The FAMILY Meme

How does it work? Simple! Choose a relationship (or roll for one, if it suits your fancy), and then RNG for a situation! That, or just go straight for whatever situation appeals to you. These are all fairly vague: just something to start you off!  Parent-Child      1. Rock-a-Bye How do you get a fussy child to sleep? Read them a story, sing them a lullaby, or just let them stay up until they exhaust themselves? Whatever the choice, it is time for bed.       2. For The First Time You've never met this person in your life, but it turns out they're one of the two reasons you exist. Maybe they walked out when you were young. Maybe they never knew you were born. Whatever the reason, it is now time to meet them.       3. Past Midnight That curfew was set for a reason. Now it's two AM, and your kid is just now dragging in. Maybe they're drunk. Or got into a fight. Or just had way too much fun snogging their new love interest. It's time for them to face the music.       4. New Home It's the first day of your new life together, as parent and child. Whether it's through adoption, a basket on the front steps, or a wish come true, both of you are going to have to learn to take your steps together.       5. [Kido seems about as normal as most kids she saw around the high school, so she takes her word for it. She waits until Kido's on her way before saying.]

I'll see you later tonight. Anything in particular you want from the store?

[She lists a few things--she went through the cabinets and there is definitely not anything to cook with this woman really did survive on take out, didn't she?]

[She types it all up before putting her phone away and heading outside with Kido. With a quick wave and a hop onto her motorcycle, she's off.

For her at least, the day proceeds as normal. She delivers the things, she visits some friends, she gets the groceries, so on and so forth.]

[Kido's sure Celty's in a gang or doing some shady organ-trading black market business. She's sure she'll eventually wind up as a body. Probably not immediately because that would be suspicious but sooner or later she's gonna wind up being a delivery for Celty. She knows it.

She'll clean when she gets home if Celty isn't to be seen. She thinks to herself she should've asked for slippers. That's an eventually sort of thing. But she wants to try not to fuck this up and ask for anything because either she'll end up dead or back at the orphanage and she doesn't know which one is worse at this point.

The second she sees Celty, though, her eyes are going red, she's shoving the cleaning supplies away and hiding in the room Celty gave her.]

[Well, all things considered, Kido's not wrong. Celty is associated with gangs and black markets. The organ part depends on whether having your head stolen counts.

She makes sure the bike is feeling okay and loved before going inside with the groceries. Kido is faster than she thought considering how quickly she sped out of the rooms. She liked how most humans like to offer privacy. It was only after meeting people like Shizuo or Mikado that she realized Shinra's closeness wasn't considered the norm.

She puts away the groceries and leaves a note on a fridge about for Kido. She's pretty sure she'd come out for food at some point.

The next few hours are spent watching a show about aliens, because she didn't have enough stress in this world.]

[Kido's door will click open and closed while Celty is watching. She's watching the living room with her red eyes, barely even aware she's invisible. She's actually pretty interested in what Celty's watching because it's not a normal thing for someone to watch.

But she doesn't want Celty to see her. She doesn't know how she'll feel about her after work.]

[Judging from the way the helmet and body are slumped, she fell asleep on the couch.

Welp.]

[Eventually, she will very nervously turn the TV off and try to find a blanket for her because maybe if she's endearing she won't die.

Maybe.

She makes her own dinner. And lunch for tomorrow because she was hungry all day and completely forgot money to buy anything with. She won't tell Celty this. She's afraid to ask for anything. But she'll clean up after herself and leave a note on Celty's note asking for slippers and an apron. She doesn't have a lot of clothes. She can't really afford to get anything too dirty.]

[Celty wakes up feeling immensely guilty about not saying anything to Kido this night. After seeing the note, she quickly goes out and buys them. Maybe that will make up for it? How often do families talk to each other?

She comes back, sets them on the couch, and goes to bed.

SO GOES THE FIRST DAY.]

[Could've been worse. Kido's still burning out her batteries when she goes to sleep. But she'll try to get up before Celty does. Hesitant. Nervous. She'll cook today. She doesn't want her food to be burned black this morning and go hungry again to school. She got teased by the blonde boy who sits a few seats down when her stomach growled.]

[Celty is surprised when she heads to check on Kido only to find her already up. She offers a small wave as greeting.]

[She's in her uniform already. She... tries for a friendly greeting.]

Morning. I made lunch if you need it. [Please don't kick her out or murder her.]

[She can ask Shizuo how it tastes so she can compliment it later.]

[She shrugs.] It was fine. Normal, I guess. [She got scolded for disappearing again while she was right there but that's no different. She's sure Celty will hear about that soon enough.]

Did your deliveries go okay?

They went very well. Calmer than usual. [No police officers chasing her for hours.]

Might be home late tonight due to some deliveries. I hope that's okay.

It's fine. I'll make dinner. I don't mind taking care of things.

[Another awkward thumbs up. She's so not good at this.

Presumably the rest of the morning is just as uncomfortable as the last one.]

[Oh absolutely. Kido will leave around the same time as Celty to start her walk to school again. And she'll be hiding when Celty gets home again.]

[Celty is home really late. She wants to tell Kido that it was a really goo meal, but she also doesn't want to wake her up. So she'll just go to bed.

So ends day 2. Clearly NOTHING will go wrong on day 3.]

[Oh clearly. Except for Kido's nightmare. She has it a lot. The fire, her sister, that endless loop of it. She won't be in her bed when Celty comes looking for her. At least not visibly so.]

[She wakes up about her usual time, gets on her helmet, and goes to check on Kido.

She's not in her bed.

Okay, so she got up early again, that's fine. She pops into the kitchen to say hello there.

She's not in the kitchen.

This is about where the panic sets in. She searches the house quickly, returning to Kido's room at one point. Oh god oh fuck. She didn't check on her last night. Maybe she never even made it home. Maybe she ran away or maybe something happened to her. And she wasn't there to stop it. She'll probably have to search the whole town. Its probably too late.

Wrapping her hands around her helmet, she leans against the wall as she desperately tries to catch a breath that she doesn't have.]

[She wakes up later than normal. She always does when she has that nightmare, it's like the sleep she got doesn't matter... When she sees the time on the clock by her bed she scrambles to get dressed and ready to go though, dashing out of the room about five minutes after Celty has decided something terrible has happened to her.

She's going to be late and that blonde asshole will make fun of her again and she almost doesn't see Celty in the hallway.

And she freezes when she does.

Did something bad happen? Did someone get hurt? Is Celty already regretting this...?]

Celty?

[She immediately jumps in surprise. Oh. Okay. Apparently no need to panic.

She stares for a long moment in complete bafflement before typing.]

You weren't in your bed.

[She flinches back when Celty jumps.]

... I just woke up.

Is everything okay? [Did she leave and then come back???]
