Locations

1. Restaurant. What better way to spend some romantic time than over food? Maybe you're at the fancy restaurant in town, or maybe you just couldn't afford anything nice, so you're at the nearest diner. Or maybe somewhere in between?

2. Games. The two of you are playing a game somewhere! You could be at a bowling alley, an arcade, a miniature golf course...the possibilities here are countless.

3. The Park. Of course, Mother Nature can provide an excellent atmosphere for romantic bonding! Perhaps you're taking a leisurely stroll through the lush grounds, or maybe you've laid out a blanket somewhere so the two of you could have a picnic.

4. Movie Theater. Or maybe the two of you are sitting next to each other in a dark room, sharing a bucket of popcorn while you're watching the latest film. Did you opt for a horror flick to keep your significant other latched to your arm -- or for you to latch to theirs -- or perhaps something they enjoy, like a sappy romance film or a cheesy action flick? Or maybe you compromised and went to see a sweet romantic comedy.

5. Skating. It's always nice to go skating, right? Are you at a roller skating rink, or did you find a frozen lake and decide to go ice skating? Which one of you needs help (you know at least one of you does)?

6. Beach. Ahh, the beach! Go ahead and set up camp wherever you like! Or if you don't watn to lay down and catch a tan, you can go swimming, or take a walk along the shore! Or if you don't want getting sand on your feet or in your shoes, go hit up the boardwalk!

7. Sunday Drive. Sometimes you don't really have a destination in mind. Sometimes you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery. Well, here's your chance to do that!

8. Amusement Park. There's plenty to do here! Take your date on the Ferris wheel, or the tunnel of love...or something more thrilling, like a roller coaster! Walk around with cotton candy!

9. Dance/Ball. School dance? Prom? Business gala? Whatever it is, you're there, and you've got a date.

prepared for the two of them?! It was--wait, it's Scrabble. They are going to play Scrabble. What the hell are they, fifty-year-old librarians? ]

Ladies first.

[ She points to Kanaya. The game is set up, they have their tiles--whatever they may be (and with alchemization involved, who knows how many of each letter there are--SCREW THE RULES)--and all that is left is to make the first move.

What will it be? ]

I feel that it would do me little good to point out that we are both, in fact, ladies.

[Kanaya stares at her letters with a dubious stare, trying to wrap her head around Rose's reasons for wanting to play a game, which, for one thing, hinges primarily upon one's ability to actually spell accurately.

At the very least, there are enough letters for Kanaya to see the potential to put down the word "glow", oddly enough. She sets the SYMBOL SQUARES down onto the board and sits back, taking a drink from her BLOODY MARY which is really nothing but ACTUAL BLOOD in a martini glass.]

I still don't quite grasp how one is supposed to judge the worth of any particular word one manages to scrounge together from random letters.

Oh, Kanaya, Kanaya, Kanaya. You're not meant to grasp the machinash...mashin--methods. Just enjoy yourself.

[ And neither was she because she did not alchemize the RULE PAMPHLET. She has no clue what she is doing. In any regard, she likely does not give a shit. ]

A self-referential choice of words. You may be a worthy adversary already.

[ Alright, she manages to pull off the word "light" using the G from "glow". Surely the escalating series of impossibly coincidental words that will inevitably come in the next several turns will have nothing to do with the Seer of Light and her power over foreseeing victory. It will definitely be simply coincidental and ironic that the two of them will have whatever they need available to them for the most enjoyable choice of words.

Besides, if she were foreseeing victory, then Kanaya would not be having equal luck with her SYMBOL SQ--er, LETTER TILES, right?

...Unless winning the game of Scrabble is not actually relevant to the victory she is attempting to foresee. But what possible other victory could come from a game than winning the game itself? ]

[Maybe the fact that they both took far more letters than would normally be afforded per the game's usual rules has something to do with their word availability. As in, both took half the available letters.]

I should certainly hope to be worthy to match wits with someone currently in such a dubious state of mental clarity, Rose.

[She sips thoughtfully on her drink, and starts to put down letters for the word "lady" using the L from "Light". This is clearly the most understandable part of the game, after all.

For her part, Kanaya hadn't been anticipating victory, not on the first try, but Rose's somewhat competitive streak has a way of rubbing off on her. She's determined to... to do whatever the ultimate objective of this game is.]

