| SCENARIOS; |
| 1.} FIMBULWINTER, aka: WINTER IS FUCKING HERE; Midgard has been plunged into an harsh winter for three long years, icy snow covering the entirety of Earth, freezing out crops, with storms clouding the sun and moon day in and day out. No spring will come, no autumn, and no summer. "Ragnarok will be preceded by the Fimbulwinter, the winter of winters. Three successive winters will follow each other with no summer in between." 2.} MORAL COMPASSES ASKEW; Men grow desperate, with resources diminishing. Murder, theft, and violence become commonplace. You’ll have to protect yourself, your loved ones, and what little you have to survive on if you want to make it through the winter. Or perhaps you’re one of those desperate men or women, just trying to survive. "Conflicts and feuds will break out, and all morality will disappear." 3.} WE SET FIIIIRE TO THE RAAAAAAAAIN; Ragnarok begins, and all of Midgard shakes. The sun and moon are swallowed, violent earthquakes rock the continents, the sea churns and rages causing massive flooding and tsunamis throughout the globe, the sky blazes like live fire, and the serpent Jörmungandr spits venom over the land. "The wolf Skoll and his brother Hati will finally devour Sol and her brother Mani respectively, after a perpetual chase. The stars will vanish from the sky, plunging the earth into darkness... The earth will shudder, so violently that trees will be uprooted, and mountains will fall, and every bond and fetter will snap and sever... Jörmungandr, the Midgard serpent, will rise from the deep ocean bed to proceed towards the land, twisting and writhing in fury on his way, causing the seas to rear up and lash against the land. With every breath, the serpent will spew venom, staining the earth and the sky in poison... The world will be in uproar, the air will quake with booms, blares and echoes. Amid this turmoil, the fire giants of Muspelheim, led by Surt, will advance from the south and tear apart the sky itself as they too, close in on Vigrid, leaving everything in their path going up in flames." 4.} UP ALL NIGHT TO GET LOKI; The dead rise from Hel, an army amassed, and sail toward the enemy captained by none other than Loki, on their way to battle the Aesir. One would hope they don’t have a stop on Midgard on the way, but there’s not much in the way of hope here. "The red cock Fjalar will crow to the giants and the golden cock Gullinkambi will crow to the gods. A third cock, rust red, will raise the dead in Hel." 5.} THE BATTLE; The armies amass on the battlefield on Vigrid. Perhaps you’ve found your way to the front lines one way other another, or perhaps the battle is bleeding down onto Midgard. Either way, it’s not a great place to be. "The Jotuns and all the inmates of Hel, Fenrir, Jörmungand, Garm, Surt and the blazing sons of Muspelheim, will gather on Vigrid." 6.} AND I'M HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF; The battle is long and well fought, but the outcome is already foretold, and it’s all coming to a close. We are losing a futile battle, Gods and humanity alike. One by one, they all fall down. You may see your friends fall on either side of you, or get a last moment in to part with them, but you won’t have too long to mourn. You’ll be seeing them again soon. "Odin will make straight for Fenrir; and Thor, right beside him, will be unable to help because Jörmungand, his old enemy, will at once attack him. Freyr will fight the fire giant Surt, but will become the first of all gods to lose as he has given his own good sword to his servant Skirnir. Tyr will manage to kill Garm, but will be so severely wounded that he will only survive until after the world is destroyed in fire. Heimdall will encounter Loki, and neither survive the evenly-matched encounter. Thor will kill Jörmungandr with his hammer Mjollnir, but only be able to stagger back nine steps before falling dead himself, poisoned by the venom that Jörmungandr spews over him. Odin will fight with his mighty spear Gungnir against Fenrir but will finally be eaten by the wolf after a long battle." 7.} THE END OF EVERYTHING; The battle is over and now there’s only the end left - Surt burning out the rest of the whole world. The stars fall from the sky, and Midgard is a smoldering, fuming, unrecognizable thing, as the earth is sinking into the sea. "Then, Surt will burn the whole world with fire. Death will come to all manner of things. The sun will go black and the stars will be cast down from the heavens. Fumes will reek and flames will burst, scorching the sky with fire. The earth will sink into the sea." 8.} REBIRTH; Destruction gives way to creation. After what little is left of the realms settle, a new earth rises out of the sea, fields green and vibrant, a new sun rising up in a new sky. The few surviving gods left assemble to discuss how to move forward, and this new earth is slowly repopulated - either by any that managed to find a corner of the universe to hide away from the destruction in, or the children of Lif & Lifthrasir, the two humans that were kept safe in Yggdrasil. "After the destruction, a new earth will arise out of the sea, green and fair. Barley will ripen in fields that were never sown. The meadow Idavoll, in the now-destroyed Asgard, will have been spared. The sun will reappear as Sol, before being swallowed by Skoll, gave birth to a daughter as fair as she herself. This maiden daughter will pursue her mother's road in the new sky." 9.} LIF & LIFTHRALSIR; Two humans manage to survive the destruction of Midgard and the burning of the worlds by hiding deep within Yggdrasil, kept safe there. They’ll be the first to walk on the new earth that rises from the ashes of Ragnarok, as well as be the ones left to repopulate the realm. (Aka, this is your token smut option. Or just ‘hiding out from the apocalypse, whichever way you want to do it). "Two humans will also escape the destruction of the world by hiding themselves deep within Yggdrasil—some say Hodmimir's Wood— where Surt's sword cannot destroy. They will be called Lif and Lifthrasir. Emerging from their shelter, they will live on morning dew and will repopulate the human world." 10.} BUILD YOUR OWN APOCALYPSE; In honor today's one-and-only Ragnarok, we bring you the option to choose your own ending. Make it a good death, worthy of Valhalla. |
