[She's surprised when he stops her, when he pulls her in, but there's a smile there, and she slides her arm around him in return, leaning in to kiss him.]

You haven't seen me when I really go all out. But don't thank me for that. I love you. I will always step between you and someone like that.

[ He kisses her back, then rests his forehead against hers. ]

I love you too- and I wanna thank you anyway because I really appreciate it, and I'm really lucky to have you.

Okay.

[She couldn't say more about that without getting into self depreciation territory, and she knew he wasn't up for that right then. She let her fingers skim over his face, feeling the rasp of his stubble against them.]

So, want coffee? Or something we can grab and munch on along the way?

[ He feels incredibly lucky- and for the first time in a long time he feels less alone. Of course he's felt less alone being with Jess all this time- but this is in a different kind of way.

He leans into her touch, kissing her again before he pulls back so they can keep walking. ]

Sure. We can grab a coffee.

[He doesn't think he can eat right now. He just needs a little time to get his head back in the right place again.]

Iced coffee. It's too hot to pretend otherwise.

[Her arm is hooked in his, and she glances up at the sky. It's a hot day, a great day, and she wasn't going to let one asshole ruin it for them.]

[He holds her arm tight against him as they walk- maybe tighter than usual. He's not gonna let one asshole ruin their day either, but it's hard not to let that shit get into his head.]

[She had a feeling that the mood they'd been in before could be brought back, but she'd have to be shocking again.]

So, what do you want to do first when we get home? Paint each other? Use the little dick sleeves? Or play with the vibe toys?

[ He glances at her, a small smile on his face. ]

Maybe the vibe toys. And the massage oil? That might be nice.

[Especially cause he's all fucking tense now.]

I think that sounds like a pretty good night in.

[They were walking past a place that didn't have a line, but she knew had both iced and hot coffee, and she gestured for him to go ahead of her.]

To start with.

[He is James Bucky Barnes. He is no longer the Winter Soldier, and he has a life with his beautiful wife, Jessica Jones. He's very much reminded of that when she gestures for him to go ahead and makes a comment about his butt. He smiles a little more at that, shaking his head as he goes in ahead of her, maybe with a little more swish to his hips to show his ass off for her.]

[The fact that he played along had her laughing, and she followed him in, coming in close to give his ass a playful squeeze.]

[ It's hard not to smile when she laughs, and it clears some of the cloudiness in his head. Moving an arm back around her, he squeezes her. ]

Glad you think so. Are you gonna get one of the super sweet frilly coffees?

Nope. Just a vanilla iced frappuccino. I'm a simple girl with simple tastes.

[Him being happy was where she wanted him, so she could relax her hold on jadedness and play nice.]

Vanilla iced frappuccino- sounds a little frilly to me.

[He teases, but when he gets to the counter he orders two of them, cause hey why not. He might as well try a frappuccino too.]

Keep that up and I'll buy you a sexy tutu, then we'll see who's frilly.

[She snagged her drink when it came, slurping it at him and making a pleased sound. Because it was delicious, James.]

[He laughs, snagging his coffee as well, tasting it.]

That's surprisingly good. Never had one'a these before.

[She watches him sip his, glad that he liked something as simple as a mixed iced coffee.]

See? Not everything modern is frivolous. Or, at least not uselessly frivolous.

Yeah- you're right. Sometimes it's just nice.

[And even if he doesn't need it, it's okay to want it. She's starting to get him used to that idea too.]

It's totally dessert, though. Dessert coffee.

[She's still got a long way to go so that he feels he can indulge in things. But she's got nothing but time.]

It's not something I want first thing in the morning or after a hangover, but in the middle of summer when I'm feeling sassy, I'm having it.

I'm feeling... warm. I wouldn't say no to going home so I can see if I can dig out my old bikini. Lounge around in that for awhile while I drink my iced frap. Watch you in your tutu...

[He waggles an eyebrow at her, then goes back to sipping.]

I would not be against lounging around naked. You do it pretty well. Ooh, with the harness, I can finally join the helicopter dick crowd. We can have contests.

[Grinning, she took a few steps with her hips swinging, like she had it already attached.]
