THE DATE MEME

Here's how it works!

1. Comment to this post with your character. List the character's name, series, and any preferences you might have in the subject.

3. The two of you are now on a date! The first list is where you took your date. The second list is your current relationship.

Locations

1. Restaurant. What better way to spend some romantic time than over food? Maybe you're at the fancy restaurant in town, or maybe you just couldn't afford anything nice, so you're at the nearest diner. Or maybe somewhere in between?

2. Games. The two of you are playing a game somewhere! You could be at a bowling alley, an arcade, a miniature golf course...the possibilities here are countless.

3. The Park. Of course, Mother Nature can provide an excellent atmosphere for romantic bonding! Perhaps you're taking a leisurely stroll through the lush grounds, or maybe you've laid out a blanket somewhere so the two of you could have a picnic.

4. Movie Theater. Or maybe the two of you are sitting next to each other in a dark room, sharing a bucket of popcorn while you're watching the latest film. Did you opt for a horror flick to keep your significant other latched to your arm -- or for you to latch to theirs -- or perhaps something they enjoy, like a sappy romance film or a cheesy action flick? Or maybe you compromised and went to see a sweet romantic comedy.

5. Skating. It's always nice to go skating, right? Are you at a roller skating rink, or did you find a frozen lake and decide to go ice skating? Which one of you needs help (you know at least one of you does)?

6. Beach. Ahh, the beach! Go ahead and set up camp wherever you like! Or if you don't watn to lay down and catch a tan, you can go swimming, or take a walk along the shore! Or if you don't want getting sand on your feet or in your shoes, go hit up the boardwalk!

7. Sunday Drive. Sometimes you don't really have a destination in mind. Sometimes you just want to drive and enjoy the scenery. Well, here's your chance to do that!

8. Amusement Park. There's plenty to do here! Take your date on the Ferris wheel, or the tunnel of love...or something more thrilling, like a roller coaster! Walk around with cotton candy!

9. Dance/Ball. School dance? Prom? Business gala? Whatever it is, you're there, and you've got a date.

10. Wild Card. Your choice! Feel free to pick something that's not here.

Relationships

1. Blind Date. You had no idea who you were going out with until you arrived! Was it a complete stranger, or did it turn out to be someone you knew?

2. First Date. You finally worked up the courage to ask this person out, and they agreed! How awkward is this going to end up?

3. Steady. You guys have been going out for a while. This is just another one of many dates.

4. Proposing. This isn't just any date for you. You've brought your significant other out somewhere to propose to them! Make sure to warm them up for the main event!

5. Married. You're not just dating, you're a married couple! Whether this is a special occasion or you just decided to break from your everyday life, the two of you are using this as an opportunity to remind each other just how much you love one another.

Well... haha, I don't even have good grades in English. [And she makes a little pouty face, like 'why WON'T you be my translator?]

Yeah! It's even legal for two men or two women to get married in some places in America and Europe.

Hey, when you say it like that, it's almost like you're planning something... c'mon, we should at least wait until we've graduated.[She's teasing, of course, but the thought of actually getting married to Hikaru... yeah okay she's blushing. A lot.]

I-I just meant it as an example of openness, okay . . . ! *But yeah, she's blushing a lot too, kyaa ////*

Isn't denying it so quickly kinda suspicious? [Seriously, though. They haven't moved much from where they were when they were kissing, so it's pretty easy for her to lean over and rest her head on Hikaru's shoulder.]

Isn't jumping to the conclusion that that's what I meant even more suspicious? *Leans her head against Megumi's*

I guess we're both suspicious, then... [Oh hey, she can reach out to run her hand through Hikaru's hair.]

But for what it's worth, I think it'd work better if you whisked me away.

I dunno if I could pull that kind of look off as well as I used to, but . . . haha, I just pictured carrying you over the threshold in a wedding dress . . . it was a pretty nice mental image.

[Oh, now she's thinking about it too...]

... Yeah, it was. [She strokes Hikaru's hair some more.] And I think you'd have to chop some of this off if you wanted to look like you did back then. [... But it's kind of nice the way it is now. She just sorta keeps stroking it.] You'd have to... cut this...

Uhm, maybe I can wear the tux after all.

