SLAVES

1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.

2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.

3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.

4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.

5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.

6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.

7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.

MASTERS

1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.

2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.

3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.

4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.

5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?

6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.

7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.

Derek would end up keeping the new pet on severe lock down for the first few weeks at least. He'd stay in one room and one room only. He knew he wouldn't be able to trust Stiles with anything if this is how he was going to act before he even got him home.

When they got in the car Derek opened the passenger door for him, pulling out a set of leather cuffs. "Get in and put your seatbelt on."

"Oooo look at me. I get to sit in the passenger seat and everything?" Stiles mocked as he watched Derek pull out a pair of leather cuffs. He did how ever roll his eyes. Like he would make the mistake of trying to run right then and there. He had done that once and it hadn't ended well for him.

Stiles did get into the car and with a put upon sigh he did up his seatbelt. He raised an eyebrow and looked at Derek. "Happy?"

Derek waited patiently for Stiles to get situated, his eyes never leaving Stiles. This pet, even though he was going to be hard to deal with, was going to be a wise investment. If he didn't get too attached. And he'd have to make sure that his Uncle didn't get a hold of him either. Peter had a thing for 'the pretty ones' as he called them.

Yes, Stiles was beautiful but Derek knew that all Peter would have done was beat him and break him until he was useless. He slowly took a breath and counted to 5, staying calm as Stiles ran his mouth. "Ecstatic. Wrists, now," he ordered, holding out an open cuff.

"Why? So I can't make a suicidal jump out of the car when you're driving?" Stiles asked but he put his hands out so Derek could put the leather restraints on. Stiles would pick and choose his battles to fight Derek on and this wasn't one of them. Being put in restraints wasn't a big thing. Stiles had lived most of his life in them.

"So you can't make a run for it at a stop light," Derek says as he buckles the cuffs around each wrist, attaching the links between the cuffs to an anchor on the dashboard. He figured that Stiles was used to cuffs. He was probably used to metal ones too. But Derek wouldn't put him in metal ones yet. Those were used for much larger offenses than calling Derek an asshole.

"Been there. Done that. Helpful assholes took me down before I could get to far away," Stiles said honestly and with a sigh. He leaned back in his seat, hands out front of him. He pulled and jingled the restraints. They were solid restraints, nothing he would be able to break easily. His new master wasn't playing around.

"How am I suppose to give you a hand job like this?"

"And that's why you're being handcuffed to the car," Derek says with a quick flash of a smile. He closes the door and slips into the front seat of his Camaro.

Derek sighs as he starts the engine and pulls away from the auction house, heading back to his house. "You're not. That part of your training will wait till later."

"You didn't buy me as a pleasure slave?" Stiles asked with a frown as he looked over at Derek. This was a first. All of his previous masters had bought him for one sole reason which is why Stiles had tried to run so often, why he acted out so much.

His frowned deepened. "Then why did you buy me?"

Derek took a breath, wondering how he was going to explain it. He never really had to before, at least not to a slave. "My family are trainers. We take unruly slaves, train them better, break them if we need to," he says after clearing his throat.

He glances over to the pet next to him. "We train them better than they were before and sell them for a profit." But Stiles... Stiles was different than the last 4 slaves Derek had trained. This one had a fire inside him that he hadn't seen before in a slave. "However... I might have to keep you for myself."

Stiles laughed. He threw his head back and laughed at Derek's words. "You think you're going to train me? Break me? Right," Stiles said with a snort and a mocking grin on his lips. "You won't be the first person to tell me that and then give up. You'll give up before I break." Stiles sounded smug and he felt it too. He had broken four other masters and he planned on breaking Derek.

"You're not threatened by that idea... Most slaves clam up by this point, offer sexual favors, offer their own lives. They don't want to be owned by a Hale. Mostly that's because of my Uncle though. He nearly kills all his pets," Derek says softly, eyes still on the road.

Stiles did go still at the mention of 'Hale'. Oh shit. Even Stiles had heard about the Hales and how well they do with horrible slaves. But Derek also mentioned an Uncle that nearly kills his pets. That had to be Peter Hale which meant the person driving the car wasn't Peter. Maybe lady luck hadn't left him completely.

