the mutual captivity dependency (romance) meme
No matter how hard you fought, how subtly or overtly you rebelled, or how many times you tried to escape, you ended up at this point all the same: you're a prisoner. Perhaps you're just a regular, run of the mill captive, perhaps a hostage, a science experience, a weapon to be used, yet, no matter what, you're not free.
But you're also not alone.
There's someone else confined along with you, who you met through your mutual imprisonment. The only thing you two may have in common is that you're both trapped here - and that's enough. The two of you grow close (it seems you're closer to them than you've ever been to anyone, but that could just be the situation); soon, something begins to start between you, tiny and delicate. You can't speak to what that something is, not in a place like this, but you know you want it to last. They are another reason to keep going.
Captivity, of course, has a way of stripping everything from you, including reasons to live. Surely, it is only a matter of time before this small - and still somehow world encompassing - comfort is taken from you...
...no. Not this time. They've taken all you have, right down to your freedom, and it stops now. You won't let the person who's become most precious to you in this hell be stolen away.
No matter what.
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. Are you open to AUs and assumed CR? What are your limits? Given the subject of the meme, there's likely to be triggering material here. Do you prefer very dark fare or a light at the end of the tunnel scenario?

 1. Previously aloof tough character gets injured, lets the love interest treat their injuries, and reveals a newfound trust and intimacy. This might or might not involve the tough person making that hissing sound when the love interest touches their injured face, but not quite pulling away... It's an old trope, admittedly, but an understandable one. You're hurt - physically or emotionally - and perhaps even on the brink of death. And then, out of the blue, someone saves you and brings you back. They heal you, they feed you, cloth you, wash you. In the human mind, the intimacies can bring up warm feelings, even in the hardest of hearts. Will you fight them or let them grow? And what about when it's time to leave? Below meme will contain horror concepts, triggers, and terrible stereotypes. Please click with caution.
It looms out of the woods, tall and elegant, with sweeping Gothic lines. An inheritance, or a gift, or a purchase; this house should be a blessing, but instead it's a curse.
This house knows what you fear.
1. Stranded. Your car broke down, or your girlfriend sped away. There's only one place around. It's a little creepy, but it's your only option.
2. Moving in. This is your new place! It's not so bad, and it was a great value for the square footage. Your new life is gonna be great!
3. Dare. It wasn't your idea, but you were dared to come in here by a friend. All you have to do is get inside, and then get out again.
4. The Seer. You knew there was something terrible that was going to happen here. Hopefully they listen to your warning.
5. The Native. You've lived in this house for so long you can't remember anything else. Maybe the curse hasn't touched you; maybe you are the curse. Somewhat related to:
6. The Monster. The big bad guy, no matter what form that might take.
7. The Expert. Exterminator, exorcist, priest, or vampire hunter, you're the guy they call to come clear out places like this.
8. Other. Feel free to come up with others!
1. Creepy crawlies. A swarm of spiders hatches from a sac in the wall; you find the basement is full of snakes; you awaken each morning with rat bites on your skin; the birds watch you, wherever you go. Some sort of creature is plaguing this house, and you have to fight it to get free.
2. Ghosts. There was a horrific murder committed here in the past, a crime of passion from a jealous lover. Be careful, or you'll find yourself possessed, and acting out history all over again. -- Or maybe you're the ghost, and you never even knew you'd died.
3. The Asylum. A long time ago, tortured souls were kept here. The halls still remember their torment -- and perhaps the ghosts of the tortured past will reach from those walls, and try to pull you back in.
4. A Stalker. The house would be perfect -- except for that creepy groundskeeper. Looks like he has a fondness for pruning shears, and he doesn't want anyone to take this place away from him. How many will he kill before you escape?
5. Satan's touch. This is a den of old witches, people who sold their soul to the Devil and who sacrificed children in their rituals. It's said that the last little girl they killed still wanders here, and that she will cast your soul to hell in order to stay.
6. Possession. A demon has taken over your skin. There's only one chance to save you: an exorcism.
7. Monsters. There's something loose in the woods, a product of science or magic gone terribly wrong. Defeat it, and maybe you'll be able to live in peace.
8. Zombies. The house has layers of defense, but eventually you may be overwhelmed.
9. Vampires. A very, very old creature lives in this house. A creature perhaps looking for a mortal companion to join them…
10. Transformation. Your bones are changing, your limbs growing, your skin changing. Something about this place is making you into a monster, and you may be beyond saving.

Characters find themselves in a cafe, a restaurant, their own home, anywhere with a potion in hand. Whichever potion they drink will make them feel an intense emotion towards the first person they see - so intense they can't possibly hide it. If two characters drink the same potion, it's intense, but it's even worse if they drink different potions.
001. Love - They're in love with the first person they see! They would die for them!
002. Hate - The first person they see is about to get it. They suddenly realize all those annoying quirks about their friends drive them ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
003. Jealousy - Why do they have everything YOU obviously deserve?
004. Lust - Oh my God. Why didn't you realize how hot they were before?!
005. Protective - This person is such a fragile little flower, and it's up to you to protect them from all the dangers of the world! In fact, they can never leave your sight again!
006. Possessiveness - How could they have talked to that other girl/boy in third grade?! It's time for you to set them straight and make sure that NEVER happens again.
007. Guilt - You're so sorry for everything you've ever done to them - even if you haven't done anything, you're sorry for everything you're ever going to do!
008. Superiority - They're so dumb and ugly and you're SO smart, clever and everything else under the sun. Do they honestly think they even deserve to breathe the same air as you?

 ( taking care of you meme ) Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you. |
