[Merida loved the night-- as much as the sun was a wonderful and warm companion, she loved the fact that she could escape into the dark woods on her own with relative ease. She'd gotten better at it over the years, learning to escape her family's notice (especially considering she had to start bribing her brothers to keep quiet).

So there she was, settling down, cape drawn tight around her shoulders, watching meteors streak across the sky. The full moon lit up the clearing she had found, snow glittering in the pale light.

It was nice to have some time to herself, even if it was short.]
