Autumn Meme
THE AUTUMN MEME

It's that time of year again; Autumn.
Whether it's raking the leaves or running to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte,
the season is back upon us and it's time to enjoy it before winter comes.
Scenarios:
Look at all the pretty colors - Maybe you just feel like strolling down the street and looking at all the leaves turning colors. Maybe you're shopping for something to fit in with the autumn theme. Or you could be setting up an easel to try to capture how the trees look like they're on fire. Just enjoy the turning shades.
I didn't agree to be in this movie -Yes, it's that time again, fog time. It can be creepy or beautiful or both and guess what? You're trapped in it. Are you alone? Are you at home looking out the windows, or stuck somewhere waiting for it to clear so you can drive? Maybe you're walking home late at night and the fog is as creepy as hell and was that the sound of someone sharpening an axe?
Something to warm the cockles - Coffee house prompt. You want your pumpkin spice latte and you want it now. Or maybe you want extra nutmeg. Or maybe someone made a pumpkin cheesecake and you want the line to move faster before someone gets the last piece. You're in a coffee house and there's coffee. Have fun with that.
I just raked that - Yes, it's lawncare time. You've been ordered to clean up your yard and make nice efficient piles. Or maybe you're strolling down the street and you happen to see a nice pile just begging you to jump in. Or push your friend. Or maybe someone's dog or cat is hiding in one and is ready to jump out and scare the crap out of you. Only one way to find out.
But it's only so many days until Halloween - Oh. You're one of those. The ones that love Halloween and start setting things up as soon as there's a slight briskness to the air. Well, time to go shopping. Or maybe you need to start setting up the decorations in the window. Or the yard. Or buying candy to appease the inevitable hordes. Halloween comes but once a year, so get ready for it while you can.
Wildcard - There are plenty of autumn activities to do. Make some up on your own, be it strolling with a friend or curling up with someone special and enjoying something sweet

[She followed him into the kitchen with the pie and put it on a counter away from anything it looked like he was currently working on.]
And wine is great. I can open the bottle, if you haven't yet.
no subject
[He gave her a wink as he moved to the oven to get the bread out.]
If you wouldn't mind? It's in that cupboard. Apparently reds need to 'breathe'.
[The way he said that implied exactly what he thought about that. Weird pretentious wine drinkers.]
I hope you like garlic bread.
[Also homemade. The only thing that wasn't was the pasta itself, but that was just because he'd never mastered that.]
no subject
[Carol thought the same. Who had time to be a pretentious wine drinker? She grabbed the opener from the cupboard and went to open the wine bottle.]
I love garlic bread. Honestly, I love garlic bread like, five times more than wine. So I hope you made a lot.
[When in doubt, give the woman food. It will win her over. Especially when it's homemade. And/or pasta. And the bread smelled amazing.]

[Shown as he pulled out the tray with the long loaf, split in half and with garlic and butter baked into the top of it. The scent filled the kitchen as soon as he'd opened the oven and his stomach rumbled.]
I, ah, made a lot of everything. We both seem to have hearty appetites.
no subject
[She grins at him and then nods to the wine.]
Where do you keep your glasses? Maybe pouring it will help it breathe? Or something.
no subject
There. They're just, ah, glasses. I didn't even think about getting wine ones. Sorry.
no subject
Not a problem. It'll definitely help it breathe.
[Carol did not know that, she was just assuming. She carried the glasses of wine over to the table and then went to get ice and water into the others.]
Everything smells really good.

[Now the pasta needed to be taken off and drained, then mixed with a little bit of olive oil to keep from sticking...]
I'll let you come make your own. Ladies first.
[He went to another cupboard, pulling down two large plates, then two smaller plates for the bread, digging around in a drawer afterward for utensils.]
no subject
Thank you. That's very gentlemanly of you.
[Carol loaded up her plate with the pasta and then the sauce and meatballs. The amount of food would cause a normal person to judge. Thankfully, Steve would probably have a similarly giant plate.]
Could we just bring the bread to the table?
no subject
I think I can pull that off.
[To the table it went, and then after she was done, he went to make his own plate.]
no subject
She looked over the table and there was only one thing missing.]
Uh, silverware? Where do you keep that?
no subject
[He held up a hand with two knives and forks, moving to bring his plate and the cutlery over to the table, setting hers on her end before waiting for her to sit first.]
no subject
[Carol took her seat and then picked up her knife and fork.]
This is very impressive, Steve. Thanks for making dinner.
[And since she is very hungry, she's just going to dig right in.]
no subject
[And then he dug in too. The next bit was going to just be the sounds of two hungry people sating their need.]
no subject
[And she didn't mind having some time to fill her stomach before having their talk. Carol had no idea how to start a talk like this. She never had one before. Previous relationships either never got that far or it was just an assumed thing.
Regardless of what happens, she is going to leave with a stomach full of garlic bread.]
no subject
no subject
You know, I thought we were supposed to have this talk over dinner.
no subject
[He gestured for her to keep eating.]
We can always talk over the dinner table. That counts.
no subject
[Carol continues eating, but picks up the pace a little.]
Honestly, I am not even sure how we start a talk like this.

You should've asked that back at the door. But yes. I would like to start dating. Would you?
no subject
no subject
Yes, I want to date you. Why else would I come over with a pie?
no subject
Maybe to let me down easy? Hope the sugar could console me when you wouldn't?
no subject
[She takes another bite before following it up with:]
Does that mean you want to date me?
