pinched from here!
You or your meme partner has been hurt, but don't worry! This time around it's not that bad. You can still limp your way out of this mess.
→ WHAT HAPPENED.
1. Sprain/strain. How did you screw up walking?
2. Broken bones. Simple fractures still hurt!
3. Cuts. Hopefully one of you has a sewing kit.
4. Burns. Location, location, location. Let's pray this one isn't on your ass.
5. Concussion. No, they're most likely not holding up fifteen fingers.
6. Other. I'm not a doctor.
→ HOW'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Stupidity. You did this to yourself.
2. Accident. Is an unintentional attack still an attack?
3. Attack. Don't lie, you deserved it.
4. Other. It's probably still your own fault.
→ WHERE'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Home. Did you remember to invest in a first aid kit?
2. School/Work. This should be excellent for getting you out of doing stuff!
3. Outdoors. Predators like the smell of blood. Clean up asap.
4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!
5. Other. Like a hospital. That'd be handy.

here i am to antagonize you with gansey some more
but richard gansey iii is an unstoppable force when he wants to be, and when he tries to pick up a stone while juggling his notes, a pen and his phone, the thing slips out of his grip in such a way that his thumb bends backwards in an attempt to keep his hold on it.
result: the stone still on the ground, his pen lost, his notes bent, the state of his phone is a pending mystery, blue has heard him let out a swear, and his hand is throbbing all the way to the heel of his palm. ]
That went well. [ definitely a note of sarcasm in that, as he holds his hand at the wrist. ]
am I being antagonized, is that what this is, I did not realize!
Or tall, that's another apt descriptor. She hurries over to his side, frustratingly short legs and all, careful not to take a tumble into slightly damp leaf litter and get herself in the same predicament. When she comes even with him, the noise she lets out is heavy with concern. And exasperation. ]
What did you do? [ Her voice comes out a touch more shrill than she intended, though she's not going to apologize for that when she has more pressing concerns. Heedless of anything else, she raises her hand to cradle his, much gentler than her tone would indicate. There's a furrow in her brow and a low hum of assessment on her lips, hinting at her worry. ]
then i CLEARLY NEED TO DO BETTER
[ which is true! even if it doesn't explain the redness and swelling at the joint of his thumb. it just sounds stupid, to explain.
he winces slightly when blue takes his hand, but she's so gentle about it that there's no real pain. his eyes leave his hand to look at her face, noting the furrow there, privately liking that she was worrying. ]
I'm fine, Jane.
not sure if I should encourage this or be frightened...
[ Her tone of voice is rather flat, which should say something in itself. Pursing her lips, she turns his hand slowly, careful to keep from jostling his thumb. ] I hope you know you can't drive back like this. [ The acidity in her voice is almost comically strong, very clearly masking her unease. She's flashing back to a crowded room, everyone gathered around, Gansey dramatically requesting someone cut the hospital bracelet from around his wrist.
She sighs, a short exhale that ends in a huff of air that's heavy with intention. ] Where's this stone of yours?
the secret is that im a big nerd incapable of antagonizing anyone so dont worry
he can hear the flatness of her voice and decides to appease the platypus. he doesn't like it, when blue is discontent with him. ] I'll have to trust you with the Pig.
[ when he looks at the ground where he'd seen the stone drop, he finds that it's no longer there. he nudges his journal aside carefully (not yet wanting to bend down to pick it up), but it's not underneath. ]
It must've rolled away.
you know I sort of suspected as much IT WAS A HUNCH I HAD
For now. But you better shape up and take better care, Dick.
She almost makes a comment about how it wouldn't be the first time, but that's not allowed. Not during daylight hours and there's still time 'til the sun disappears below the horizon.
Glancing down at the fallen notebook and the lack of anything beneath it, Blue purses her lips again. In exactly 7.25 seconds, she's going to be hit with a wave of self-consciousness about holding Gansey's hand. ]
Seems like your cell phone did too. [ She points with her free hand in the direction of the alien little square, stark against all the surrounding nature. Ah, there's the self-conscious feeling. She doesn't let go. ]
i need to stop being so obvious
[ playful. almost teasing. he pretty much dropped everything just because he didn't take two seconds to put his phone and pen in his pocket and tuck his notebook into his arm, which blue would certainly roll her eyes about.
surely she can guess, but he's not going to admit to it.
and she might let go of his hand, which is a big downside. ]
the thing about being obvious is it's more shocking when you do something not-obvious!
I'm going to punch you in the arm as soon as I'm sure I won't hurt you. [ She looks to be slightly troubled, or maybe perplexed, but it's probably due at least in part to the playfulness with which he approaches this dilemma. What an impossible boy.
Thankfully, she's quite controlled in her impulses, so she's still capable of being gentle with him. And his poor, abused hand. ] Are you going to stay here and be still if I get it?
this is true. i have the element of surprise in my favor
I think I can stand still for three seconds.
