Will this be "Children of the Corn"? 2. TRUCK STOP You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.) 3. HITCHHIKERS? Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild. 4. WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST HIT? Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer. 5. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND! Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back. 6. OMG, I WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS LANDMARK! No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it. 7. THE GREAT ESCAPE Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now. 8. MAKE OUT~ You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next. 9. WE'RE SO LOST The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners. 10. BUT OFFICER... Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? [As the car draws closer but seems to slow down as it does, Suga tries desperately not to get his hopes up further, he completely fails as the car actually stops and produces a person. Fails even further when he assesses him to be a normal kind of guy, making normal kinds of assumptions.]

Sort of? I'm just trying to get to the next town and find a hostel to stay the night. [He swallows, grips the strap on his bag tightly.] If you could spare a ride I'd really appreciate it. [He's practically cringing with how hard he's trying to get his hopes back down to a reasonable level. He'd really love a metal roof over his head before that rain starts coming down, and this guy's probably his last hope.]

[ he blinks, honestly more than a little surprised. this guy doesn't look or sound like someone who goes hitchhiking, but here he is, totally just... going for it.

he feels a rain drop on the back of his neck. shit. better make a decision fast daichi. ]

I'm heading west, is that alright with you?

Definitely! I love west. [He blinks, did he really just say that? Apparently. He was going west anyway, so it does suit him, but jeez, way to sound ridiculous there.]

Uh. [ daichi just kinda... stares at him, but doesn't comment on it further. ]

I think we're about half an hour or so out, so hop in.

[Suga breathes out in a rush.] Thank you. [He doesn't wait for further invitation, just clambering in and pulling his bag around to shove down by his feet.]

Um, I'm Suga, by the way.

[ daichi laughs, sitting back down in the car and locking the doors with the press of a button ]

Sawamura. It's nice to meet you.

[Suga jumps a little as the doors lock. Okay, that... that doesn't mean anything, right? He doesn't think it should mean anything.]

Likewise, you've really saved my neck. [The rain's picking up even as he says it, fat drops hitting the windscreen.]

Nah, it's no trouble, we're going the same way and you don't look like you're going to rob me or anything.

[ HE WON'T RIGHT ]

[HE WON'T! He'd pinky swear if he asked him to.]

I'd have to be very stupid to rob a nice person like you in this weather.

Well, that's good to know. [ he chuckles, watching as the rain starts to really pick up. ] Can I ask what you're doing hitchhiking then or...?

[Suga cringes, his answer seems like it's going to make Sawamura think he's lacking in common sense.

Though, given that he ended up standing on the side of the road waiting for someone to take pity on him and hoping that he didn't end up completely soaked before that happened, he might well be lacking in sense.]

Saving money?

[ daichi stares at suga with the flattest, unbelieving stare. there are a lot of ways to save money while traveling, that don't involve you getting stuck out in horrible weather or risking looking like some kind of criminal.

[Suga groans and pulls his hands down his face as he sinks down into his seat.] I know! [He's glad he's managed to tickle Sawamura's sense of humour, at least? That's probably a good thing??]

It seemed like a good idea at the time, and I've been travelling for weeks and this was the first time it was a problem. I'm really not that stupid, I swear.

[ the problem is daichi is still laughing, like, really hard, way harder than anyone should when they're driving. ]

You must be, the luckiest guy alive. If you've been hitchhiking for weeks and this is the worst you've had.

[Stop laughing and put your eyes back on the road!! It's not that funny.]

There was the cat lady.... [He casts a sidelong glance at Sawamura.] But she didn't laugh at me.

A cat lady?? [ excuse you this is hilarious ] That sounds like a story.

Have you ever spent an hour in a car with more cats in it than people? [Probably not, because unlike Suga, he has a car.]

No, but it sounds terrible.

I wouldn't recommend it. She was a lovely lady, from what I could hear over the cats.

Oh my god. [ daichi's still laughing, but he manages to calm himself down enough so the only sounds in the background are the faint play of the radio and the pouring rain against the windows ] Well, I'll try not to be as horrible as that, promise.

You've saved me from this [he gestures at the weather] you'd have to try very hard if you wanted to be terrible, you'd need... seven cats. Minimum. So I think you're safe.

Seven?? Is it even legal to have that many cats in a car?

I think so? As long as they're in cages, I suppose. I can only imagine the awful accident that would happen if one got out...
