I don't imagine that you would be at all familiar with it.

[However, his smile was open and welcoming. He was unaware of how risky their interactions looked through the filter of the modern world, but he was aware of the risks in travelling with strangers in unfamiliar lands. But Miss Mizuno seemed innocent enough. He saw no harm in showing his ship to her, with it's wings and it's quiet dignity.]

Did you wish to come aboard?

[It may be less the modern and common sense, and more a slightly over-cautious streak.

On-board, he could have people waiting. An ambush. But she was curious to see it - and if it was something underhanded, best to know about it right away. She followed.]

[Her stated intention earned her some respect from the sailor. Piers offered a hand of support, if it was needed, as he stepped aboard.]

--If you're concerned, there is no need for it. I was on my way to hire a crew at the next port when a storm came in. If anything, we may run into some Jellies below decks, but I can take them alone if they're a problem.

[She ignored the hand, and let Piers go ahead of her. She had no intention of being closed in on both sides. She stepped onto the ship, and her eyes swept across it.]

You're carrying cargo like that?

[He respected her space as he led her across the deck with long but steady strides.]

There's more space below, but for the Jellies. I fear that the crew I find and I will need to do a sweep before we can start loading our supplies.

[Ami places a hand on her hip.] Just what are these Jellies? [She certainly doesn't think he means sandwich ingredients, after all. He can't possibly mean some monster from fiction, can he?]

[He huffed in wry amusement: he was not fond of the Aqua Jellies.]

They're a boneless fish with many arms, are venomous, and look like they're jelly when you find their bodies washed up on shore.

[If they're like other members of what he seems to be implying is their species, they probably come equipped with a sting, too.]

We'll go carefully. [It's mostly putting a foot in the wrong place that gets a person stung.]

We will. Come now, I'll show you the space below decks.

[Ami goes slowly, to let her eyes adjust for the light once they head below where she assumes it will be dimmer. She notes the likely exits - and darker corners.]