*A-Ah that's nice. Yeah there'd be less for Megumi to pet if she cut it, and right now Hikaru can't help but think that'd be a true tragedy.*

Or we could both do dresses. Though I don't think I'd mind seeing you in a tux either.

Both do dresses... you know, I never thought of that. [It's like... well they're obviously both girls! But maybe she's still kinda stuck in that 'one of us has to be the guy right' frame of mind.]

Well, it's fun, right? I mean... there's no harm in thinking about it, and... [And it's nice to know that they can do it. It isn't some far-off dream or anything, they could just move somewhere and get married. It's completely inside the realm of possibility.]

Haha, I know what you mean. It's like . . . kinda expected, right? But I don't see why we've gotta stick to that.

. . . And it could happen someday, so . . . *Yeah, she's on the same page there: the fact that it's a possibility at all is an amazing thought.*

Yeah... we could even both do tuxes, if we wanted to! It'd be our wedding, right... [She trails off, glancing out of the ferris wheel's window. It's a nice view, and it only now occurs to her that they've reached the top.]

I guess we got kinda distracted, huh? [She leans in closer, kissing Hikaru on the cheek. Again.]

I wish I had something romantic to say, now that we're up here. [But with all that talk of marriage, she thinks Hikaru gets the idea... and they're already starting to move back down. Geez, they pretty much missed out on the view, didn't they?]

Haha, we really did . . . oops.

Well, I can't think of anything either, so how about this? *GOING FOR ANOTHER KISS. Because fuck it, making the most of this ride while it lasts!!*

[Oh, hey, kisses! Megumi likes kisses. She pulls away for a second then kisses back, tangling her hand in Hikaru's hair.

They're... kind of getting close to the ground, and more importantly the line, but Megumi has literally forgotten how to care.

... At least until she thinks she sees a couple of people pointing, out of the corner of her eye, and then she breaks the kiss off. Okay she might have gotten carried away there.]

... Yeah, I'd say that worked. [At least she didn't notice thumbs-up guy.]

*Yeah it's a good thing she notices, because Hikaru might not have at that point, oops! She's about to go in for another when she realizes why Megumi pulled back.*

Next time, okay, next time we'll pay attention to the view.

I guess being able to say things like that means we're close?

[That doesn't change the fact that she's kind of embarrassed by it. And not in the way she's usually embarrassed. She just sort of scratches at the back of her neck and finally, sadly untangles her fingers from Hikaru's hair as they're let off the ferris wheel. Once they've taken a few steps away from it...]

I still feel like a dork. What should we do now? [To distract herself from the fact that she just said that. And the sudden realization that Hikaru just basically returned the sentiment.]

I'm not sure there's anything we can do to stop making you feel like a dork . . . *She lets that one hang there for a second, but continues before Megumi can say anything.* . . . But c'mon, you shouldn't feel weird for saying stuff like that. Here, watch, I'll one-up you.

*Hikaru takes one of Megumi's hands and declares--well, okay, maybe she doesn't say it as loudly as "declares" would imply, but still:*

I love you, Megumi, with all my heart.

*She tries to say that kinda cool, but instead ends up blushing and grinning like an idiot.*

[And instead of... you know, laughing it off, or something, she just winds up blushing and looking away. If she said that, it'd definitely be cheesy, but Hikaru saying it makes her heart all fluttery. D-doki.]

That's... I don't think you're any good at that... [Acting like a dork, she means. Even with the blush and the grin, Megumi finds herself at a loss for words. There's, well, there's people wandering by but since there isn't a line or anything most people have better things to do than focus on them. So she places her other hand over Hikaru's.]

I love you too... so please let go. I'm gonna explode if this keeps up.

Yeah . . . yeah. Um. It really took a lot effort not to kiss you after saying that, so . . . yeah. *She lets go, though with some obvious reluctance.* I-I probably should've thought that through a little better . . .

[She looks around... again, nobody's really paying them any attention, are they? And there's kind of a lull in foot traffic, so...

She darts in for a very quick kiss, then pulls away and does her best to act like nothing out of the ordinary happened.]

It's fine. I, uh... feel better now. Thanks. [Well, she does. Just probably not for the reason Hikaru was going for.]
