Autumn Meme
THE AUTUMN MEME

It's that time of year again; Autumn.
Whether it's raking the leaves or running to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Latte,
the season is back upon us and it's time to enjoy it before winter comes.
Scenarios:
Look at all the pretty colors - Maybe you just feel like strolling down the street and looking at all the leaves turning colors. Maybe you're shopping for something to fit in with the autumn theme. Or you could be setting up an easel to try to capture how the trees look like they're on fire. Just enjoy the turning shades.
I didn't agree to be in this movie -Yes, it's that time again, fog time. It can be creepy or beautiful or both and guess what? You're trapped in it. Are you alone? Are you at home looking out the windows, or stuck somewhere waiting for it to clear so you can drive? Maybe you're walking home late at night and the fog is as creepy as hell and was that the sound of someone sharpening an axe?
Something to warm the cockles - Coffee house prompt. You want your pumpkin spice latte and you want it now. Or maybe you want extra nutmeg. Or maybe someone made a pumpkin cheesecake and you want the line to move faster before someone gets the last piece. You're in a coffee house and there's coffee. Have fun with that.
I just raked that - Yes, it's lawncare time. You've been ordered to clean up your yard and make nice efficient piles. Or maybe you're strolling down the street and you happen to see a nice pile just begging you to jump in. Or push your friend. Or maybe someone's dog or cat is hiding in one and is ready to jump out and scare the crap out of you. Only one way to find out.
But it's only so many days until Halloween - Oh. You're one of those. The ones that love Halloween and start setting things up as soon as there's a slight briskness to the air. Well, time to go shopping. Or maybe you need to start setting up the decorations in the window. Or the yard. Or buying candy to appease the inevitable hordes. Halloween comes but once a year, so get ready for it while you can.
Wildcard - There are plenty of autumn activities to do. Make some up on your own, be it strolling with a friend or curling up with someone special and enjoying something sweet

You realize that's a challenge, right? I might have to go try everything at least once.

I don't see the problem with that. So what if we have to visit the same bakery during the first forty-or-so dates of our relationship? You will have met your challenge.

[Pie made it into his mouth, lips closing over the fork and cleaning off the red goo.]

[Also she might be looking at his lips right now. Actually she is. She's not even hiding it. But she eats some more pie herself.]

[Why cook when someone else can? Then again, she feels compelled to try after Steve cooked tonight.]
I like your place, by the way. Does it feel homey to you? Or, at least, homey enough?

[He shrugged, waiting until he finished his pie to answer.]
It's somewhere to be. I don't exactly hang out here often outside of sleeping and cleaning up.

[She took a moment to look around the room.]
If ever want to make a little more homey, I think you need some pictures. You could frame some of your sketches. Put up a picture of you and Sam.
[She stops herself and then goes for another forkful of pie.]
I'm sorry. I'm supposed to be eating pie, not giving you decor suggestions.

[She gives him a smile to show she's just teasing.] That being said, I don't know, I think you've adapted more than you know.

[He snorted a laugh, stabbing another piece of pie.]
I'm too much of a city boy to do well on a farm, Carol. I mean, I get it. I'm not stumbling as much as I used to, but it feels like there's just so much to catch up with, sometimes.

[She takes another bite of pie and chews it.]
Sure, but I think everyone in our profession feels that way. Even if we weren't asleep for 70 years. I'm not saying your feelings aren't valid - they are - I just don't think you're as alone in them as you might think.

[Steve was not really the sort for therapy. He had his own way of dealing with things and that generally required running or boxing. Or just drawing until he could get his mind on something else.]

And that's okay. I don't share a lot either. [She eats that bite of pie and goes for more.] Let's bring the mood back up. Tell me something about you, Steve. Favorite color. Favorite thing you've seen or read since joining this century.
