced around, still somewhat disoriented.] Wh-wha...?

[beingthecreature]

[Though he wanted to keep staring at her, there were other things to take care of. A quick glance showed him the series of cuts in her arm, caused by the shark's teeth. Thanking both their lucky stars it hadn't turned more serious, which it easily could have, he dragged over the first aid kit and started administering to them.]

Just stay there and relax. I've got everything under control.

[She nodded slightly and closing eyes, trusting that he was taking care of...whatever was happening.

When he started tending her arm though she winced, a small pained hiss escaping her lips.]

I know, I know. It hurts, but I've gotta get it clean and dry so I can bandage it. [He didn't mention it but he wanted to get it good enough to go back to land with. The smart thing to do now would be to get her to a hospital, but he had to get her situated enough to make the trip first.]

Mm... [Her fingers clenched a little as he continued working, inhaling sharply as the painful tingle travelled up her arm.

She shivered a little, the wetsuit cooling over her skin.]

[He felt the shiver but continued his work, only daring to move her once he was done.]

C'mon. Let's get you into something warm and dry. [Getting under her good arm, he gently eased her up to a standing position as she was ready, to lead her to the sheltered part of the boat.]

[She wobbled a little on her feet, more to do with her own unsteadiness than with the light bobbing of the boat on the ocean surface. She leaned against him heavily, her head resting on his shoulder and subconsciously nuzzling into him - for comfort as well as warmth.]

[He carefully took her around the deck and to the private part of the boat, settling her down among their things. Then he withdrew, still remaining close enough in case she needed him for support, or other help.]

[For a while she simply sat there, still trying to regain her bearings. Then, as her thoughts started clearing, she began to remove her suit, moving slow due to limited use of her arm.]

[He watched a moment, then smiled and scooted closer.] Hold on, here lemme give you a hand.

[She gave him a small smile.] Thanks...

[With Chris' help, Flutershy changed out of the wetsuit and into her other clothes. Then, still a little chilled, she was bundled up in a blanket and given some tea to drink as they headed back towards land.]

[He was almost thankful for the boat's piloting needing all his concentration, because his mind wanted to keep wandering down to Fluttershy. As it was once they docked at last he went to her as soon as possible, giving her a quick once-over.]

How're you feeling?

Mm, doing...b-better, I think...

[It was true, some of the color had returned to her cheeks, and she wasn't shivering as much. But she stil seemed a little unsteady on her feet, and she was stating to feel more of the pain in her arm.]

That's good. [He placed a hand on her shoulder, ready to help her up when she in turn was ready.] C'mon, I called ahead. I wanna take you to the hospital on shore, just to get you checked out.

[She nodded, leaning against him a little as she got to her feet.] P-probably a...a good idea...

[beingthecreature]

[He nodded, waiting until she was steady before helping her off the boat and toward the waiting ambulance.]

I let the crew know too, they're on standby in case we need extra help.

Okay...

[She had a thoughtful expression on her face, which faded into a deeper frown, but she said nothing else.]

[Catching that, he paused and looked at her.] Fluttershy? What's wrong?

[She hesitated for a moment, glancing from him to the waiting ambulance.] It...I-it can wait until later...

[Whatever it was would have to, as the paramedics came and ushered them both in the ambulance. The ride to the hospital was filled with the paramedics asking them both questions, as well as rechecking Fluttershy's wounds, so there was really no chance for them to talk.

Lucky, once at the hospital, she only required a few stitches, and it wouldn't take long for her to recover. As it was, the most she would need, under doctor's orders, was probably a lot of rest.]