[ Oh, Rose recognizes that. She can tell when Kanaya begins to feel self-assured and she is happy to see that. ]

I have yet begun to show a dubious state of mental clarity. Time to continue the theme of--HIC--self-refren...refer--words relating to present company.

[ It also means she is going to PUSH THE ENVELOPE, probably in a less than respectable manner than she would in her normal (i.e. sober) state. ]

[ Using the T from "Light" as the final letter, she spells out "bucket". Ok, the E is actually a sideways M, but she doesn't seem to notice, perhaps because her (slightly wobbly) gaze does not stray from Kanaya.

Wonk. ]

[The meaning gets across all the same, and Kanaya flushes with indignation. The whole "playful competitiveness" thing falls apart pretty quick.]

R-Rose!

[She gives the other girl a VERY disproving look, her cheeks glowing brighter despite her attempts to dissuade them.]

Surely there is some manner of rule against the use of such scandalous references.

[Of course, even saying all this, she doesn't notice the incorrect letter usage. Mostly because she's too busy meeting Rose's wobbly gaze, and slowly starting to realize the context of her previous statement, which only serves to worsen the flush on her face.]

[What was she doing? As far as Kate's heard, blind dates are for people who can't get a date on their own and... well, okay, it's not like she's been successful in the romance department lately. Or ever. But still, a blind date is a blind date and this one's with a girl too. All she knows is that her name is Stephanie and she's a blonde. That could be anybody here on the boardwalk. At least she made a note to wear something visible from a mile away: a bright purple striped tank top and purple ombre jeans. Weird enough to stand out, but normal enough to still blend in.

She's just not blending in too well with the bench she's sitting on, hands wrapped around her cell phone with a OMG TOTAL FREAK HELP! text ready to be sent to Cassie in case of an emergency. One can never be too prepared.]

[Steph is probably going to kill Proxy for setting her up on a blind date; the only thing that's stopped her so far is the promise that one Kate Bishop is cute and single and interested in girls.

It also helps that Proxy has promised to stop teasing her about her woefully unsuccessful love life if she can manage to make it through the date without anything horrible happening. Like supervillains attacking. Or Steph's mouth getting the better of her.

She swallows down her nerves when she spots the girl sitting on the bench - she's pretty sure that's her - and makes her way over, stopping in front of Kate once she's a few feet away]

Hi, um, you wouldn't happen to be Kate, would you?

[Smooth, Brown.]

[If Kate was going to kill anybody for this shenanigan, it would be herself. She agreed to it, after all. She could have said no. But she didn't and she still can't figure out why.

Her time for thinking about making a run for it is over as a blonde girl--a pretty cute one too--stops in front of her and asks her a question. Unfortunately, for once, Kate's mouth decides to not work as quickly at it usually does even though she knows the answer to this question.

So she just stares for a few long seconds, maybe a minute. Blinking like a deer in headlights. Bishop, you are making a good impression. Yep. Sure are.]

[Okay, that's not exactly the reaction she was hoping for, even if she can understand the deer in the headlights look. Still it's - not entirely reassuring, and makes her wonder if Kate's already regretting having agreed to this.

But never let it be said Steph doesn't give something her best shot, so after she's pretty sure Kate isn't going to speak, she manages to fix a smile on her face that's something between wry and reassuring.]

I'm gonna take that as a 'yes'. Should I give you a minute or just cut my losses and head home?

No! [Okay, that's a little too much enthusiasm. Let's tone it down a bit, Kate.] No, I mean, no, it's okay. You can stay. I was just a doofus for a second there.

[She's pursing her lips outwards, almost fishlike, wondering what she can say to make herself look better. Probably not much as this point except stand up and tuck her phone into her pocket and hold out a hand for a shake.]

You must be Stephanie.

[Duh.]

[The relief is visible in her expression, probably helped along by her grin at Kate's vehement 'No!'. That's a bit more reassuring.]

Thank goodness, it's not often a blind date turns out to be as gorgeous as promised. [If she's allowed to stay, she's allowed to flirt, right?

She shakes the offered hand, still smiling.] The one and only. It's a pleasure.

Why Steve wanted to ice skate for a date was a bit beyond Peggy, but not in a bad way. It was just a little chilly, but that made keeping close to him acceptable right? No one would question it. At least she could show she wasn't too bad at skating. Only a little unsteady at moving backwards to make sure he didn't get lost.

