1. Sprain/strain. How did you screw up walking?
2. Broken bones. Simple fractures still hurt!
3. Cuts. Hopefully one of you has a sewing kit.
4. Burns. Location, location, location. Let's pray this one isn't on your ass.
5. Concussion. No, they're most likely not holding up fifteen fingers.
6. Other. I'm not a doctor.

3. Attack. Don't lie, you deserved it.
4. Other. It's probably still your own fault.

→ WHERE'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Home. Did you remember to invest in a first aid kit?
2. School/Work. This should be excellent for getting you out of doing stuff!
3. Outdoors. Predators like the smell of blood. Clean up asap.
4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!
5. Other. Like a hospital. That'd be handy.

[ gansey swats at her hand for the poking and immediately tries to reduce his grin to something more like a smile, lifting his shoulders in a shrug. he can't tell her it was her, can he? well, he can, but he shouldn't. ] You know. Things.

Things. [ She might not be buying it, Richard. If the angle of her brow is anything to go by, she's definitely not buying it. She might be hoping for him to say something he shouldn't, but then again, she's also not sure that's something she should even allow herself to think.

What a complicated pair. ] Care to elaborate on 'things?'

[ he should do better than to play along. it always feels like tip toeing around the truth isn't breaching any rules, but he knows that's not true. he's just fooling himself. ]

One of those four things. [ that's not really tip toeing. ]

[ In response to that, Blue taps her lips as if deep in thought. ] I wonder which. [ She takes a quick moment to drop out of her contemplation to check on his hand, which results in a quiet hum of assessment. ]

It doesn't have to do with rocks, I'm assuming. [ Here's a chance to start tiptoeing again.

But tiptoeing, as we all know, is very boring. ]

[ he flexes his thumb a little to show her how much better it's doing! he can bend it without wincing now. the peas did their job. so did blue's good care taking. ]

Why ever would it have to do with rocks? [ but his expression has everything of someone sharing a secret with someone else. is that good enough tiptoeing? ]

[ Upon seeing this, the muscles between Blue's eyebrows relax noticeably. That's good. Good job, peas. Four for you, peas. ]

Well, I don't know. Rocks are a thing you seem fond of. [ Tiptoe oh-so-carefully around, you two. ]

[ he's glad to see some of the creases in her brow vanish when he moves his thumb. good. less worrying. ]

There are special rocks out there. [ this is just going to end up in another convoluted analogy, but they feel like such a safe way of conveying that they feel anything at all. it's their version of flirting, when they won't let themselves really do the latter. ]

[ If she could stop worrying altogether, could she persuade herself to leave his side? Undetermined. ]

Tell me more about these special rocks. [ Analogies are clearly the language of love-sick teenagers residing in small Virginian towns, particularly those who are cursed never to kiss. Flirting in this language might initially be difficult, but with practice, it can be done. ]

Sometimes you find a really unique one. [ and here he does some more not-tip toeing, giving her a nudge in the side with the back of his hand. ]

[ She affects a somewhat surprised expression, with a soft vocalization to match. ] How unique?

Well, if you're lucky, you'll find one that's one of a kind. [ and rather magical, despite a supposed lack of magical ability. ]

[ Oh, you! Don't do this to her heart. ] I think I've seen a few like that.

[ well he can't kiss her so he has to compromise! ] You have? Several one of a kinds?

[ This is almost as bad as not-kissing. Or is it that it makes the not-kissing worse? Right, that's the one. ]

A few more than I thought possible, yes.

[ definitely makes the not-kissing worse. ] Are we talking a specific number, here? [ like four, maybe. ]

[ Oh yes, definitely. There's a spot in her chest that actually aches. ] How did you know? [ Again with the careful application of faux surprise to her expression. ]

[ then they are mirroring each other. ] The power of deduction. I have family ties with Sherlock Holmes.

[ Blue can't help but let out a burst of laughter there. ] Of course you do! You are a detective, after all, aren't you?

[ which makes him laugh a bit in turn. ] Exactly. It's on my birth certificate.

You're a ridiculous and wonderful creature, Richard Gansey. [ She looks equal parts pleased and perplexed by her own statement here. ]

[ oh. he's usually the one doling out that type of compliment. what does he do when he's at the receiving end?

rub the back of his neck, apparently. look at blue before deciding that is a little too much right now and letting his gaze slide away. ]

I'll take ridiculous.

[ Blue raises a brow, giving Gansey a sort of assessing look. She then looks away as well, perhaps because she's realized what she said or maybe because she's trying to be kind to him. Or maybe it's neither. ] If you're not going to take both, then I'll have "ridiculous" back, please.

[ She blindly holds out a hand between them, like she's going to accept the word from him. ]

[ he looks down at her hand, then at his, as if he was actually holding the word. ]

They come as a set?

Yes, in this instance. [ She holds out her hand more insistently. ] Well?

Compromise: I'll take both if you take delightful and one of a kind. [ what was that about tip toeing? wha? ]
