SLAVES
1. The Newbie - This is your very first auction and you don't quite know what to expect. Hopefully you remember your training and don't disgrace yourself in front of your new master. Hopefully someone thinks you're worth buying at all.
2. The Oldtimer - You've been bought and sold and bought again so many times. You've seen it all before and don't think this time is going to be much different. In fact, the only real anxiety you've got is whether or not someone's going to pay for a more than slightly used slave.
3. The Pet - You're a pleasure slave. A bed warmer. A decorative piece of artwork. You're meant to look pretty and be pleasing and not much else.
4. The Guard - Your master hired you because of your ability to swing a sword or shoot a gun, not your looks.
5. The Escape Artist - Somehow you always manage to squirm out of your master's chains. Too bad you seem to get caught after a while. Maybe your next daring escape will be permanent. Then again, maybe your next master has special ways of keeping you locked up.
6. The Undercover - You aren't a slave at all, you're just pretending to be one. Why? Well that's up to you. Either way, your cover is blown if you don't act the part.
7. The Specialist - You have a skill that no one else has. Something rare and valuable. Something your master needs more than anything else.
MASTERS
1. The Customer - You've owned slaves before and this trip to the market is nothing new to you. Still, you're hoping to find something worth your while.
2. The Gift - Someone bought a pet for you, isn't that nice of them? Or maybe it isn't so nice. Did you even want a slave in the first place? Well you're stuck with one now.
3. The Giver - You're selecting a slave for someone else, and they need to be perfect. Perhaps you'd better test them out first to make sure you're getting your money's worth.
4. The Trainer - You specialize in taming unruly slaves and making them over into perfect, obedient, well-trained pets.
5. The Rebel - You hate the idea of slavery, but the system isn't going to go away any time soon, so the next best thing is to buy up any slave you can get your hands on and free them, right?
6. The Companion - You want someone to be with you always, someone you can talk to and depend on, someone who will never leave your side. It's a good thing that money can buy that these days.
7. The Undercover - You're not actually a Master. You're at the auction for an entirely different reason. Maybe it's special policework, maybe you're trying to hunt down a certain someone. Either way, your cover is blown unless you act the part.
As always, feel free to use a combination of scenarios or make up your own if you have other ideas.
Snagged from here.

would you prefer for his legs just the knees down are deer-like or from the thigh down?
While his tone didn't betray it, part of him was a little hurt that his new master wasn't giving him much of any attention. But it was just built into being what he was. He already could tell the man was extremely busy and his sudden burden of a pet was definitely not within the parameters of his schedule any time soon. If ever.
Vincent wanted to ask if perhaps they could go shopping for clothes together later. But dismissed the thought as soon as it popped into his head. Hanzo would not have such time on his hands.
After the man left, Vincent had himself a another half cup of coffee to help keep himself warm more than anything else, wandering the office again. He had a closer look at things, not touching, not wishing to ruin or put anything out of its place.
A sense of utter loneliness crept into him and he found himself glancing at the door, thinking perhaps he ought to go find Hanzo, stick by him, even just beside his chair at the meeting.
No. Stay here, that was best. No need to wander the chilly judging halls of the building for a master who didn't want you.
He settled on the couch again, finished his drink and went back to his snooze.
I was thinking like his entire hip/thigh area down would be deer-like, like a satyr?
On the tray was a bottle of apple juice, a hot sandwich, and a bag of chips. "It's just from the cater bar in the cafeteria, but... It's pretty good."
He smiled nervously at Vincent. It was not that Vincent was a Pet, but that Vincent was his boss's Pet. And a deer, which was pretty unusual by itself. "I'm James."
ok!
"Thank you." he said with a small smile.
The other's friendly but nervous attitude was apparent but Vincent tried not to acknowledge it. Instead, he settled on the floor again and took up the hot sandwich. It was indeed quite good. Many petpersons adhered to a strict diet but Vincent had been raised on a varied one so while deer were vegetarians, he didn't require it.
As he ate, Vincent decided to ask the man a few questions, though was polite and didn't talk with his mouth full.
"Is Master Hanzo always this busy?" he asked. He didn't expect a different answer than the assumed one, but he wanted to make a little conversation. Though it wasn't until after he said it that he addressed Hanzo as his master for the first time. He was, legally and all he supposed. Still, strange to hear it from himself.

