![]() In matters of the heart, actions speak louder than words. Still, words are pretty important, too. Or, if you're feeling more risque... Silence is golden - words are priceless. So that means dirty talk is incredibly valuable.

Cultures handle sex incredibly differently. While it may be casual in some societies, in others, the act of copulation equates with commitment. And that's all in one species! This gradient of reactions and attitudes becomes even more complicated with the addition of different species. Yes, species...sentient and sapient, of course! Be those races alien, magical, vampiric, angelic, animalistic, or even a vague mutation of humanity itself, all have a somewhat nuanced view of what sex should be, be it healthy or unhealthy. There's probably even other ways to go about it for them, not to mention the variation in the actual mechanics. How presumptuous to assume that everyone in this whole wide universe would be shaped exactly like bland ol' humans? Throwing two species together for a sexual rendezvous is inadvisable, yet it happens. Specifically, it happens in this meme. Whether the encounter is nervous, romantic, non-consensual, awkward, sexy, or anywhere in between, there's bound to be baggage, unfamiliarity, and the ultimate culture clash.

"A missed connection is a type of personal advertisement which arises after two people meet but are too shy or otherwise unable to exchange contact details." - Wikipedia
HOW TO PLAY
- Subject line: your character / canon / prefs (whether you're open to cross-canon/misfires/etc). Comment: a "missed connection" ad placed by your character. You can make it as specific or as open-ended as you want. Get creative. Make liberal use of Noodle Incidents.
- Reply to any ads that are directed at your character. Or look like they might be directed at your character. Or can somehow be construed to indicate your character. (Just remember to respect people's stated limits.)
- Thread your little hearts out.
»» HOW DOES IT WORK?
1. Post as your character, listing any preferences you'd like respected.
2. The responder replies. They can select the scenario, or they can leave it to you to do it.
3. Whoever's doing the picking hits up the Random Number Generator for two numbers: one between 1 and 8, representing who the first character is being rescued from, and one between 1 and 5, representing the reason for the rescue.
4. Alternately, make up your own scenario if you want.
5. Play it out! You can play out the rescue itself if you want, or just the aftermath--or both.
6. Make sure you take note of any preferences a player might have and warn for triggers in the subject line if they crop up.
7. Have fun and make sure you swoon properly!
»» WHO ARE YOU RESCUING THEM FROM?
1] Their greatest enemy. For whatever the reason, the character's greatest enemy has finally made a move and taken them captive. Who knows what they plan to do to the poor character? Good thing you've come to save them.
2] Your greatest enemy. Your own enemy has decided to make a move against you--but not directly. They've taken this character hostage instead. Show them who's boss and rescue the victim!
3] Natural disaster. Come hell or high water, you'll save the character...and, in fact, it has come hell (in the form of fire, maybe) or high water (perhaps a flood?). Or something like that. Whatever. The point is, nature itself has it out for the character, and it's up to you to save them.
4] Wild animals. Stephen Colbert was right: bears are the number one threat. Or maybe lions. Make sure the character doesn't become dinner.
5] Supernatural forces. Actually, it's dragons. Or evil wizards. Or demons. Take your pick, just so long as you rescue the character from them.
6] Pirates. Just what the pirates intend to do with this character might be a mystery--could be they'll walk the plank, or worse. Time to pluck them from the hook-hands of danger.
7] Vice. The character has sunken into dissolution, perhaps out of despair or maybe from sheer uncontrollable self-indulgence. You're the only one who can step in and give them a new lease on life.
8] Their own bad judgment. The character is committed to a truly terrible course of action. Fortunately, you're here to make them see reason...one way or another.
»» WHY ARE YOU RESCUING THEM?
1] Love. The fairy tales have it right. It's true love that spurs the knight to rescue his fair maiden...or vice versa.
2] Friendship. It's not always about kisses and ravishing, you know. Sometimes, you've just gotta look out for friends and family, no matter what sticky situations they get themselves into.
3] Rivalry. Only you're allowed to dish it out to the character! Better make sure no one else gets in your way.
4] Debt. The character owes you, in one way or another. They don't think they can get off easy, do they?
5] Money. Plain and simple: you were hired for the task. It's nothing personal, just business.

![]() There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life. But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor? They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?" how to play

Ideally, attraction doesn't hinge entirely on the basis of looks. Beauty fades, after all, and no matter how you may swoon over a person, no one wants to be left with someone whose personality they can't stand once the blush is off the rose. How much looks matter, then, varies from individual to individual. Still, you can't divorce that facet completely from attraction, can you? There's no way you could fall in love with someone you've never actually seen! Emotions and affection are strange beasts. Your character has fallen for a person (?) they've never actually laid eyes on, at least not fully. The two of them have talked - most likely at length, leading your character to feel safe revealing information and growing close - and perhaps the mysterious half has saved your character or pulled strings so events go in their favor. Yet their never actually seen their benefactor, trusted companion, or lover has never stepped into plain sight. They could hide, stay in the shadows, insist on blindfold or covered eyes. They use communicating devices, like phones or computers, or they only come out at night. Maybe your character just cannot see the other; they're blind or the other character is somehow invisible. No matter how tight the bond between these characters is, your character has to wonder what this person (how are we so sure it's a person?) they've come to have such strong feelings for looks like, right? Don't they? Surely, it eats at them, tugging at the back of their mind, despite what they may think they're content with. Of course, you could also play the character who's keeping out of sight. Whether they have real, deep fondness or love for who they're "hiding" from or if it's all a cruel and elaborate manipulation, their reasons (and methods). There's a danger that follows them and they don't want to bring anyone into the line of fire. They don't want anyone to see their general appearance, their hideousness, their species, their mutation, or their scarring. They could just be shy! Regardless of the situation, they have to know eventually their relative anonymity will come to an end. Hiding from someone who cares for them isn't viable, and when and if the reveal should go over badly, will their merit on personality alone make up for what could be called deception? HOW TO PLAY
