[ no space sickness, radiation burns or whatever he gets from being on the other side of the galaxy. this is just a regular hit of the flu.

if only the baddies knew that that's all it took to make green lantern stay out and down for a whole day and a half.

when he finally gets out of bed, chills making him drag his blanket along with him even in the middle of spring, he finds empty fridge. so he opens his freezer and sticks his head in it. green light hauls his phone into his hand and he presses along the B names.

he lingers over bruce. he can't. not bruce. he's not going to call his sometimes fuck buddy for chicken noodle soup. he puts his head back in the freezer and close his eyes as the phone dials. ]

[ Being sick has never been pleasant for Rey. Back and Jakku, a simple cold could lead to one's death, and there had always been the sneaky talks of who had passed from starvation or dehydration while ill amongst the scavenger types on her home planet (amongst other tragic ends) and she had experienced some close calls herself while dizzy with fever and hunger and thirst. There was no time or buffer to simply sit and recover, she had to push herself past the point of exhaustion and suffering to survive.

As it was she was feverish and dizzy, trying to fight off an illness she had no natural immunity or resistance too. It wasn't like the orphans of Jakku were immunized to the common colds that plagued the more populous planets, and she's finding out how hard that can be. Despite it all Rey is dressed (albeit her shirt is backwards and she's forgone her complicated twists of fabric) and trying to leave the suite to do some exploring. If they were ever to leave this planet, they'd have to fashion some kind of communication. And Rey would prefer it be to the Resistance before the First Order. ]

He’s still not in the best condition—Shuri fixes him up the best she could—but he’s alive at least. Since he’s going to be recovering for a while they have him in a cozy room with fine linens and decorations. T’Challa walks in soon after he wakes up.]

You should take it easy. Shuri is going to be upset if you break something after she just finished putting you back together.

[really, she shouldn't allow herself to be distracted like this. the number of idols invited to this event was phenomenal; to be focusing on anything but Muse's performance would inevitably spell disaster. as the number one idol in the galaxy, Nico ought to know that.

even so...she couldn't help but notice the telltale signs of someone who had potentially overpracticed in preparation for this event. the waiting room was filled with jittery idols of all stripes, but her gaze kept dragging back to one in particular.

in this moment she seriously regretted having such a paltry knowledge of male idols in comparison to her mental encyclopedia of their counterparts. what group was he part of? had they already performed or was he still waiting to go on? all sorts of questions that just a little more research might have been able to answer for her. stupid.

even more idiotic was her decision to approach the boy, the skirt of her costume rustling quietly as she dodged and weaved throughout the rest of the excited crowd. Muse, by some miracle, was one of the closing acts tonight. she had a little time to waste on this, or at least a good enough justification for it.

without so much as an introduction she's holding out a drink can that she'd stopped to purchase from the vending machine before fighting her way over. it's cold surface was meant to pull double duty in acting as a makeshift ice pack for his feverish head before being actually consumed.]