James watched Vincent eat, glad that he wasn't fussy and demanding. A bit of research had told him to never (never!!) feed deer Pets meat, but other sources had said it was alright, so long as the Pet was used to it, and all the salads had looked rather sad - the best already picked over - so it had been a ham and cheese sandwich. "He'll be in the office until late tonight, but at least you being here means he has to go home tonight, so that's alright, I guess. But he won't need me the rest of the day, so we can stay out as long as we need to, to get you clothing and things."
James pulled his phone out of his pocket and started tapping away at it. "He said whatever you need and gave me his credit card, so... not just clothing, I guess."
no subject
Anger and sadness filled him. You weren't supposed to buy pets for a person in mourning. Impulse buys never worked out well, and Hanzo was already not in a position to be caring for one anyway. But also, he could relate a little to his new master. Losing someone close and then suddenly being burdened unexpectedly, only in his case it was his mistress, unknown to all but the facility.
He picked at his sandwich, not as hungry anymore, but would feel guilty if he didn't at least eat half of it so he did his best, washing it down with juice.
What was he to do? He supposed...the best option would be to just be beside Hanzo as much as possible during these hard times.
"What...what else do I need?" he asked, trying to take his mind off this news and on what they'd need to get, apart from decent clothing. He tugged at the bow and then removed it. No need to look like a present anymore, he'd already been gifted.
no subject
James automatically reached out to take the remains of the bow and wrapped it around his hand. "This is... kind of gross," he said, looking down at the ribbon. "Putting a bow on you, I mean. Hanzo's... a pretty good man. He can be a bit distant sometimes, and he doesn't smile much, but he'll treat you well. You won't be missing anything with him owning you.
"I've been working for him for five years now, so I mean... it's not like I'm his boyfriend, but I feel like I know him pretty well."
no subject
He didn't have much in the way of antlers otherwise he'd say a scratching post. Maybe next year when he wasn't so stressed out he'd get a more decent pair, for now though, he had maybe an inch more before they started to shed. For now, a rough brush for them would be enough.
A less potent soap would be nice, the stuff they used at the facility was usually very overpowering. Maybe he'd see something while they were out.
But apart from the brushes and soaps, clothes were the most dire on the list.

He headed off in that direction, leaving Vincent alone for just a bit outside Hanzo's office.

So he put it back and pulled on Hanzo's, which was longer, coming down to a couple inches above his fuzzy knees. Much better. And warm again!
As he waited for James to return, he took in the scent of his new master still clinging to the coat. Strange to him, but he knew in little time he'd come to recognize it. Once James returned, Vincent followed close beside him as they headed down to the car. His hooves clipped nosily on the floor but there wan't much to be done about it except do his best to avoid scuffing or scratching it.
Might need to add socks to the list if Hanzo's apartment wasn't mostly carpeted.

Petpeople were not perfect, they may possess a lot of animal qualities but the human in them was also there. Half of him was always fine no matter the weather as the fur helped regulate heat and cold like a deer would, the other half, the "human" bit, not so much.
Vincent was quiet for the drive, watching buildings and people go by, occasionally spotting a fellow petperson. The nearest mall was pretty much dedicated to all things petperson. Clothing shops, toys-regular and naughty alike on both accounts-bath and beauty, a book shop, a large food court with a dozen different places to satisfy even the most picky pet, and even a couple grooming centers.
First stop was for clothes as those were the most needed. They worked from the top down, Vincent trying on a few items until they found his size before really filling their cart. A scarf, his own coat, shirts-long and short sleeved, undershirts, gloves, pants and boxers, and some thick socks. Vincent thought about the lingerie department but remembered Hanzo said he didn't have sex with pets, so no need to get anything from there.
As they waited in line, he looked at their haul. It was quite a lot. Did this mean Hanzo was keeping him? Seemed like it if he was willing to spend this much on him.

