1. Sprain/strain. How did you screw up walking?
2. Broken bones. Simple fractures still hurt!
3. Cuts. Hopefully one of you has a sewing kit.
4. Burns. Location, location, location. Let's pray this one isn't on your ass.
5. Concussion. No, they're most likely not holding up fifteen fingers.
6. Other. I'm not a doctor.

1. Home. Did you remember to invest in a first aid kit?
2. School/Work. This should be excellent for getting you out of doing stuff!
3. Outdoors. Predators like the smell of blood. Clean up asap.
4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!
5. Other. Like a hospital. That'd be handy.

I didn't really know what kind of things lurked in those forests! It could have been anything.

[ watching her compare their fingers, he smiles down at their hands. ]

Yeah, it was about that big. The guide plucked it out of my hair and when I figured out what it was I wanted to hold it and take a picture before letting it go. And it just latched onto my finger.

Onto your finger. [ She sounds a bit transfixed, clearly with sheer joy at the very concept. Back to staring at said finger, she touches hers to his, contemplative. ]

That's wonderful, you know.

[ It's meant to be an admonishment to appreciate life or something like that, but her voice contains only awe. ]

Maybe you'll get to see one, one day. [ now it's her face he's staring at, warmed by the contemplative expression on her face, the touch of their fingers. gansey would love to take blue somewhere she wants to go, somewhere too far away for the camaro to make it, but he doubts she would ever accept such a gift from him. instead, he says it because he wishes for her to get to do all the travelling she wants to do. ]

I hope so. [ Blue says this in a sort of no-nonsense kind of way, keeping any hint of sadness at the possibility of it not happening out of her voice and also leaving no hint that she'd like to discuss the general logistics. There's also no hint she wouldn't want to discuss it with Gansey. If it were in some way equitable in terms of finances and whatnot, she probably would enjoy seeing the world with him.

That's quite possibly a thought she can't be allowed to entertain just yet, however. ]

I'd probably wear a hat. [ She adds this comment onto the first with casual ease. ]

Good idea. If it's brightly colored you might attract all sorts of critters. [ he almost says he'd be there to tell her what just fell on her head, but they've just navigated away from the thoughts of travelling together. so he bites it back.

but then he wonders what would excite her the most about travelling. ] What do you want to see most? Like... between tiny monkeys in the forest and ancient ruins?

[ There's something ridiculously charming about Gansey saying the word 'critters' and Blue actually blushes. What an embarrassing thing to do. ]

You know me. It will probably have things hanging off it too. [ That the... critters... could play with. Why is her life so difficult? That's the real question here. ]

The most? [ She draws her lower lip between her teeth. It's a fair, but tough question. ] I don't know, really. Anything. Everything. I don't want to feel like I've missed any of it.

[ while gansey's desire to see the world had been fuelled by his search for glendower, he understands blue's sentiment. he's seen what there is to miss. he doesn't wish for her not to. ]

There's a lot to see, but I think you'd manage to cover it.

Well- [ Blue says the word in a final sort of way, something allusive and large. ] I'm glad to hear you have faith in me.

[ She turns her head away from herself there, pointedly cutting that sentiment off before it runs into anything else. ] There's plenty I haven't seen here though, too.

[ a good thing, or gansey would have had to find a roundabout way to tell her that of course he has faith of her, of course blue sargent can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. ]

Henrietta does feel endless, sometimes. Like there's always something new to discover. [ pausing. ] Not counting magical forests.

[ And she would've had to look away in the end anyway, wouldn't she? Sometimes Gansey's kindness is the strangest and most impossible thing of all the strange and impossible things he is. ]

Admit it, at least part of the reason you're saying that is because you're dating her. [ Her mouth quirks, more with fondness than teasing. ]

You're right. Guilty as charged. [ he barely looks guilty. not even pretending to be! instead he's looking at blue. ] It's hard to be objective around so much beauty.

[ Why does that make her stomach feel a little topsy-turvy? ] You definitely see this place in a light most don't, I think.

I wish more people would see it the way I do. [ he looks down at this, his fingers running along the back of her hand, distracted. henrietta is home. he wishes more people saw its charms and magic. ]

It's hard for some. [ If Gansey can't feel the weight of Adam's name in what she's saying... ] Every place can be a prison, don't you think?

Yeah, I know. [ just like his life back with his parents feels like a prison. something that eats at him sometimes, when he knows how much some people would give to have only a quarter of the life he has. ] And there's a lot to see out there. This place just happens to be my favorite for a lot of reasons. [ its not just the magic! it's where he met his best friends. where he feels like he belongs. he'd been looking for that. ]

[ Blue hums ponderously, like she's just derived the nature of some secret from what Gansey's just said. She may have, she may not have. ] I'm sure you could tell me all of them. [ With four featuring prominently at the top? She settles a bit, closer to him now. ]

I think you can already make a few safe guesses. [ he realises he would very much like to put his arms around her when she shifts closer, but he settles for leaning back against the couch and letting their arms touch. ]

[ What a nice thought. It can stay a thought in her head and it's still rather nice, though it would be nicer to do. She chews on her lip. ] I figure I could come up with more than a few. A few is more than three, right?

About that, yes. [ he's smiling, although he's looking down and not at her. four would be a pretty good number. ]

One more than three? [ Her voice sounds strangely hopeful, like she's waiting for confirmation of something she really doesn't need confirmed, but would very much like to hear aloud anyway. Is that selfish? Probably.

Is it sensible? Definitely not. ]

One more than three. [ he's smiling at her now, knowing he's indulging again. that they both are. but this is too innocent to be forbidden, right? they can have things like this. ]

[ Blue looks rather pleased, no, happy with this outcome. ] Four is a very good number. Though five is as well.

[ So is two, but she doesn't go that far. Not quite yet. ]

Five feels right. [ said matter-of-factly. the five of them together has felt right since that very first day. blue looks happy, which makes gansey grin a little. ]

[ Blue notices that look and responds by poking Gansey's arm, high enough that it will hopefully hurt, but not hurt. ] What are you grinning about? [ She asks this with the least amount of accusation in her tone humanly possible. She might be, potentially, embarrassed. Is that a thing that can happen to Blue Sargent? ]

[ gansey swats at her hand for the poking and immediately tries to reduce his grin to something more like a smile, lifting his shoulders in a shrug. he can't tell her it was her, can he? well, he can, but he shouldn't. ] You know. Things.
