The FAMILY Meme

How does it work? Simple! Choose a relationship (or roll for one, if it suits your fancy), and then RNG for a situation! That, or just go straight for whatever situation appeals to you. These are all fairly vague: just something to start you off!  Parent-Child      1. Rock-a-Bye How do you get a fussy child to sleep? Read them a story, sing them a lullaby, or just let them stay up until they exhaust themselves? Whatever the choice, it is time for bed.       2. For The First Time You've never met this person in your life, but it turns out they're one of the two reasons you exist. Maybe they walked out when you were young. Maybe they never knew you were born. Whatever the reason, it is now time to meet them.       3. Past Midnight That curfew was set for a reason. Now it's two AM, and your kid is just now dragging in. Maybe they're drunk. Or got into a fight. Or just had way too much fun snogging their new love interest. It's time for them to face the music.       4. [Mikado slipping about Kido to Izaya sounds like the worst thing ever, honestly. And she doesn't know enough about the Van Gang to really test the loyalty there.

Kind of weird that she trusts one of Shinra's closest friends so much, but he was basically her only contact outside of the creep in question for a while. They were monster buddies.]

Generally mid-afternoon to 11 pm. It varies, but I try to get home before it gets too late.

[If she could read that thought or smile warmly, she would do both right away. But for now she gives a nod.

Eventually, they make it home. This was a Day.]

[It was very much a day. Kido kind of just collapses wherever it is okay to collapse. Possibly a couch. Possibly her room. Anywhere Celty is not.]

[Celty's eager to sleep too and faceplants into her bed until morning. They probably still have a bunch of things to go over, but it can wait.

Weeks pass. Celty's schedule varies, as expected, but she always tries to get home as early as possible. Shizuo handles the news about Kido pretty well. He's surprised, but supportive. In fact, he seemed very firm on keeping her safe too. Kids need to be kept safe.

She likes to think they're starting to get more comfortable around each other.]

[Kido welcomes her home when she's awake, instead of immediately hiding, now. Sometimes, when she's had a bad day, she falls asleep on the couch waiting for Celty to come home. The house is always spotless.

After about a month, the orphanage checks up on them, surprised that Kido hasn't been returned yet. She tries to seem settled and adjusted after that but when they're gone she immediately flops down on the couch, groaning. It's easily the most real she's ever been around Celty.

And she always keeps an eye out for a creep in a lab coat.]

[Celty assumes, if the orphanage actually cared, they'd probably ask more questions about Kido's general safety and what was up with the helmet and why doesn't Celty have any identification. Maybe they really were hoping she'd kill Kido. But she can't help but be amused with Kido's couch flopping.

Its strange. With Shinra, things like having someone waiting for her to get home felt unbelievably stressful. She didn't want to be alone, but she didn't feel safe at home. She'd spent as many hours as she could searching for her head, just to avoid running into him. Now, she looked forward to seeing her fellow house dweller. She had hoped for this, but she didn't actually realize it was what she wanted. She's on the look-out from Shinra frequently too, making sure he didn't ruin what seemed to be going so well.

There's probably a bunch of little things Kido learns about her. In her free time, she watches a lot of sci fi/fantasy tv or plays some games. She's kind of a nerd, although not as overt about it as you'd think. She offers Kido to watch with her or pick something else if she pleases.]

[It's funny after being so certain she'd die that this might be the safest Kido has ever felt in her life. She actually really really likes video games, and loves playing them with Celty if she lets her. And Celty will quickly learn that she cries really really easily at sad endings to movies. Kido is a giant baby.

And she's a giant baby about making sure at least Celty gets home safe. It's a night Celty comes home just a little earlier than normal. If she looks for Kido, she's on the couch, sleeping. It might be a little weird because she's facing the back of the couch and she doesn't do that often, but she's asleep when Celty gets home. It seems pretty deeply.]

[Two player gaming is the best and Celty is all too happy to do it with Kido. She's, obviously, never cried at a movie before and has never seen it happen before. Does ice cream help? She feels like it helps.

When she sees Kido tonight, she metaphorically smiles to herself before putting a blanket on her.]

[It's normal. It has to be normal right? The blanket falls normally. Right?

Except it doesn't. She's pinned down to the couch by a blonde boy with red eyes. He's hissing at her to stay quiet. He's not going to hurt her, he's just going to take her home. His hand is over her mouth so she can't even call out, one hand holding both of hers. She struggles to pull away enough to call Celty's name, but it's not as if she can hear. The illusion is too strong.

Celty's almost gone, she's almost gotten away when Kido bites down as hard as she possibly can. It breaks the illusion long enough for her to scream at the top of her voice.]

Mom!

[If Celty turns then, she'll see Kido still pinned down, the blonde boy jerked back and nursing his own hand. Kido's shaking and her face is wet with tears, trying to pull away but he still has her straddled.]
