Autumn Meme
THE AUTUMN MEME

It's that time of year again; Autumn.
Whether it's raking the leaves or running to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte,
the season is back upon us and it's time to enjoy it before winter comes.
Scenarios:
Look at all the pretty colors - Maybe you just feel like strolling down the street and looking at all the leaves turning colors. Maybe you're shopping for something to fit in with the autumn theme. Or you could be setting up an easel to try to capture how the trees look like they're on fire. Just enjoy the turning shades.
I didn't agree to be in this movie -Yes, it's that time again, fog time. It can be creepy or beautiful or both and guess what? You're trapped in it. Are you alone? Are you at home looking out the windows, or stuck somewhere waiting for it to clear so you can drive? Maybe you're walking home late at night and the fog is as creepy as hell and was that the sound of someone sharpening an axe?
Something to warm the cockles - Coffee house prompt. You want your pumpkin spice latte and you want it now. Or maybe you want extra nutmeg. Or maybe someone made a pumpkin cheesecake and you want the line to move faster before someone gets the last piece. You're in a coffee house and there's coffee. Have fun with that.
I just raked that - Yes, it's lawncare time. You've been ordered to clean up your yard and make nice efficient piles. Or maybe you're strolling down the street and you happen to see a nice pile just begging you to jump in. Or push your friend. Or maybe someone's dog or cat is hiding in one and is ready to jump out and scare the crap out of you. Only one way to find out.
But it's only so many days until Halloween - Oh. You're one of those. The ones that love Halloween and start setting things up as soon as there's a slight briskness to the air. Well, time to go shopping. Or maybe you need to start setting up the decorations in the window. Or the yard. Or buying candy to appease the inevitable hordes. Halloween comes but once a year, so get ready for it while you can.
Wildcard - There are plenty of autumn activities to do. Make some up on your own, be it strolling with a friend or curling up with someone special and enjoying something sweet

[Carol got up and started looking around his place. She glanced at the spines of his books and the record collection. When she got to his sketchpad she paused and glanced back towards the kitchen.]
Do you mind if I look in your sketchpad?
[She knew that some people wanted to keep their creative work private. And she didn't want to start of their relationship by violating his privacy.]
no subject
Sure. Just, don't judge me too hard on it. There's a reason I'm not in any galleries.
[It was mostly architectural, sketches of buildings and scenic views he'd wanted to capture.]
no subject
[Carol picked up the sketchbook and took it over to the couch with her. She curled up on an end and started flipping through it, taking time to admire the different things he had drawn.]
Good news. I'm already impressed.
no subject
[He smiled a little as he kept cleaning, hands soapy as he scrubbed at plates and glasses.]
Well, I'll consider myself fortunate, then.
no subject
[She continued flipping through the pages, feeling a little bad that she wasn't helping.]
You sure you don't need help?
no subject
[That's what people in relationships did, right?]
no subject
[But first Carol replaced the sketchpad and went back into the kitchen. It felt weird not being in the same space as him while they talked about their weeks. She leaned up against a counter, close enough so they could chat, but not so close that she would be on his way.]
Well, I punched some bad guys. You were there for some of that. I had a good sparring session with Thor. I took Chewie to the vet - she's doing well. I called Tony a douchebag. Jess came over and we watched some Netflix. Some serious highlights. What about you?
no subject
About the same. Minus the Jess and Chewie part. And the, ah, well, I generally stick with calling Tony an entitled ass.
no subject
He deserves to be called that, too.
[Carol takes a bite out of her cookie and chews it thoughtfully.]
I'd like to spar with you sometime. I think I could learn some stuff. Would that be weird?
no subject
[He gave her a curious look, draining the sink and starting to dry the dishes in the rack before putting them away.]
I'm surprised we haven't already, to be honest. You keep seeming to want to become the reigning champion of the tower.
no subject
[Then again, Steve was not just some guy.]
Am I that transparent? But I do. I am surprised we haven't sparred yet. Tomorrow?
no subject
[He gave her a grin, then set to putting away the now-dried dishes.]
We'll have to see if any world-ending crisis pops up, but consider it penciled in.
no subject
[She was glad that he was almost done with the dishes. Carol could appreciate wanting to keep your space clean, but they hadn't touched since deciding that they were dating. She was a little anxious.]
And I definitely like that you won't go easy on me.
no subject
You wouldn't let me. I have a feeling if I attempted it, I'd wind up with something hurting for a while.
no subject
I'm getting worried that I come off as being extremely aggressive.
no subject
With certain things? Let's just say... we know better than to make any comments about you being 'just a woman'. Which I agree with, by the way.
no subject
I'll admit to that. But I'm glad you all know. Mostly I'm glad you agree. It means i won't hurt you even if you went easy on me.
no subject
What would you do if I did happen to go easy on you?
no subject
Okay. There would be one punch to the arm, and then I'd leave all of my paperwork for you to do for two weeks.

I was thinking more...
[He stepped closer, sliding a hand to her waist, then around to her back, pulling her in just a bit as he smiled down at her.]
Something a bit more useful?
no subject
Yeah, okay. I like this a lot. I guess I won't punch you.
[But she would lean up to kiss him. After a move like that, how could she not?]
