No, they won't eat us. They're friends of mine.

_{[Maurice pressed himself low to the ground and started shuffling away from their hiding place until there were a few more bushes between them and the hunters.]}

What do they think about the sudden boom of monsters?

I dunno, I haven't seen them in a while. They don't really get too close to towns or humans in general, so they might not know about it.

[He just hopes they haven't gotten mixed up in this mess, or they'll have a real problem.]

As long as people don't start spreading to their hunting grounds, they probably won't bother with it much. I hope.

[toothaches]

Oh man...I didn't even think of that. When the group of vampires that live in my town found out about me hunting in the city, they were super ticked off...and there's only five of them. How many man-o-taurs are there?

[deernoise]

I don't remember how many exactly, but way more than just five.

[toothaches]

Oh.

_{[Well that means they're SURE to know about the new monsters.]}

Whatever! Let's go!

[deernoise]

[Dipper nods, pointing in the direction he should go before reaching up to pull his hat down.]

Yeah, I think those hunters gave up trying to chase us this far in.

[Dipper lets out a relieved sigh, running both hands through his hair.]

We might have to hang out here for a while though, just to be safe.

[toothaches]

I'm cool with that...I mean, they're your friends, right?

Yeah. They're probably in their caves...and they look exactly how you'd think.

[Like a Minotaur, but....a Manotaur. It's weird.]

They'd recognize my scent at least, so I don't think they'll bother us. If they do, I'll try to explain the situation.

Mmmmn. Welp. Better get started.

_{[Maurice spreads his wings and dumps out the clothes that he'd carried with them. He sits back on his haunches and sticks his big dumb lion feet out before trying to fit his shoes on the ends of his paws.]}

Alright that's...close enough.

_{[He shuts his eyes and rubs his temples with his forepaws. Think. PEOPLE THOUGHTS.]}

[Dipper takes advantage of Maurice's pause to slide off of his furry back, shaking himself bodily once all four hooves are back on solid ground again.

Once he makes sure his hat and journal are still on him, he turns his attention back to the Sphinx.]

...what are you doing?

_{[He held his paws up.]}

I'm trying to think human thoughts. Like infomercials and going to the dentist and college debt.

Those are some pretty specific thoughts.

_{[He squints open an eye.]}

_{[He fluffs his wings up.]}

[Dipper asks suddenly, his tail flicking with a scowl.]

I've been looking for a cure for ages, but I don't think thinking it away is it.

_{[Perhaps, for the first time in Dipper's presence, the sphinx starts losing his patience. He lowers his paws and rocks forward onto them again, standing with his wings flared.]}

_{[And then, his eyes light up against his will.]}
