Even in the middle of the day, this part of the main block in Sing Sing is dark and chilly. From all around them echo the cries of other prisoners, half of which sound as mad as the man watching Sara Howard is reported to be. But the Joker doesn't look mad at the moment. He looks, in fact, perfectly lucid and calm, almost genteel, in spite of the fact that he's shackled to the wall by his wrists, ankles, and throat.

"Marry me," he says, never taking his gaze off of her. "Allow your Dr. Kreizler to see that I'm in earnest when I say I've reformed. And in exchange..." He smiles. "I'll personally see to it that you capture the creature you've been hunting. Not Kreizler. Not any of the other men. You."

[Lambert was always the first to arrive at Kaer Morhen for winter. True, Vesemir still ventured out for the odd hunt, but he never strayed far from Hertch like his pups. Thus, before the first frost ever touched the Witchers' Trail, Lambert would make his way up into the Blue Mountains, ready to see his brothers and take shelter from the world. And this was his first winter back after having met Jaskier. Vesemir had raised an eyebrow at the blue silk ribbon lacing the youngest wolf's chemise, but he'd said nothing.

Eskel was next this year. He arrived hardly a full day after Lambert. At dinner, Vesemir addressed them both, informing them that Geralt would be arriving with a guest. Their mentor didn't elaborate any further than telling them he expected them to be on their best behavior. Naturally, Lambert had grumbled about it probably being "another bitch sorceress". Eskel had rolled his eyes and gone down to the stores to grab something stronger than ale.

While Eskel was gone, Lambert had asked why Vesemir always allowed sorceresses to stay, when he refused to allow even a single witcher from the Cat school to winter in their keep. Vesemir had countered by asking him why it mattered. Lambert had deemed it best to keep quiet about Aiden, not wanting to make the old Wolf irate so early in the season.

And now, nearly a week later, the three of them were assembled in the courtyard, the gate open and awaiting the arrival of their last pack member.]

[ There was never a good time for this. There were too many of them to fight off, and what if he wasn't even there anymore? The intel was vague but it was the only lead that he had. Piers had hit a wall and there were no other options save for him going in it alone. He was ready to do so but a part of him was also considering that he may have to swallow some of his pride and take a chance on another option. It wasn't something that he was comfortable with, let alone had ever pictured that he'd be in a position to have to ask, but there was no one else that he knew or trusted that could pull this off like he could.

His steps were brisk down the hallway of the BSAA headquarters with boots hitting rhythmically against the hard surface of the tile beneath. While normally light on his feet, today he felt his steps fall heavier than usual; The weight of what's been on his mind sinking deep into the pit of his gut and through the rest of his body. One more room... He looked ahead with his eyes laser focused and scanning every wall, and every detail that lead him closer to his final destination. A corner... that was all that was left before he hooked around to scope out his target. Two more doors down... He clenched a fist at his side anticipating what he'd have to do next.

Raising a hand, he gave a few brisk knocks on the door. ]

[ His head is down as he stands outside of her office. They were technically co-workers but he'd never actually worked with, let alone talked to her before. His business was usually with Chris, but that was just the thing. Chris wasn't exactly around at the moment and he'd heard enough about her from him aside from his own common knowledge of who she was and what her role in the BSAA was; Which was to say, she was a big deal here, but an even bigger deal to Chris. The way that he talked about her was not in the typical way people around here did. It was... close. So much that if anyone could help now, it was her. It had to be.