Silly man. She grinned a little up at him and waited, only half expecting him to say something.

It was probably crazy to want to take Peggy skating. In the back of his mind, he could hear Bucky as the 'voice of reason' trying to tell him that he should've asked her to go dancing or out to dinner but this was something he'd barely gotten a chance to experience before the serum. The cold had always been his enemy and the few times he'd been able to go out on the ice had always been cut short because of his asthma or worries that he'd get to cold.

This was a gift that the serum had given him and he wanted to share it with Peggy. The fact that he could hold her close without worrying about anyone questioning their actions made the experience even better. And, with the serum's help he actually had the coordination and balance needed to not look foolish out on the ice.

Returning her grin, he gently squeezed her hand. "Thanks for coming out here with me. I never really got a chance to do this before."

[Fai was sitting on the bench outside of the amusement park. He was watching the Ferris wheel as it went around, rather lost in his own thoughts as he enjoyed the sights and sounds of the area. This was one of the most festive places he'd ever seen and he couldn't wait to enjoy it. But first..he had to wait for the other half of this party to arrive.]

[Yaaay, amusement park! If nothing else, Megumi is doing the 'walk around with cotton candy' part, taking a big bite down on it as she looks around. They haven't been on any 'big' rides yet, just a few of the shorter, goofier ones... like the merry-go-round and the bumper cars.]

We should go on the rollercoaster! [And Megumi excitedly points to the. One with like seventeen loops that looks scary as hell. She's really just teasing - she'd probably wind up puking up all the cotton candy if they actually went on it. But, well, Hikaru doesn't need to know that!]

*Hikaru's not exactly keen to ride that thing either--her stomach is doing flips just watching it from afar! But that doesn't keep her from calling Megumi's bluff.*

Sure! But we have to sit all the way in the front, okay? I hear it's way more intense that way.

[Well, that backfired. She could just admit she was trying to bait Hikaru, sure, but she has her pride to think of! Not to mention she'd probably get teased for it for at least the rest of the day.]

Oh, is it? That's, uh... good thing you heard that. [... Though she can't really get herself to actually start moving towards the line.]

*Megumi might notice that Hikaru's not exactly running to get in line either, though she does take Megumi's hand and tug a bit.*

Yeah, it'll be great! Come on, we'd better get in line before it gets too much longer.

[Wait... could that be her out? She has one chance!]

Alright, alright... [Megumi is using all of her cunning, for this one. Please let it work.] Lead the way.

[And she... doesn't move. Because Hikaru has her hand, see? This is a perfect plan and nothing could go wrong.]

*Oh. Uh. Crap. She should've broken by now! Did Megumi seriously want to ride this thing? Dammit, now she was the one who couldn't back down! She'd never hear the end of it!*

*Unless . . .*

Sure! But, geez, looking at it, that line is already getting kinda long, huh? I doubt we'd be able to get the good seats now. Let's go for the ferris wheel instead!

*Awww yeah, the perfect crime. Except for how the line is still pretty reasonable, but shhhh, details, details!*

Yeah, it'd probably take hours, to get on, wouldn't it... [No, not really, but again. Details. Especially since Megumi is too busy patting herself on the back for being so smart to really notice things like that.]

The ferris wheel is fine, then! I mean... [She squeezes Hikaru's hand a little.] It's kinda... required, right? [Squeeze, squeeze. Because they're a couple, see.]

Right! *Squeeeeze ♥* Way more so than roller coasters. *Yeah, it just wouldn't be a date without a ferris wheel ride! . . . She almost says that part aloud, but thinks better of it, just leading Megumi over to the line (which is huge, but, again, details).*

Y... yeah. It's probably for the best that we gave up on that. [Of course, if this date gets any more romanticly cliche they'll wind up on the tunnel of love. Megumi isn't sure she can handle that... so she just looks up at the top of the ferris wheel to distract herself.]

The view looks like it'll be nice, huh? You can probably see for miles and miles...

Spite, mostly, and also because she's worried that Hikaru's worried. A good, goofy little date with absolutely nothing bad happening would be a good way to make her feel better, right?]