[ teasing her is an easy way to distract her from his clumsiness and her concern. as long as he doesn't go too far and anger her, of course. sometimes it's hard to tell, with blue. he doesn't always understand her reactions. ]
gotta be on guard with this one, people! sdhfg
Never mind that, she's got something to do here. Stepping back, she retrieves his various lost items, looking around after having collected the notebook and Gansey's phone - which seems unscathed for its tumble - in search of the rock that caused him to get hurt.
She looks like she wants to hurt it. ]
You're still standing still, right? [ She looks over her shoulder, blowing an errant strand of hair from her eye. She's got her eye on- well, you know. ]
no subject
Still as a statue.
[ the stone might be a lost cause, though, and he doesn't want her to waste her time. also, not everything curious he finds is every actually something curious. sometimes rocks are just rocks. ]
It might have rolled away into the under bush. We can come back for it another time, Jane.
no subject
All right. [ Or maybe not so typical. She's relenting already? ] Only because I want to get some ice on that. [ She gestures with his phone in the direction of his injured hand. She then returns to his side with his belongings clutched in her hand.
As far as she can tell, nothing Gansey finds is just anything. Still, she's not so curious she can't prioritize properly. ] Careful, the ground's slippery here.
[ Unthinking, she offers her hand again. ]
no subject
he pushes those thoughts aside. they're better kept for the night. ]
Thank you.
[ he gives her a bright, steady smile, following her back toward the parked camaro. ]
Ice would be good. [ it's the most he'll admit to needing anything or being in pain, here. he doesn't want to worry her further, and she's already on the verge of annoyance at his own incapabilities.
a stressed out driver is bad for the car. that's what it is. ]
no subject
Not 'til the sun goes down. Blue at midnight can think about those things: hands and holding them and staying steady with someone else's help. Blue in the daytime needs to consider whether or not she might have some aspirin in her backpack. Sadly, it's a safe bet there's no ice in there. ]
You don't need to do that. [ 'Thank me,' she means. Her eyes shift away when he smiles, because she's got sensitive eyes. She can't just go staring into the sun at any old time of day. ] Keys?
[ She tucks his things under her arm, careful to balance the phone so it doesn't take another tumble. ]
no subject
My life is in your hands. And by that I mean my car.
[ she's driven it before, so he doesn't think to tell her to be careful. the jokes are just to lighten the situation from the first time she drove the pig. although this time is different, given it's circumstantial, he doesn't want to be thinking about that midnight drive. it's a dangerous road. ]
no subject
Aren't you trusting. Just for that, I'll keep it on the road.
[ She says this for the same reason he does, redirecting attention elsewhere. Turning the keyring over in her hand, she selects the correct one without even looking. A dangerous road indeed. ]
no subject
Where are you taking me?
[ he would rather avoid the hospital. it's just a sprain, most likely, so some ice and a brace or bandages should be enough. right? ]
no subject
Well, I know you're opposed to the hospital, so. Home, I think. Here, you can have those.
[ She takes the cap off both the pills and the water, holding out a pair of the pills and keeping the water handy for when he might need it. She doesn't seem to be offering him the option of refusing. ] You do have ice in your fridge, I hope.
[ In the bathroom. You strange boy. ]
no subject
There should be. If not I definitely have a bag of frozen peas.
[ he hands her the bottle for her to close up, giving her a grateful look. for the painkillers and water, but also for taking him directly to monmouth rather than the hospital. ]
no subject
I suppose that's better than a fridge full of butter and bacon.
[ She puts the key in the ignition, aware in the back of her mind that what she's about to do borders on a religion for these boys of hers. Best be cautious and not jostle Gansey lest he get hurt some other way. Or the hurt he already has gets worse. ]
no subject
Don't forget yogurt with the fruit in it. And those... [ he hesitates. ] teas. [ so called. ]
no subject
Oh, we rarely keep teas in the fridge any more. [ As if this should be reassuring. ] And I've adopted a scorched earth policy for fruity yogurts. [ It sounds remarkably casual, this destructive yogurt behavior. ] I can't have you over to eat it all the time, after all.
[ Or, she could. But she won't. ]
no subject
[ let's not comment on how he wouldn't mind eating the fruit part of her yogurt all the time. at least blue is driving carefully, seeming both anxious and at ease. he wonders if it's driving that worries or, her driving the pig. either way, seeing her at the wheel doesn't bother him at all. ]
no subject
[ Thankfully, she's still very careful behind the wheel in spite of her emotional outburst against the evils of putting fruit in the bottom of cups of delicious yogurt. She cranes her neck slightly so as to keep everything pertinent in view. Gansey has no trouble with this, of course, because he's so leggy. And tall. And not-short. ]
