The nice job Clear did of making the bed earlier is all undone, all the corners untucked like they never were, just a perfect cylinder with Aoba in the middle of it. Everyone deserves a nice midday nap. There’s nothing Aoba has to be up for. But…look at him. Eventually being huddled in a crouch at the side of Aoba’s bed and observing this phenomenon just isn’t enough. Gladio usually ran warm, at least warmer than Ignis. Perhaps it was his intense physical activity, or simply the way it was.

So when Ignis came into the tent to find him tightly wrapped not only in his own bedroll, but with another one pulled up on top of it, he frowned. Noctis and Prompto were down by the water. Fishing, probably. And Ignis had come in to wake Gladio up for breakfast, but now he hesitated.

Crouched down by the pile on the tent floor.

It had been a routine visit to one of the provinces, hours and hours drive away from Insomnia, and he'd thought taking Noctis with him would be a good idea, they never got to spend enough time in each other's company, anyway.

The drive had been pleasant enough, looking at sights neither of them knew (Noct not at all, Regis not well enough), pointing out curiosities, strange-looking buildings, the color the large lake they drove past. The majesty of some of the birds gliding in the sky.

However, nobody could have predicted the bitter chill that met them at the usually balmy destination. The spicy dinner had helped warm them up briefly, but when bedtime came, Regis was worried.

[ While the winter season wasn't all that harsh in Elysia, Sorey and Mikleo still did what they could to keep themselves warm -- well, namely Mikleo tried to do what he could to help keep him warm, but Sorey had taken the initiative this time.