But if it's too tall, people might get scared. [Not her, of course! But. Other people. Okay, maybe she's a tiny bit scared of heights. But... whatever, it's just a ferris wheel. And Hikaru's right next to her, which is good because it means she can squeeze her hand again as they get closer to the ferris wheel. ... Oh, she should probably finish her cotton candy before they get on.]

Hey, do you want some? [So she holds it out towards Hikaru.]

Ah . . . another indirect kiss . . . *Hikaru chuckles and takes a bite. It vaguely occurs to her that even without actually kissing, they're probably acting enough like a couple for the people around them in line to notice, but . . . argh, screw it! She shoves those worried thoughts aside (again).*

*Between the two of them, they manage to finish the cotton candy off just as they're reaching the front of the line. Pretending she didn't notice the somewhat puzzled look on the face of the ticket taker, Hikaru steps into the car.*

Hey. [Well, Megumi doesn't mind, or anything... and she doubts anyone actually heard her, and even if they did they probably just brushed it off, or assumed the person who said it was one of the... other, couples.

... Hm. Megumi's actually having deep thoughts, now. Especially with that weird look the ticket taker gave them. Well, she drops the cotton candy's stick into a nearby trashcan and steps in after Hikaru, taking a seat and waiting for the door to shut and all. Once they start moving, she suddenly leans over and rests her head on Hikaru's shoulder. Sure, maybe someone can see them, but it'd be from a distance. And Megumi's hair is sorta shortish.]

This is okay, right?

This is fine. *Hikaru smiles, resting her head against Megumi's, giving her girlfriend's hand a squeeze. Actually, she really does want to do more . . . but she gets why Megumi's asking. As they move a bit higher--out of sight of anyone on the ground--she gives a quick glance around before turning to lay a kiss on the top of Megumi's head.*

[And they move a bit higher, so Megumi responds by. You know, kissing her on the lips and all. It's a quick peck, but still. They're high enough up now that the only people who can even see them are the other cars - and who'd be looking down in a ferris wheel? She shoots a glance at the car below them, out the window, and it looks like they're busy... doing basically the same thing her and Hikaru are doing.]

Haha... at this rate, I don't think we're going to notice the view. [Hikaru's so... well, cute, for one. And as noted earlier, she wants to make sure she enjoys the date. So she leans in to kiss her again, pulling away before too long - mostly to keep herself from doing anything too stupid...

And then she looks down at that other car, again, and suddenly notices something.]

... I think that guy just gave me a thumbs-up.

The view in here is way better. ♥ *Hikaru kisses back--though, yeah, also trying her best to keep it a little restrained, given the circumstances. It's all too easy to conjure up visions of them getting a bit too into it, to the point where they're still kissing when the ride's over.*

*And then Megumi mentions the other car, and . . . sigh.* . . . They seriously need to make these cars with curtains or something.

I think that'd kinda ruin the point. [At least the thumbs-up thing is better than a lot of other possibilities. She lets it go and kisses Hikaru on the cheek again, stroking her hair as she does.]

I just wish that we could . . . you know, get away with it. Getting all snuggly without anyone else minding or paying attention.

Well... Ogachin said she was open about it when she lived in London, and she didn't have much trouble... [What was it she had said, again? And wow, she never thought Ogachin's advice would actually be useful.]

She said where you are makes a lot of difference. So, we should move to London!

*This might normally be where someone would shoot that idea down as silly, or at least as wishful thinking, but Hikaru just grins a little.*

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I'd hadn't thought about it. The stories she's told me make it sound so amazing . . .

That'll probably have to wait until we're a little bit older, though. [The thought that her and Hikaru might have broken up by then never even enters Megumi's mind. They're them, after all. Them dating might be a relatively recent thing, but she can't imagine spending her life with anyone else.

Uh, how's your English, by the way? Mine's kinda... [Yeah.]

*Hikaru's on the exact same page here. With the wonderful certainty that being a teenager brings, she just knows they'll still be together when the time to be thinking about things like that comes around!*

Haha, yeah. But it's fun to think about, right? And, well, my English grades are awesome, but I kinda wonder if I'd be able to hold up a conversation . . .

I wish I had something romantic to say, now that we're up here. [But with all that talk of marriage, she thinks Hikaru gets the idea... and they're already starting to move back down. Geez, they pretty much missed out on the view, didn't they?]

