Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you?  The grass is always greener on the other side, it seems, not matter who you are. Still, there are some who've never even dreamed of seeing that lively shade because it's not even in the realm of possibility. Maybe you've not once considered what it would be like to live what most would consider a normal, peaceful life. You're too plagued by danger or ostracized, and if you did think about how things could be different, you'll only bring pain over what can't be. Except it can be. You've woken up where. If you live in constant violence, you now have peace. If you're an outcast, you're now accepted by others. And more than that, you also have a happy home with a lover - something you may have thought you'd never have - and a perhaps even a family. You may or may not have desired that. Everyone else here thinks it's always been like this, but you know the truth. ...don't you? Or are you the confused one, and this the reality? At any rate, how do you take this new "life?" Are you suspicious? It's understandable to be; you know who you are and where you stand, and you don't remember any of this. Could it be a trap all along? Is this a world where you wish you could stay or might actually try to do so? If that's the case, you may want to pull away and remind yourself that there must be an illusion here.  hurt/comfort smut;meme Bruised. Beaten. Stabbed. Sapped of energy. Tricked. Mentally played and abused. Perhaps you've even seen your home world destroyed, depending on how Homestuck you are. Any way you slice it, characters go through a lot of crap. There's nothing wrong with wanting to see them get pampered and taken care of when they're ailing. In canon, they may not have someone who can provide them with care when they're injured, support and love when they're sick, and physical intimacy all around. In this post, AU or other scenarios can provide them with a caretaking partner of their very own (or, maybe, someone to take care of, if the reverse is their preference). So, for once, weary traveler, you don't have to carry that weight all by yourself. | |||

| Despite the romanticism surrounding the emotion, it can be difficult to be loved completely — not just the beautiful parts of us, but also the sad parts, the injured parts, the hidden and less-than-pleasant parts. There are marks on us, both physical and mental, that we'd often rather forget. The mental ones can just be easier to hide. As for physical scars, they can be off of our minds some of the time, but that's exceedingly hard to do in more intimate, close moments. Whether it's to your dismay or otherwise, your partner is not looking away and ignoring your scars. To the contrary, they're providing attention in a way most heavily associated with tenderness: kissing. It may be an accidental slip off target, or they may be trying to show you that what you've done and who you've been don't matter to them now. Does the gesture touch you? Make the walls come up once again because of the memories that are dredged from somewhere you'd rather no go? A mixture of both? The wound has long closed, yet the pains remains; these days, however, there's someone who may be willing to help you bear it.