Not wanting Derek to know just how much it was effecting to know that he had been bought by a Hale he snorted. "You'll find out quickly that I'm not most slaves. I thought me calling you an asshole not once but twice in public no less would have shown that but I guess not. I'll have to step it up."

It didn't matter if Stiles went still or didn't react at all, Derek could still smell the fear and then relief on Stiles. "Oh no. I know you're not like most slaves. Most have two extremes. They either scream themselves hoarse or they go silent. You're just talking like you're my equal," Derek says with a smile. "It's refreshing."

"Because I am your equal," Stiles stated and he believed it. It was one of the many reasons why he hadn't been broken by previous masters because he didn't believe in the slavery that the world was based on. He was a person and just because he was born into slavery doesn't mean he was a slave.

"Are you," the werewolf asked with a chuckle, dragging his eyes off the road to look over at him.

"Please, explain." Because Derek needed to hear this. So far he was counting this as a good purchase. The pet wasn't trying to kill him. Yet at least.

Oh give Stiles the chance and he just might try for Derek's life. That would definitely be one way to get away.

"I'm human. You're... well you're a werewolf," Stiles said with a snort. "But my other masters were all humans. Just because I was born a slave doesn't make me one. Maybe werewolves should be the slaves of the world. There are less of you than humans right?"

Derek's last slave tried to kill him in his sleep. So even if Stiles did try it wouldn't shock him. He was expecting it.

"There are less of us, yes. But we're not anyone's slaves. They couldn't keep us. We're stronger, faster, unpredictable. We can smell your emotions. We can hear your heartbeats. Know when you're lying. When you're nervous. Find your weaknesses. No humans would be able to hold us as slaves," he explains. "It's a fun world to think about though."

"Bullshit. I'll have you eating out of the palm of my hands in no time," Stiles said sounding more smug then he felt as he looked at Derek. "Then I'll walk right out the door and be gone."

Derek couldn't help but laugh out loud. This one was funny. "You've got some sense of humor, Stiles, I'll give you that."

Thankfully the auction house wasn't too far from his own. Derek turned down a side road and into the forest, driving down a dirt path to the get to the house that was far too large for just him. The rest of his family lived on the other side of the preserve. He liked living close to his pack but liked the privacy his own house gave him.

Stiles had paid attention while they talked of exactly where they were going. As the drove closer to a rather large house, Stiles leaned forward in his seat to get a better view of it. He scowled softly because it was quiet a big house which probably meant a lot of people.

"So how many live here exactly?"

"Currently? Just you and I," he answered. "The rest of my family lives on the other side of the woods."

Derek pulled up to back of the home and into the garage. Shutting off the car, the werewolf sat back in his seat. "Rules. You do not leave the house unless I give you specific permission. Which will not be until you earn my trust. And I'm going to assume with how you speak and act it won't be for some time. In fact, I don't see you leaving your room for quite some time either," he begins.

"If I give you an order, I expect it done quickly and efficiently. You will obey or you will be punished. Do you understand," he asks, looking over to Stiles for confirmation.

Stiles snorted from where he sat and didn't say anything. He was silently defying Derek because he had to make it clear that Derek wasn't in charge. Stiles was in charge. Derek would definitely regret buying him if he thought he would just bend over and take it without a fight.

The Master was going to have none of this. Derek's eyes flashed blue for a moment before he reached and grabbed Stiles' collared throat hard, claws elongating to dig into the soft flesh. "Don't make this harder on yourself that it's already going to be," he warns.

Stiles' eyes go wide and a flash of fear fills him when he sees the bright blue and the claws digging into the soft flesh of his neck. He wanted to swallow but didn't dare because he was pretty sure it would cause the nails to cut him.

"Why do your eyes go blue?" Of everything he could have said, of course Stiles just went with the first thing that popped into his head. The boy had no filter.

Derek chose to ignore the question and focus on the task at hand. "Do you understand the rules I've explained to you," he asks, claws still digging into the boy's throat.

The story of how his eyes turned from that beautiful gold to the piercing icy blue was something that he hated to think about, let alone tell. He wasn't about to spill his history and emotional past to a recently purchased slave. He didn't even talk about it with his family. Only his mother and uncle knew the truth.