[Oh, hey, kisses! Megumi likes kisses. She pulls away for a second then kisses back, tangling her hand in Hikaru's hair.

They're... kind of getting close to the ground, and more importantly the line, but Megumi has literally forgotten how to care.

... At least until she thinks she sees a couple of people pointing, out of the corner of her eye, and then she breaks the kiss off. Okay she might have gotten carried away there.]

... Yeah, I'd say that worked. [At least she didn't notice thumbs-up guy.]

*Yeah it's a good thing she notices, because Hikaru might not have at that point, oops! She's about to go in for another when she realizes why Megumi pulled back.*

She just sort of scratches at the back of her neck and finally, sadly untangles her fingers from Hikaru's hair as they're let off the ferris wheel. Once they've taken a few steps away from it...]

There's, well, there's people wandering by but since there isn't a line or anything most people have better things to do than focus on them. So she places her other hand over Hikaru's.]

Yeah . . . yeah. Um. It really took a lot effort not to kiss you after saying that, so . . . yeah. *She lets go, though with some obvious reluctance.* I-I probably should've thought that through a little better . . .

[She looks around... again, nobody's really paying them any attention, are they? And there's kind of a lull in foot traffic, so...

She darts in for a very quick kiss, then pulls away and does her best to act like nothing out of the ordinary happened.]

... You're way too pretty. It's kind of unfair. [And then she practically drags Hikaru into the room and shuts the door behind them.]

*Hikaru slips her arms around Megumi the second the door's closed behind them. She's still nervous--she's sure Megumi can hear her heart pounding--but it's starting to be a good nervous, at least a little. Being alone with Megumi like this feels nice. It feels right.*

[I pity the poor fool who tries to hit on them. Franziska's shed her prosecutor outfit in favour of a dark turquoise sheathe dress, but her trusty whip is discretely coiled away in her oversized clutch -- easily accessible, just the way she liked it.]

[Irene enjoys charity events; she finds them entertainingly self-congratulatory. Normally, they aren't what she'd call first date material, but she's killing two birds with one stone. And anyway—any excuse to dress up. Tonight, she's opted for black velvet, high necked and long-sleeved, clinging to her. She isn't carrying any whip, cane, crop or flogger, but they're all just a come back to my place away.]

Confession time.

[She snags two champagne flutes from a passing waiter, holding one out to Franziska with a wry grin.]

I like lawyers far too much. I think it's something about people who can use a word to decide someone's fate. I always have to ask myself—what sort of person decides that's what they want to do with their life?

[She's sips her champagne, eyes glinting.]

[ Man, as much as Bolin loved his brother, and Asami, when all of them were hangin' out together it could get kinda exhausting. There was always some drama, like saving Republic City, or Mako being stupid about girls (really, bro, and you tried to give Bolin advice) or something equally as mood-killer that dropped on them. Not that they didn't have fun! But sometimes you needed a little one-on-one time with your pals. Bolin was an affectionate dude and he needed to express it.

So he was pretty stoked that his #1 Best Gal Pal had agreed to come out with him tonight. The last time he'd invited Korra out to a restaurant with him hadn't ended well...but the beginning and the middle, that was solid. They'd had a ball. Bolin saw no reason why they couldn't do that part again, and skip the bad ending for something way more fun. He had a Cunning Plan. Pabu knew his cue and had the act down pat. It was flawless.

That was for later, though. Now all that was left for his main actress to arrive and the party could begin! ]

[ Outside of anything that involved going fisticuffs, Korra had all the finesse and subtly of a moose lion in a china shop. (Or noodle shop. Semantics.) Naga shook the rickety old bamboo doors in prelude to Korra's larger than life presence. She near ripped the doors off their sliding hinges while trying to corral Naga away from trying to poke her head inside.

A shouting natch with an understandably harried noodle shop owner later. Naga was skulking off to wait under a nearby window and Korra was calling for Bolin before she trotted over to their usual table. Two times surely qualified for a "usual spot," really. ]

You eat more Water Tribe grub than I do, Bolin. [ She was all smile and blissful unawareness as she kicked back her chair and fell into it; already with her elbows on the table. ]

[ Oh, Korra, you're the best girl ever. Bolin knew how to use manners, but wan't this way more comfortable? Yeah. Definitely the coolest Avatar he'd ever known (sorry Aang!).