He lifted his phone to his ear to call the driver so he could bring the car up so they could load the bags in and not have to walk all the way out.
no subject
A suit? That was a strange thought. But he supposed if he was going to be hanging around at Hanzo's workplace it might be required.
They dropped the bags off and headed back into the mall. Despite just buying a new coat, he kept Hanzo's on. They were bombarded with employees upon entering the bath and body shop. Vincent, being the shy deer he was, kept close to James, though got a lot of stares. Not everyday a deer came in.
Couple brushes, a hoof filer, some soaps and shampoos that didn't smell like flowers. Their list here was exceedingly short compared to the clothes shop.

"If you like, we also have a velvet retainer..." The salesgirl looked up from where she was ringing and bagging their choices. "I've heard it works really nice. Have bucks in here at Christmastime with their velvet still on."
no subject
The velvet retainer he wasn't sure on however, especially since he wanted to shed these tiny nubs as soon as possible. Felt like a doe more than a buck these days. But he agreed to add it on.
The deer carried their purchases and they headed to the book store as Vincent loved to read at any opportunity and Hanzo had seemed to approve that he could. He checked out the grieving and loss section but everything he found was on either dealing with a deceased pet or master, not a master's family member. in the end, Vincent restricted himself to three books, a fiction title, and a couple puzzle books.

"He won't talk to you about his father. They didn't get along very well shortly before Kaito's death. But he'll probably get drunk here soon, now that he's starting to get just enough time to breathe. Might even cry, or call his brother. But you shouldn't worry all that much about it, alright?" He led the way to the checkout and paid again.
"Is there anything else we need?"
no subject
He shook his head as they checked out, no need for much else at this time, though the cashier managed to upsell him two plush that had beans in the butt to allow it to sit upright. A deer and a dragon. They were cute and it fit him and Hanzo as there seemed to be a dragon theme about him. Why not.
They stopped at the food court on the way to meet the car and he got a cup of hot tea as he was thirsty after all the walking around but not wanting anything cold.

"Bathroom's right here," he said and pointed, depositing the armful of clothes in Vincent's arms. "Change, and then head back to Hanzo's office."
Hanzo was back in his office, but wasn't on the computer. Instead, he had a sheaf of papers in front of him and classes perched on the end of his nose. He accepted the credit card and receipts back, but didn't even check them, just stuffed it all in a drawer.
By the time Vincent arrived back from the bathroom, James was packing up for the night. "Good night, Vincent," he said with a smile, slinging his bag over his shoulder.
no subject
Should he bow? He wasn't familiar with Japanese customs. He inclined his head respectfully, "You too, thank you for everything today" he smiled then went over to Hanzo. He looked very serious and busy. He opted instead to sit on the sofa, making only enough noise to fish out the two plush he'd gotten to hold and curl up with while he waited for his master to finish his work for the night so they could go home.
no subject
He sat back in his chair then sighed and pulled off his glasses. "Let's get out of here." He stood and started to pack his briefcase with the paperwork, his laptop, and anything else he might have needed.
He paused when he went to put on his coat, though, turning it to spot the little golden hairs along the bottom hem. Then he shrugged and slipped it on, tugging his gloves out of the pockets and putting them on as well.
no subject
Vincent was up immediately when Hanzo said he was ready to go home, scooping up his bags and following him closely to the car after putting his own coat on. For a moment he thought perhaps Hanzo might be annoyed by the hairs on his coat but he didn't seem to care much.
Putting the purchases in the trunck of the car, Vincent climbed in beside Hanzo, the little plush in his lap, a little excited to be going home for the first time.
"Did your meeting go well?" He asked
no subject
Hanzo blinked over at Vincent, and though his gaze flickered down to the deer and dragon plushies only for a moment, he didn't comment on it.
no subject
"I'll keep myself occupied and quiet" he promised.
Though that did get him thinking. "What...What does your company do?" he asked. All the books and whatnot on Hanzo's shelves were basic business and tax related from what he could tell. Nothing that stood out about the place said what purpose the company served.

He smiled, listening to Hanzo. He liked making things as opposed to running them. Couldn't blame him, a company seemed like a lot to take on, doubly so when you're taking over from your late father.
"Do you think you'll ever be able to back into it?" he asked.
