This is not a texting meme. This is an anything meme. Text, voice, video, and moving to action, like a jamjar network, or like microblogging - pretend you're on Twitter, or knockoff Twitter, or BookFace, or whatever you want. The point is to make a mini-post with your comment. You MUST post something in your top level. Accidentally broadcast getting your head stuck in the staircase. Ask about the best champagne for New Year's. Drunkpost a love confession. Ask the network at large if anyone else has tentacle monsters in their bathroom. Post a selfie. One line? Twenty lines? Don't care. Do it. The world is your oyster. Just make sure you link images if they're huge or NSFW.

Step 1: Post a top level WITH YOUR NETWORK/MICROBLOGGING POST IN THE COMMENT. Blank top levels will be deleted.

Step 2: Roleplay.

That's it. Gogogo.

the monster & the maiden fair meme

There's a long precedent in folklore and myth of beautiful young people - both men and women - being kidnapped by monsters: dragons, beasts, goblins, demons, elves, vampires, wolves, or even evil humans. In the end, however, these prisoners are almost always rescued and brought back to civilization to live a normal and happy life.

But what if they didn't want to leave their jailor?

They've seen behind the surface and have begun to sympathize with this "monster;" no, more than that, they've fallen for them. Will this story have a happy ending? Will the monster believe that anyone could love them? Most importantly, though, can the two of them be left alone without any attempts at a "rescue?"

how to play
  • Comment with your character, your preference, and what role they'll play. Feel free to AU characters to your desire role.
  • Reply to others.
  • Thread anything that could remotely fit under the umbrella theme. Was the kidnapping just that, or did both parties know (and care) for each other before, making it a collaborative, mutual effort? Perhaps you'd prefer to play the actual Beauty and The Beast-style getting to know each other or seeing behind the grizzly facade. What about an attempted "rescue?" Or maybe you could thread out a scene where the prisoner runs away from the society they were forced back into and returns to their beloved beast! It's all up to you. You could even do smut if you wanted to, but this isn't a smut meme.

Arranged Marriage Turned More

To have and to hold, you said, till death do us part, all while the sharp, swinging pendulum of obligation hung overhead. But how could you have truly meant those words? This union has been tainted from the start, forever bearing the chains of an arranged marriage. It would be understandable if you couldn't bear to look at your new life partner, eternal reminder of your stolen future that they are, much less like them.
Much less love them...

Still, things can change.

You could realize that they are in the same boat as you or, that when compared to others around you,
they are the lesser of evils. Perhaps you even open up to the idea of a friendship; at the very least,
an alliance may be in order to become a power couple in a perilous world. From that innocent decision or sense of self-preservation, a new feelings sparks. Something like affection.

Something, you realize in the wake of speeding heartbeats, like love.

Will you acknowledge this? Can the two of you have a happily ever after - happier than if you'd met in another fashion - or will you hold firm in your distaste?

how to play.
- Everybody loves "couples forged by less-than-ideal circumstances" tropes!
- Comment with your character, prefs, all that good stuff.
- Reply to others.
- IDEC where you set your threads, it's wide open. Fantasy world with hairy hobbits, old-timey lands, future AUs, do a space marriage for all I care. I'm sure they're still getting married in Star Wars or whatever.

ROARING 20S MEME

Well folks, we're here in the 1920s. Whether you're in the United States, Europe, some weird fantasy world, or whatever, the point is it's time to live in the JAZZ AGE. Which is like the Dragon Age with less dragons. Parties, drinking, bad decisions, murder... Wait, what? Well, ignore that last one okay? No need to get the cops involved. Besides, we're all here to have fun. And remember: there ain't no party like a Gatsby party because a Gatsby party don't stop until two people are dead and everyone is disillusioned with the Jazz Age as a whole.