He waved the waiter over enthusiastically and ordered them a round of drinks while they decided just how much of the menu they wanted demolish tonight. ]

No occasion! Just a good-old-fashioned good-old-time. Mako's got work tonight and I was so lonely I thought I'd call for some Avatar assistance. And you were free! The universe is truly amazing sometimes, huh? [ He grinned, giving her a friendly elbow. ] Besides, there's still heaps of suuuper-cool stuff around the city I want you to see.

[ Wiggling his eyebrows with a fluidity that ought to have been a waterbending move, Bolin dropped his voice and reached out for a deal-sealing high-five. ] You game?

[ Korra threw her head back and laughed less at Bolin's genuine, but still goofball way of making good of what would otherwise have been another boring night without practice to fill it. Life had been brought to a snail's crawl and that didn't mesh with Korra's insatiable need to not sit still. Ever. ]

Here I am! Fulfilling my duty as the Avatar; about to belch my way to peace an balance in a noodle shop.

[ She planned to make good on that promise when their drinks game and she threw back the first bubbly thing that slid her way. She slammed her glass down with a grin somewhere between tickled pink and shit eating. ]

[ A challenge was a challenge, no matter how ridiculous: Bolin followed suit and signalled for more drinks even as he let out a well-practised belch. It was rolling and almost melodic, with admirable duration and a pleasing flourish for the finale. He leaned on the counter smugly. ]

Think you can beat that, Korra? Yeah; I call it the Bolin Fanfare. It's just a little something I've been workin' on.

[ The peal of laughter punctured by the odd gut-shaking belch dominated the sounds of chatting restaurant goers. Korra was clutching her sides when she was literally out of gas by the time their food arrived. Forgoing her instinct to just dig in, she attempted conversation. ]

So, where we goin'? Don't tell me it's a surprise.

Not really a surprise, but it's just easier to see it in person. I figured you might appreciate some scenic spots. And there's a place that's great for earthbending I think you'll really like! If you bounce rocks right, you can play tunes. True story. I wouldn't lie to you.

[ Don't worry about the smalltalk, girl; he was just as hungry as she. It wasn't as if either of them were slow eaters, either. ]

I trust you, Sifu Bolin.

[ Said graciously through a mouthful of noodles, but the sentiment was all there in her enthusiasm. Outside the compound she hadn't met a better earthbending partner than Bolin. Spirits knew Beifong put earthbending and fun together like oil and water. ]

[ S-S-S-SIFU...aww, shucks!! Bolin couldn't help his dainty blush. Sifu Bolin had kind of a nice ring to it.

Truthfully though, he had more planned for tonight than just some casual hangin' out. There was something he needed to tell Korra - needed her to understand - and he hadn't done that yet. Not properly. Bolin was pretty sure she got the gist, anyway, but that wasn't the point. The point was that he clear the air and lay it all out in front of her. That was the only way it would be right.

So he toured her about some of his favourite parts of the city: here, where he and Mako had lived with their parents before they were orphaned; here, the best view of the city at night; here, his favourite spot just outside the city limits to practice bending. It was creeping well towards morning by the time they were too exhausted to go much further, and he figured that it was Time.

The two of them collapsed companionably in the park, winded from a busy evening with a lot of dashing about and a lot of laughing. Bolin felt lighter and freer than he had in recent memory. It was perfect. Heck, she was perfect. Yeahhh. What a gal. ]

...Say, Korra?

[ He got to his feet, feeling more than a little bashful as he fumbled through his pocket for something. He hadn't really practised what he was going to say; something like this had to come straight from the heart! Hearts were way more eloquent than brains. ]

I...well, there's something I wanna sive to you. [ WAIT. ] --GIVE. I mean give to you. And say. Say-give...sive. Yeah. Anyway!!

[ Bolin cleared his throat, looking at her expectantly, and wondering if she was about to freak out. To be honest, he kinda hoped she was. He was sort of setting her up that way, after all. ]

[ Korra remained non the wise as they trawled through the city streets together, and with the occasionally inclusion of Naga. It wasn't until their polar bear dog escort got tired and hungry that they were hoofing it, alone save for one another.

