Most societies have certain mores that are unspoken rules; humanity itself even has such conventions, grilled subconsciously into our minds for our own safety. Don't go out alone at night. Avoid getting wet when it's cold. Don't pick fights with those stronger than you...okay, some of us missed the boat on the last one, but the point still stands. Society's rules tend to be more variable, though they apply to most aspects of life - including sex. In fact, bending the rules on what's considered acceptable in romance and sexual encounters can lead to anything from ostracization to death, depending on the time and culture.

So, play it close to the chest if you're going to do a big, big, big t a b o o. Is it worth the risk?

Pair up with someone to hunt with or find the creature you're after. Maybe even save some people along the way. What's that? You want pay? Take it up with the customer, buddy. Have fun, get messy, don't get eaten or possessed or whatever. Unless you're a monster CHASER, in which case that's a different meme category altogether.

You consider yourself a realist, or even if you don't consider much, you're not sentimental. Bonds between people are grown through years of mutual experience, if that. Love is...difficult to describe, but if you do believe it exist, you think it's something that's worked at every day. Love at first sight? Now that's just ridiculous. There may be a rush of hormones, but you can't actually feel that strongly and that intensely over a person you've just met, especially when it's you. Especially when that someone is someone you'd never expect to fall for.

Well, the concept of "falling" in love is silly, anyway. If anything, it's more like a slow, leisurely saunter downwards - if such affections are even on your radar at all. That's how it truly is; people who fall in love with first sight are setting themselves up for failure and a short-lived relationship once the infatuation fades. You would never...

...you just fell in love with someone at first sight, didn't you?

Have you two been intimate before this, or is your first time...with them or first time period? Do you know what you want and are you full of lust, or do you have no clue what's going on? You've been with them for a long time - years, perhaps, maybe even their whole life. More than that, you served as a true friend and supporter. No one could be as dedicated as you are, and you're content to stay in the shadows and let them shine if it just means you can stay by their side a little longer.

But you're not a perfect saint or a martyr of friendship. There are somewhat selfish undertones to your loyalty. You love them.

You feel like you’ve loved them forever, yet while it’s a great affection - no, “great” is probably not enough - in your heart, these feelings are your secret, kept away from everyone…possibly from the object of your desire themself! After all, you couldn’t burden them with anything like that. So, you’ll allow your own emotions to come in second place.

Of course, you haven’t allowed yourself to figure out how this could come back to haunt you in the end, could you? What about when your love moves on to someone who’s “more than a friend?” They won’t need you as much any more. Can you take into account the moment when you snap and can’t hold back the truth any more? And even if you’re really “together,” others won’t know if you keep your relationship under lock and key, and you’ll have to endure others approaching your lover.

Then again, the shoe could be on the other foot. You could be the side being pined after. Will you ever realize your friend’s feelings; if you do, can you return them? After you are certain that you do, will it be too late? Can one burst of passion lead you both to something that changes your relationship forever?

It's really coming down out there. In fact, a lot of it already has come down. Enough to block all the doors and darken the windows. Let's face it, you're not going anywhere for a while.

You and your companion are just going to have to find a way to occupy yourselves until the weather improves. A Scrabble marathon? Wild and crazy sex? A fight to the death over the last granola bar? These are only a few of the options.
