_{[The vampire just continues to stare at the kid, his brows creasing even further in dismay. This isn't good. But...at least he's taking it well. Though Dipper has told him that he's been around the block as far as weird happenings goes. He holds up his hands as if he's just going to pick the kid up himself but drops them back to his sides.]}

Are you okay? Does it hurt?

I'm fine. It...feels really weird, but other than that it's...alright, I guess.

[The initial transformation did hurt, but now it's just a matter of getting himself used to this new body of his.]

I've been kindof stuck out here for a while.

But--HOW? Did you get cursed? Because I know a guy that could help you! I think...I don't really know how to find him, but he's out there!

_{[If JC could put a tracking spell on him, surely he could un...ungulatify Dipper!]}

_{[He looks up and sheilds his eyes with a hand.]}

You know anything about these weird clouds? Since they rolled in I've felt sort of itchy.

Weird clouds?

[Dipper echoes, his ears flicking up as he looks toward the sky in question.]

I don't know...it was caused by this enchanted stream deep in the forest. Apparently any contact with the water can cause you to turn into a monster of some kind.

_{[His face blanches. Which his pretty impressive for a dead guy.]}

I oughtta read the paper more! Jesus...good thing I'm already a monster. Is nobody doin' anything about this?

_{[WHY IS HE SO ITCHY THO. Was acid rain a real thing?]}

[HOPEFULLY NOT...but that doesn't sound good regardless.]

Well, that's...sorta the problem. Almost everyone in town is getting hit by this curse. I've been trying to figure out a way to fix it, but no luck yet.

Oh...say, uh, where is this stream exactly?

_{[He recalls a short misadventure from deep in the forest. He'd gone looking for campers again and found himself distracted by a frog because he's a fucking five-year-old. Right when he was about to pounce, he noticed the mother Beer and her...fawcub...and plowed straight through it.]}

It's pretty far in. It's in a secluded glade sorta place...you could accidentally fall in pretty easy if you don't know it's there.

_{[Maurice sucks his lips inward. His arm twitches. HE REFUSES TO SCRATCH. He extends said arm and uses it to lean against the building.]}

Oh. Ahah. Hah. WELL other than that, how's life treatin' ya?

[You alright there, friend...]

Other than having four legs and wanting to eat grass all the time? It's...pretty alright, I guess.

Well hey, you're still growing, you need your vegetables! And now you can beat the pants off anybody in--in track and f-feild GOD!

_{[He can't take it anymore! Maurice claws furiously at his arm only to find that the other one has started itching as well and then, to his horror, he begins to sprout golden fur. He's shape-shifted by accident plenty of times before but it's never ITCHED. It's never HURT.]}

Shhhit shit shit I don't wanna be anything else! All I know how to be is a vampire! Help me!

W-!?

[Dipper jumps back suddenly, just barely managing to regain his footing so he doesn't accidentally stumble and topple to the ground.]

Maurice, did you run into the stream!?

_{[His reply comes out in a miserable wail as fur climbs his neck and his bones start rearranging themselves. A pair of naked wings tear free of his already worn-thin band shirt.]}

I WAS JUST CHASING A FROOOG!

[Alright, now that actually causes Dipper to startle so badly that he falls down hard on his rump, his front legs kicking as Maurice's wings appear.]

Dude-! C-Calm down, just calm down! It'll stop in a minute!

_{[What look like spines begin to pepper the wings but they soon reveal themselves to be rapidly growing feathers, gold and cream and all of them damp. Maurice drops to his hands and knees as his jeans grow baggy. His form lurches as he tries to fight it--to shift into something else, as if maybe that would stop it.]

[It doesn't work.]}

I CAN'T CALM DOWN, MY GUTS ARE--ULP.

_{[He slams his jaws shut. He doesn't want to hurl in front of a kid.]}

[Dipper scrabbles backwards helplessly, knowing there's nothing he can do to help Maurice while he transforms. He's gone through it, Mabel's gone through it, basically near everyone has by now.

So all he can do is wait it out.]

_{[It's over soon enough, just like Dipper said. Maurice digs his claws into the fabric of his shirt and yanks it clear of his wings. Then he awkwardly kicks off his jeans and starts lashing his long lion's tail as he circles around trying to look at himself. His wings drag the ground.]

[The only thing that HASN'T changed is his head because he is now a sphinx. A vampire sphinx.]}

I thought the water on the south side of Tworock could mess you up but this is ridiculous! I can't even tell what I'm supposed to be! Doesn't your book say anything about evil creeks?

It does, but it's...really vague as to whether or not there's a cure or anything. I didn't see it before because the page it shows up on can only be seen using a black-light.

[Instead of trying to get up Dipper remains seated on his haunches; a bit awkwardly, but.]

...how are you feeling?

_{[Maurice sits on his own haunches. He's far more used to sitting as an animal but lion feet were just a little different than his stumpy dog feet. He looks at his front paws, surprised to find no claws there. He flexes them a couple of times and--THERE THEY ARE. Okay, whew.]}

I sort of want to throw up...Dipper, I can't go home like this! At least as a vampire everybody just thought I was sick or a weirdo!

_{[He rakes his claws through his hair and his feathers stand on end.]}

Well...you said the bus hasn't shown up yet anyway, right? Maybe...I don't know, maybe I'll be able to figure something out before then.

[He grimaces, reaching up to absently scratch behind one ear before quickly pulling back, always a little surprised to feel how furry they are now...]

_{[The sphynx rears up and awkwardly toddles over to Dipper so he can put his huge paws on the kid's shoulders and gently shake him.]}

You. Have. To! Hell, I'll help! Let me see it! I can't be a whatever-this-is forever! I can't even turn into a bat anymore!

Okay, okay! I've been trying, for days!

[Dipper goes a bit rigid at Maurice's touch, mostly because the deer instincts react pretty badly to the sphynx hovering over him.]

_{[Maurice is too blinded by his own panic to notice the poor cervitaur's dismay.]}

Where's the book? Like--man, I dunno, I don't know a lot! But another pair of eyes can't hurt, can they?

_{[He drops back down and moves to gather up his ruined clothes. The sphinx promptly trips over a wing and boggles at it, finally noticing that he even has them. WHAT IS HE? Of all the times not to have a reflection.]}

Here, I've got it right here-

[He replies quickly, pushing up off the ground so he can stand as he pulls the journal from his vest and quickly thumbs through the pages. He reaches a blank one- smeared with soil in places where it had been dropped a few times, as well as being a bit wrinkled from having to dry after being dropped in the stream- that doesn't seem to have anything written on it much.]

This is where it talks about the Fluvius Cantatis.

_{[Maurice gets up and manages to gather up his clothes and boots in his paws and then totter back over to dipper and his book. God this body feels weird. He put a paw against his chest. Still no heartbeat.]}

Fluvius Catawhat? Y'think we oughtta go inside somewhere? I don't know if Whatevers are still allergic to the sun.