As she did with everything, she took in every sight as it came to her before moving on to the next one with renewed enthusiasm each time. Nothing fell into repetition, or boredom. It wasn't until they were half-dead on their feet and sitting languid in the park that Korra was less a leaf in the wind and more a rock flat on the ground. ]

Give me? [ That got Korra's attention, and her confusion. She hopping to her feet with a regained jolt of energy. ]

Bolin, I thought you said there would be no surprises. C'mon what's this all about, Sifu?

[ Okay. Okay. This was It. You've got this, Bo! He was way too good-looking to be this flustered.

Bolin's fingers closed around something in his pocket and withdrew it: a bell. He rang it three times, very distinctly. After all the training they'd put in over the past week, Pabu responded perfectly. Bolin hadn't chosen this resting spot by chance, nope! The fire ferret chittered and ducked into the undergrowth, returning with a small box dangling by a pretty blue ribbon. A ring box, in fact.

Bolin sank to one knee in front of the Avatar, face serious, hand over his heart. Pabu stood on his hind legs to offer Korra the box. ]

Korra, I...well, we haven't really known each other all that long, but it already feels like forever. In a good way!! It's hard to imagine life without you around. And you're funny, and smart, and beautiful, and totally kick-ass, and...I guess I just want to say that I admire you a lot. [ Aww geez, he was blushing again. ] A-anyway, you're super great. I guess you probably know that already, but sometimes it's important for other people to tell you that. Sometimes it must be hard being the Avatar, with all the responsibility and stuff, and I know you get confused sometimes too. But you're doing a great job!! Seriously.

[ Gosh, he was getting all emotional; any minute now he'd turn on the waterworks and then where would his speech go? Bolin cleared his throat and reached to open the box. ]

I guess what I'm really saying is...Korra, you're awesome, and I love you a lot. And I'd be really honoured if you'd accept this token of my feelings as a promise that no matter what, we'll always be bros. Best bros.

[ DID YOU THINK IT WAS GONNA BE A RING, KORRA? 'CAUSE IT AIN'T. Nestled in the box, looped into the shape of a heart, was...a handmade friendship bracelet. ]

[You know, the last thing Kirino expected was to actually get a date with Tsurugi. And yet, here they are at an ice-skating rink. Kirino's visited a few times before, so he's no beginner at ice-skating. He's actually pretty comfortable as he laces up his skates, pulls off the guards, and then finally stands, waiting.]

Have you done this sort of thing before?

I have, actually. Just not recently.

[There were a lot of family outings when he was a child and ice skating was one of the things they did. Obviously they stopped after a certain time but Tsurugi doesn't think he's forgotten how to skate.

He glances over at Kirino.]

Are you ready, then?

Mhm. Let's go! [He's already making his way towards the rink, actually, but he pauses just before he actually steps onto the ice.]

[Tsurugi on the other hand, doesn't. He steps on the ice and pushes off. When he notices that Kirino didn't follow, he circles back. When he's at the rink entrance again, he holds out a hand towards the other boy wordlessly.]

[--Well. He was waiting for Tsurugi, but that works, too. He puts his hand in Tsurugi's before finally stepping onto the ice.

He doesn't necessarily need the hand, but that's all right. Tsurugi's getting a smile anyway, at least.]

[It doesn't matter if he doesn't need it or not but Tsurgi keeps hold of it anyway. From the way he holds Kirino's hand though, it's less of giving the boy support but just... well, holding it.

In any case, he starts to lead them around the rink.]

[Kirino's more than happy to allow himself to be led around, and hums to himself as he and Tsurugi skate around.

[Tsurugi thinks it's nice too but now he feels a little awkward about it. Is this too forward of him?

[Kirino looks over to see Tsurugi glancing at him and gives what's hopefully a reassuring smile. He squeezes Tsurugi's hand a bit for emphasis.]

[Wow, Reiza almost doesn't know what she wants to do first. Games over one way, cool-looking rides off in other directions, and not to mention, the food... It's almost a little overwhelming. Maybe Einam should just pick where to go first.]

[That is definitely not a problem because Einam has a very good idea what he wants to do. In fact, he's already dragging Reiza towards a roller coaster with lots of loops.]

Let's go there first.

Oh, all right. [She can walk on her own, Einam!

... but she'll just let herself be dragged anyway. Somehow, she's not surprised that's where Einam wants to go.]
